"From the taper himself we have the following description of the recording:

'Mostly Selling England material, it was recorded on a Sony TC-150 reel to reel with Shure mics. I am pretty sure I was seen by Hackett at least as I was sitting on the floor stage center about 30 feet back, the mics were on a small gooseneck. However, the Sony had a switch to turn off its internal speaker and I had forgotten to turn it off, this means you get some annoying feedback, not loud, but audible in very quite passages, most notably when Gabriel talks (as he does at length) between tracks.”

“A 50 minute section of my tape was released as the bootleg album 'Awed Man Out' where it claims to be 'live in Canada'. I have absolutely no idea who did this, certainly wasn't me, I gave a dub to a couple of people.....However I have now placed the original onto CDR some time ago, just raw as is.'

It was this raw CD material that we used for this project. As described, this show has a recurrent feedback that was most audible during the dialogue and quiet sections. Using a subtraction technique, this feedback was reduced -though not completely removed- as well as possible. Actually, there were two distinct feedback profiles found and reduced where found. Hiss and other noises were also present and required multiple techniques to be brought under control. A few gaps were present and needed patching. One patch came from this recording as a recurrent section of music was used to patch another. The bass components were out of line and required some re-working. Sub-bass was boosted while high bass was attenuated. This compensated for the room acoustics and produced a more natural sound. A slight midrange adjustment was also implemented. Some peak crackle was present that needed smoothing after which dynamics of the show were adjusted. Finally, a consistent but gradually changing speed error was identified and corrected for each disc. The result is a fine example of early 1974 Genesis."

Notes from Remasters Workshop:
This show was rescued from a failing hard drive full of recordings I hadn't got around to for several years. And what a find it was! If you like Steve Miller, you are going to like these performances. I found this on Usenet, apparently not long after its initial appearance via other venues. It's been in storage ever since.

The recording was pitch, phase and level corrected in Audition 3, and retracked in CD Wave. EQ brightening was added to one track that was spliced in from a different source, to match the sound of the rest of the music.

Many thanks to the people who liberated the show - and to twofthrs at Dime - your efforts are appreciated! This is my humble attempt to keep your work accessible, because you don't find stuff like this every day, and it needs to be heard.

2012 Notes: Used judiciously, sound enhancement software can be used to great benefit. In this case, the BBE Sonic Maximizer was applied to the original cassette sound, which was quite dull. While not every type of sound benefits from BBE, it seems to be very effective on cassette sound. The result is like taking the blanket off the speakers, in a way that does not sound processed or artificial. This recording gained a whole new level of listenability. To illustrate the difference, an mp3 demo has been included, which switches back and forth between no effect and BBE, to show why the whole show redone this way was preferable to the existing recording. (Please do not add this to your disc!)

notes by whotrader:
Finally, my first KW show and the boys did not disappoint. Performing at one of the finest venues in Denver, I thought the sound was superb. And the crowd was about as quiet and polite as you could possible expect a Denver crowd to be. The recording came out nice, I was in the second row in the balcony - almost center. Unfortunately, I did pick up a little cell phone static near the end of the show, but I was able to clean it up quite a bit. When you record a nice, clean show like this, it really highlights the limitations of your personal recording equipment. Sample included.

Oh and here's a review and pictures. Not the most glowing review, but not written by a fan either.

To put it simply, the sound quality of the sound check party is great but the one of the concert is not that great.
Surrounded by a group of sea-lion whose brains must have been permanently damaged by the Beatles music could not help barking at the site of their life-long idol, it was extremely difficult to make an even decent recording at the show. Recording right next to this big guy who constantly made a series of unpleasant barking or moaning sounds, this recoding is not suitable to listen with headphones….We decided to let the uploader share this one because too many people asked him to do so….

A few notes: the content of this DVD is made up of 3 MPEG files that were NOT captured by me, but I had them on my PC. I can't remember where I got them, probably in a trade and/or downloaded. The Sonding Out show has a couple of 1-second freezes and/or pixelation. These artifacts were on the MPEGs as I got them. I opted not to cut those frames out, but in retrospect maybe I should have. They really don't detract from this otherwise excellent cmplete version (the best I've seen of this show). It appears that this was a rebroadcast maybe from late 2006 or early 2007.

In fact, this sounds like a very low-generation source with very upfront sound -- not a "distant" recording at all. The distortion I noted could have come from Neil using a faulty microphone or a subpar P.A. system -- or it could be the sound overpowered the taper's microphone. Unless you demand sonic perfection, I think you'll enjoy this one a lot. I included "Dance Dance Dance," a loud song, as a sample so you can see if you'll be bothered by the distortion. "Old Man," and I think a lot of this, sounds very nice.

For the 2nd night I had seats on the side which I normally dislike but with the U2 sound system it was an improvement. After 3 1/2 hours of sleep and a long day at a work conference I was tired. Arena was 41 miles away and was supposed to meet a fellow taper who had my ticket between 7 and 7:30. Goal was to arrive early enough to eat and get set up by 6:30. Traffic was hell and finally resorted to side streets through San Jose. After 2 hours in the car dinner was obviously not going to happen so stopped for french fries and the use of the bathroom. I got to arena at 7 and got a text my friend was stuck in traffic. He arrived at 7:30 and rushed in to set up. Show started and both sound was improved and band was hotter. After Beautiful Day Bono changed things up and they went into a great version of Bad. Had to be the highlight of the show. During the encore Bono pulled a kid up on stage which was cool. All in all a nice recording of a fun U2 show.

Review from Bob's Boots:
This is a powerful performance captured sublimely by Rattlesnake. They have been shut down a few times, and it really is good to see them back with a handful of new releases. They are re-establishing themselves as a top act in providing incredible performances. What first hit me was the incredible spaced-out Cold Irons Bound. Werewolf Bob is howling his heart out above echoing guitar…It Ain't Me Babe is gorgeously re-invented, and the reconstruction reduces the audience to twinkles, giggles and coos… quite amazing! Bob is always searching for different ways to tell the same story. On Just like a Woman he invites the audience to participate, which strangely, they seem reluctant to do. Honest With Me is a relentless boogie/jam. However, it's the anarchic excursions Bob's vocals take which seem to annihilate time and space.... freeing language from its restraints of meaning and context to become just another layer of the music itself. Oh, its a wonderful performance overall. The lovely silk-screened discs and 8 page booklet of rare photos make it one to house in any growing collection.

from the Japan tour with in 1988 in “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason”, were made ??to tour the second half, and March 8 6-Disc CD press the complete recording with high-quality sound recording audience of the best level of performance Osaka Castle Hall on the 9th is an appearance.
“THE GREAT GIG IN THE BUDOKAN” (3/2 & 3), “SIGNS OF LIVES” (3/4 & 5), “SIGNS OF EVERLIFE” (3/6), recording’s miraculous ultra-high-quality recording that super-name record name taper visionary who spun off. If you listen with the appearance Osaka tape recording of the same person, Mania I think in not hide the color of excitement.First of all, compared to the performance in Tokyo, the presence of Osaka performance recording is limited, without any boot up to now March 8 the first day, only one sound source has been confirmed in the underground world. Performances March 9 of the second day, a sound source of sound quality passable could only have been released under the title to say “Night Castle” in the CDR from Amity label a few years ago. 6 pieces, Osaka 2 Days high-quality sound of this time, the new source that was not previously available on the world at all. Osaka the first day, which is housed in a 1-3 disk first. The sound quality is at best, perfect sound on a par to that Budokan and Yoyogi. Makes you feel like this recording’s, the spread of the sound very clear, it is a stunning recording. It is the gem which I was stunned for the first time in many years, “Nantes there was this recording!” And for Floyd fans. Floyd fans Kansai area is I think in not hide the excitement that the Osaka live I saw 26 years ago, is now, and it appeared in the highest sound quality that approaches the line recording in particular. From silence as crystal clear, that bright guitar Gilmore jumping out to have an overwhelming sense of color! This is a great recording that would listened in silence “This is a great …” in various places throughout. Long time in spite of the course only this, it’s not felt any deterioration of sound also a great place. Sound like spree fly freely it is a word of the best part in the stereo, the greatness of this sound, magic will not absolutely know I have to imperative to experience. Well, this is great! Second day, which is housed in a 4-6 a disk instead. This also high-quality sound that far exceed its outstanding the “Night Castle.” In a soft impression rather than on the first day recording, the sound quality is the impression that cede one step on the first day when it comes to clarity of the sound, but if you listen alone this, you can tell you that far from adequate, and stunning high-quality sound recording. I think a sense of stability of sound, sense of scale also on people, punch of sound is also sufficient, Osaka first day is a matter of course, but for this Osaka second day performances, sound source in excess of this recording in the future as not to appear so, there is plenty of value to fans should be available in six pieces press CD.
