The remaster: 
About 19 minutes of DJ banter ( yes, some music too, because the DJ talks over it), intros and other talking was removed from the original recording. 2 or 3 very brief sections of DJ banter remain. 
25 seconds of clean, uninterupted applause was taken from 2 other sources, overdubbed and carefully added to the original with cross fading ( slow in/slow out ). Using Sony Sound Forge 8.0, I blended the channels slighty and raised the volume a little.I noticed some brief dropouts on the original, some were lost in editing but I made no effort to fix the others. I resisted changing the pitch of the recording, even though I think Roger's voice sounds a bit "off ", it must have been the water in Lucca, but my knob twirling, while creating very interesting versions of this concert, yielded no fulfilling results, other than making Roger sound even more feminine and "mousy". Maybe next time I should turn the knobs the other way.... 
This ( hopefully ) creates a more comfortable recording to listen to, rather than have the intrusion of the DJ ( a woman who clearly enjoys the sound of her own voice, even more than Roger ! ). The clean applause was taken from concerts on the NAB / NAV lists, but as far as I know, only the artist performances themselves are banned. Besides this controversy, I freely choose to be the only one harmed by the secret of knowing which shows they are. I can only say this; one of the recordings is from my own master ( CA-11 cards > DR-2d ), the clapping is mostly the sound made by my own hands, the same hands which are giving you 19 minutes of your life every time you hear the remaster....... 
Later, after completing a Pink Floyd SBD/AUD Quad Surround Sound "matrix" from 1977, I will share a seperate recording containing the 19 minutes extant, a glorious example of overindulgence which I will dedicate to RAI DJ's & executives, liars and bullshit artists worldwide !!

I've got this show some years ago. Very good sound quality and an interesting setlist. Roger played lots of Supertramp classics but also a couple of songs from Rites of Passage and In The Eye Of The Storm plus a then new song, Keep The Pigeons Warm, which was released the next year on the Montreal DVD as Oh Brother.

Review: Roger Hodgson tramps through super show at SoundBoard

DETROIT -- Roger Hodgson’s name isn’t quite as familiar to the masses as Supertramp, the band he co-founded and then left 31 years ago. But if you want to hear Supertramp music these days, there’s no better place for that than at one of Hodgson’s show. 

The British born singer-songwriter-keyboardist-guitarist made his first appearance in Detroit since the mid-80s on Thursday night, Nov. 6, at SoundBoard in the Motor City Casino Hotel -- and made up for last time with a uncannily clean-sounding show that packed 18 songs into its nearly two hours. The vast majority -- 14, in fact -- were not surprisingly from the Supertramp canon, but they weren’t all the obvious hits; yes, the SoundBoard crowd heard “Dreamer,” “The Logical Song,” “Breakfast in America,” “Take the Long Way Home” and “Give a Little Bit,” but Hodgson also dipped deep into that well for real-fan favorites such as “Sister Moonshine,” a gorgeous “Lord Is It Mine,” “If Everyone Was Listening” and “Babaji.”

And for the true aficionados, Hodgson and his facile four band members delivered impressively accurate renditions of ambitious epics such as “Child of Vision” and the suite-like “Fool’s Overture,” The musicians, in fact, were very bit Supertramp’s equal throughout the night, with multi-instrumentalist and former Detroit resident Aaron Macdonald even miming woodblock sounds with his mouth during “Lady” and the ensemble handling everything from the delicate (“Lovers in the Wind,” “Lord Is It Mine”) to the bombastic (“Had A Dream,” Hodgson’s first solo single) with equal dexterity.

Hodgson’s easygoing, affable personality gave the show a genuine warmth and intimacy as well, whether he was playfully teasing late arrivals -- “You missed the best song,” he said to a couple after opening with “Take the Long Way Home” -- or honoring requests, by name, that were logged on his web site. He promised the crowd that “Detroit is gonna come back. It may take a little time, but it’ll come back stronger than ever,” and when he said “See you again soon, I hope” during the final bows, Hodgson left behind a room full of smitten fans who clearly felt that even “soon” would not be soon enough.

I've always thought that supertramp were more brilliant and elaborate than many allegedly progressive groups, hence the labelling under "progressive rock" category, as this is by all accounts a Supertramp greatest hits. A great selection of great songs, really, from the ballads to the epics. And his voice it's still the same. WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His/Her purpose is to introduce songs with bits of bio and translate what the artists say, or to describe to radio listeners what's happening on stage. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. It has to be noted that italian djs are on the whole adviced to talk that much by the same record companies to prevent bootlegging.
