An absolutely essential release of the Sao Paulo, Brazil show, which could be subtitled "The Attack of the Killer B (Three)". What a great mix, and prominently up front is Greg Phillingaines' wonderful, swirly, inside out, upside down Hammond B3 organ. Great version of "Got You On My Mind", and also a very nice "Change the World". "Sunshine" is a nice treat as well, and old Slowhand decides to rip off a nice solo over the break, perhaps surprising himself as he flubs the vocals after his solo! Greg also shows a fine sense of humor as well as a great sound, playing the riff to "Layla" during his organ solo on "Cocaine". "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is omitted from the radio broadcast, instead only the band introductions are heard.  
This incredible remaster from the 3BR team is a massive improvement over the orignal radio show recording, not only because it now has far more dynamic range, life, and hiss reduction, but also because the annoyong announcer who kept shouting "Live Concert! Live Concert!" has been deleted from the mix! Don't miss this one...

This is an interesting bootleg, there is no no label or number on discs. The original silvers are poorly silk-screened with only the title "Forever Man is Forever!" Most pressed CDs from that era (late 1980s, early 1990s) have at least a manufacturer ID number on the inner ring (even if it has been obliterated), these have none.

I bought this set at a record fair in the early 1990s, and got a real "deal" on the 2CD set at only $40 because there was no artwork. Some years later, a website contributor was kind enough to contribute the cover scans, so thanks in that regard go to him.

Included are scans from today at 300DPI of the original silver discs - they aren't much to look at, but this way you know you're getting the "real deal".

The 1985 tour was a personal favorite, and it's great to have a soundboard from the short Japan tour that year, even if it's not a fantastic one. A great performance of "Double Trouble" is worth the price of admission alone (which is FREE for you, by the way!)

The 1988 Tour celebrated Clapton's 25th Anniversary in the music business, and coincided with the resurgence of classic roots rock and blues in the public eye. The tour was received warmly, and the crowd in Phildelphia was off the hook, which really took the energy level of the band up a notch as well. Sourced from a low generation copy of a pro-shot Video in wide circulation among collectors - then remastered by the 3BR team. Great, crisp soundboard recording. The mix, in particular, is very up-front and close-miked.

Notes: 
Enclosed some pics of the setup. It works excellent, especially since I can't spend the whole show at the seats due to my ears. Recording still sounds nice, but Gremlins got to my setup and rendered my battery box unusable. So for this recording, I removed SP-SPSB-10(battery box) from the source because the mics were plugged directly into the attenuator cable(MM-AT-1). This messed with the clarity, high ends and crispness I usually achieve as the mics were overloaded on the low end. 

And when I say Gremlins, I mean a big stupid one - myself! Nothing but 100% human error. Both my mics and battery box have the same jack and like a total idiot I plugged the battery box into itself. Doh! I build a three foot wide split masterpiece using popsicle sticks and after all that I can't connect my gear together properly. I could tell something was off with the levels. I checked all the connections again but somehow didn't realize until I got home and started to disassemble everything and saw what I did. Suffice it to say, I am pissed at myself. I dropped the ball and made a rookie mistake. Taping will humble you that way, so many things can go wrong. Live and learn. At least I'll never do it again. Oh yeah, I also turned the recorder off by accident and cut about 5 seconds from Key to the Highway around 13 seconds into the song. One of those nights.

The early 1990s were an amazing run for Clapton, with the growth of the Royal Albert Hall shows, constant touring, and seemingly inexhaustible exposure.

Starting in 1990, "blues only" nights were a part of the Albert runs, and hugely popular with diehard fans. But EC's management and label resisted the idea of progressing any further in that direction.

After the huge critical and commercial success of "Unplugged", Clapton was freed to pursue other directions, which eventually led to the "blues tours" in 1994 and 1995.

The 1993 shows were a fascinating melange of classic rock, pop, and hard blues. If you're one of those people who listens to "good music" no matter what the genre, the 1993 shows are probably the most accessible EC ever did live.

In the fall of 1993, EC went to Japan, where the audiences are deeply respectful and appreciative - the perfect crowd for this fusion of old and new.

The sets began quietly, with acoustic blues, veering from the Delta sounds to the sounds of electric Chicago blues, and then coming to the fire and fury of 1960s British Blues, with "White Room" and "Badge". After a breather of "Wonderful Tonight" (a perennial Clapton Speed Bump in most sets) there comes EC's unhinged rendition of Hendrix' "Stone Free".

After a more modern pop / AOR break with "Circus" and "Tears in Heaven", the band breaks into a funky reworking of "Crossroads", the 1980s hit pop single "Tearing Us Apart", then digging deep into the blues with "Groaning the Blues".

As if this set didn't cover enough musical decades, next we have EC's 1970s version of "Cocaine", with a new feel for the 1990s, Bessie Smith's 1920s "Ain't Nobody's Business", and then closing with those Seven Incredible Notes, "Layla" ... themselves taken from Albert King's "As the Years Go Passing By".

Basically, this set is like a Graduate Level course in the history of the blues, taught by one of its best students.

The 3BR version is a remastered version of the Mid Valley release "Into the Fire". This wasn't some quickie "tweak" job, as The Professor reportedly spent 50+ hours on this recording (I heard, he liked it! haha). The important thing, check it out and let YOUR ears be the judge.

Even if you already have a copy of this title, this may be a nice upgrade for you, direct from the masters with known lineage.

Also, the original scans I did "back in the day" weren't very good (because my scanner, wasn't very good) so for this torrent I have included new scans at 300 DPI.

Of course, EAC logs and checksums included.

There's been a lot of discussion lately about what is "essential" Clapton, and I'm really glad this has come up. It's so easy for those of us who are familiar with an artist to lose track of what's essential, and accessible to everyone, not just diehard fans.
