Notes:
The 2-CD Westworld, the fourth release of the Pink Floyd label Sigma, is an outstanding recording of the very popular soundboard recording of the live show at the Fillmore West in San Francisco, CA on April 29th, 1970, which had been previously released numerous times on CD on titles such as Interstellar Encore (Pigs on the Wing OMS 002/3), Pink Pigs Over Fillmore West (Euro Boots EB-30), Magic Makes The World Go Round (Moonage Daydream Records), and Fillmore (Highland HL642/643). On each of the first 3 titles, approx. the first 3 minutes of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” are unfortunately missing, as it starts with a fade-in. On Sigma’s Westworld and Highland’s Fillmore, however, these first 3 minutes of “Set The Controls” have been patched in from a slightly inferior recording to make it complete, as one can hear the sound quality suddenly improve a little at approx. 3:00 into the track.
So at least we have the complete show without any edits.

As for the sound quality of Sigma’s Westworld, it’s certainly superb, but unfortunately doesn’t seem to be any better than that of Highland’s Fillmore, which seems to be only a very slight upgrade over the other 3 titles mentioned above (the last one, Moonage Daydream Records’ Magic Makes The World Go Round, has a normalization issue since its bonus tracks are noticeably louder than those of its Fillmore West ‘70 show). In fact, if given a choice between Sigma’s Westworld and Highland’s Fillmore, I would probably choose the latter over the former because it seems to sound a tiny bit crisper. Other than that, any noticeable or significant differences between the two couldn’t be identified.

As most Floyd fans know, this excellent early ‘70 performance was actually concluded with 2 brilliant encores, “A Saucerful of Secrets” and “Interstellar Overdrive”, and the latter is actually not from the same soundboard source as the rest of the show, unfortunately being sourced from an audience recording of that same night. But the drop-off in sound quality going from “Saucerful” to “Interstellar” is only so slightly that it may even go unnoticed by some listeners.
The artwork of Westworld is fine, with Sigma having used classy-looking glossy inserts again.
But overall it’s recommended only to those who are looking for the complete version of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun” that includes its first 3 minutes and/or sound quality that’s just a little bit better than that of the earlier releases, such as the 3 titles mentioned above. Or, if you’re like (actress) Nancy McKeon and don’t even have the Fillmore West ‘70 show at all in your personal collection, then you shouldn’t wait to get Sigma’s Westworld, or Highland’s Fillmore as an alternative choice that’s pretty much just as great, if not a tiny bit greater. The Mahavishnu Orchestra at Syracuse University with Ravi Shankar as support.
An outdoor concert at a spot nick named The Skytop Lounge filmed by the University to be shown in house. Probably filmed as a training exercise with their new production equipment used for filming and showing lectures on their video system.
Rick Aubry in the voiceover mentions this is part 1 but no one knows if part 2 survives. Only this video was found in a different university (Vermont?) on an ancient video format during a library store clean up sometime in 1994. The finder realised its importance and somehow got it transfered to VHS.

BACKGROUND:
The second show from the 1976 European Tour with the full show from an audience source and the more popular partial soundboard version as extra tracks. The original audience tape I got hold of from a second hand record shop in Derby about 20 years ago. Somebody sold their entire Stones collection by the looks of it and among the official stuff were hundreds of live tapes! Picked up quite a few at the time, this is one of them. If anybody has an upgrade of the full audience show it would be appreciated. I’ve supplied some artwork which I created. I’m currently transferring all my CDs to my HDD in lossless to stream so eventually I can save loads of space and chuck them all away, so the artwork size is 600x600 pixels and just the fronts.

Notes:
This is the famous appearance of Iron Maiden on Beat Club, a German weeklty TV show in the '70's/early '80's that also featured bands like Saxxon, Dokken, April Wine and....ABBA. The band plays live for a 1/2 hour in front of a studio audience and seems a bit nervous. They make quite a few mistakes throughout the set. Nonetheless, it's a great, energetic show from Maiden in what I consider their best period.

Re-edited video which was torrented at HungerCity in April, 2008.  I cleaned up eight seconds of cable drop outs - eleminating black  screen, and removed the standalone recorder 5 minute chapter

Original notes:
"This aired on MTV in 1986. It is an excellent documentary about Dire Straits at the height of their popularity -  following them during rehearsals, press conferences and just
relaxing. The interviews are done amidst beautiful and exotic settings."

Notes:
This is a GREAT sounding (A+) recording of SRV & DT at the Jazz Fest. in New Orleans. I'm not sure if this is still rare, but at the time I got my CD, it was fairly uncirculated. My copy came from my friend CM who had a relative that ran the mixing board from which this tape came. Some of the ID markers ma not be perfect, but feel free to retrack it if you wish. All credits for the availability of this one go to CM. I just transferred my copy to share with you good people out there.

NOTES:
Review of the concert by a Swedish VanTrades member:
There were 2 shows on the 29th and 30th of April, 1994 at Kulturbolaget in Malmo. Sometimes Kulturbolaget is refered to as KB. It has nothing what so ever to do with KB Hallen in Copenhagen. Kulturbolaget has a 750 capacity and is a rockclub. No chairs etc. The first show sold out immediately (first time in the club's history I believe) and the other show was also a full house, although it was still possible to buy tickets the day of the show.

The first show clocked in at 170 min and the second at an unbelievable 186 min which must be one of if not the longest ONE set shows Van has ever done. He had to be pulled of the stage by the manager because he was missing the last ferry to Copenhagen where he was staying. Apparently none of the hotels in Malmo (including the Sheraton and Radissons etc) were up to his standards. These long sets can in part explain why there was booing when Van left the same stage after only about 75 or so minutes when he played KB again in May this year.

Now why do I know all this? Well I'm pretty sure that it is my recording that is being talked about. I DAT taped both shows with great results. I'm aware of one other recording of at least one night but it was not as good as mine (and analog). There is one flaw in that I had some problems switching tapes so "Shaking All Over" from the 30th has been substituted from my friend's analog recording.
