Thanks to the taper, as always...
This is a very good audience recording from the first night of two in Boston, acquired as a bonus cd with 4Reel's release of 'Isle of Wight 1969' dvd back in 2005. According to http://www.thewho.net/f91/roio/html/1969.html (entry for this particular show), the recording should have a cut in 'Acid Queen', 'Tommy Can You Hear Me', & 'Go To The Mirror' -
however, this particular recording appears to be completely intact (with no cuts) apart from missing the last 3 songs of the set - The Who 11/11/1969 gives no indication of any cuts either. So whether this is a different source I have no idea at all - anyone advise? The show itself is a very good one, as the band had been touring 'Tommy' for 4 weeks in America by this point, narrowing down what worked on stage & what didn't. Pete's interludes to the crowd are slightly unclear, but the vocals themselves don't suffer - even Keith's...musically, the band are in fine form, & the recording is indicative of this - slightly rhythm end heavy but definitely more than listenable, with a performance that by the end has the dynamics of an overworking engine

  1. The first twenty three tracks are just listenable, only JUST!. The last three are total wipeouts. Maybe if you were there, but there's much better sounding Who concerts to found elsewhere on this site. Peter. (Sydney)
