Peter Green and John Mayall - 2000-05-01 - Birmingham, UK (FM/FLAC)

(FM broadcast FLAC)

Peter Green Splinter Group and John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers joined UK tour 2000.
Symphony Hall, Birmingham, UK.
Concert date May 1 2000.
Recording taken from the BBC Radio 2 broadcast on "An Hour Of Rhythm & Blues with Paul Jones"
These are the "so called" highlights, the concert is incomplete.
Nevertheless, this is an outstanding show and recording.

Lineage : FM > ?? > Trade CDR > EAC > Goldwave 4.24 > Flac (TLH)

What I recieved in a trade was the complete broadcast of the Paul Jones show.
I edited out the opening-track of the show (the studio version of "The Stumble") and the closing tracks,
both official studio recordings).

tested WAV for MPG, confirmed lossless
made .FFP to make sure it was same as .ST5, confirmed they matched

merged all WAV files to into a single big one, in prep. for better tracking

removed two spots of repeated of talking, probably due to a tape copy from the master. One is right before 45 minutes, and the other near the 50 min. mark

Renamed tracks to be more user friendly
Made these notes you are reading of the setlist, band members, and other info. (none which weren't on with the SHN file set.)

If burning to audio, CD 1 : 01-10, CD 2 : 11-14, would probably be the best spot.

* "The Cabooze", that Mayall is mentioning, is a still existing (and probably will be forever) Minneapolis hippie/biker bar. A lot of my local friends play there. Sometimes national acts, esp. if they were blues artists. I think John is happy that he is playing in front of 3000 or so, compared to 600. Ironically, this is mostly the place I saw him in the years that followed, before I moved.

This is a real nice sounding recording of JM with Mick Taylor with two partial sets. I've seen much shorter versions of this posted with no known lineage. OK, so a 4th gen SBD may not be the most desireable recording, so if any does have an upgrade to this version, please share with us all.

Not too much 60´s White Blues roots here, recently......

So here´s my favorite tape from the John Mayall´s Bluesbreakers:
A very unusual performance with some incredible playing by the boys,
not the usual live stuff, but great!

This is the best sounding audience recording of John Mayall´s Bluesbreakers from the 60´s I heard yet!

(overall a more well balanced sound than on the Windsor Fest. 67 tape)

--- Exellent FM from 1st. Gen. reel--!

This is the first live performance with this lineup, without a drummer, I ever found! Another missing Link, this time between Mayall´s "Turning Point" Band, also with no drummer & his too short "USA Union" period !

Don Sugarcane Harris, Harvey Mandel & Larry Taylor were sure amoung the finest musicians ever played with Mayall,
so be sure to get some great music here!
Many thanks to taperpat who send me this gem for upload here!
