Now this is a show to have! The performance here is incredible, the sound here is very good (Sting's bass in particular is amazing), and it's almost all here. Voices Inside My Head is gone, but that's no biggie. The only thing missing is that a piece of Roxanne is cut (I'd say about a minute or so), but we easily have one of the longest versions of that song from this tour on here. There's the right amount of echo on here to make you feel as if you were at the show. Sting also seems to have some problems with the monitors, as he asks for more guitar on Synchronicity II and curses about this during O My God. The band also seems to move between the songs pretty quick, so I'd say they were enjoying the performance and more interested in getting down to business. Overall, I'd say that unless I hear something else this is probably the best European Synchronicity show. This qualifies as an essential.

The last night in Germany for the band finds them in good performing shape and our taper here did a great job of capture. However, that is where this buck stops. I'd say the audience here is not the best and Sting seems to notice this. Most of the show here, but the very end of De Do Do Do is missing. Almost all of the banter before King of Pain is gone as well (the discs change at that point with this one). There was a source of this torrented out at Dime, but someone seems to have done some digital noise reduction here and I think that version is inferior to this one (the hiss is really not bad here anyway). If you can go without an enthusiastic audience here, you will find a fantastic performance inside.

This gets the grade it does because the sound is so good. Why it has not seen more circulation is beyond me. However, the performance here (like many other Europe September-October '83 performance) is par for the course. There seem to have been some crowd issues, as Sting asks them to move back after Message in a Bottle. Like Dortmund, the audience is also fairly silent here as well. This one is alright, but will likely get in because of sound.

A nice early show with excellent sound. From the original info file which came with the FLAC archive: This is the final Police show to be torrented from my master tapes. It's Stings' birthday so he has some fun with this show. Once again, this tape was remastered by Serius Joe and the sound is really top notch. I know this show has been on EZTREE before, but I am unsure of the source. As with all my uploads, this comes from my original master tape directly from WLIR FM. Lineage is the same as the rest of the Police torrents. DJ's intro and outro comments are also included. Hope you have enjoyed the Police tapes as much as I have enjoyed sharing them with you.

I seeded this back in 2005. I figured that it was time to start re-seeding many of the shows that I recorded throughout the years. Back in the heydays of FM radio, I lived in Flushing Queens and at the time, I had an FM antennae on my roof that picked up WLIR, WNEW, WPIX, WPLJ and WFUV at their optimum. My equipment was pretty good at the time of these recordings and it's time for me to start sharing what I have again. I probably have 400 or so FM shows. Quite a few of them are from the WLIR Tuesday Night Concert series. 

WOW!! The response to the first POLICE show at the Palladium was great. So, I've decided to continue with them and put up this gem from the long gone WPIX-FM. WPIX was at he forefront of the New Wave back in the early days. Their focus was on artists like the Police, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson and the rest of what was called New Wave. They had a tremendous Sunday night 3 hour show called "RADIO-RADIO" which featured all the New Wave artists in studio playing their records and discussing their music with the DJ. It is unfortunate that I cannot upload them here, as I have almost the entire series on tape. 

As for this show, WPIX was not very popular in it's day and died a quick death. Unlike WNEW or WLIR they didn't broadcast many live shows. This is probably the hardest to find of the several NYC Police concerts broadcast on the various stations. Enjoy it. In short order, I'll put up the Bottom Line and the My Fathers Place shows. Keep watching this space. 

Some notes about the lineage. I sent my original tape to a guy known as SERIUSJOE. He remastered the whole show and transferred it to CD for me. At the time, I did not have the capability to transfer tape to CD. This is direct from the disc that I received back from him in FLAC format.

I have seen a version of this running around with about 1/3 of it missing, and if you are going to get this you might as well go complete. So here is that source. The drums are a bit tinny for my taste, and due to the mix I would bet the taper is on Sting's side of the stage (bass and all vocals cut through clear, drums aren't so bad, but the guitar is buried most in the mix). It is all here save for a few seconds of the ending of Murder By Numbers being gone. This one isn't the best from this tour, but once you get a few others I don't think you will be too let down provided you don't treat this as a holy grail.

This one was requested to me, so I took the chance to pick up the dusty tape and transfer the content on my hard disk for you benefit. This one was traded back in 1991. I doesn't sound very much a radio broadcast to me, but there are a few elements for which I suspect I suspect this IS actually from radio:

- I got it from the french guy who taped it, and he said he did it from the radio
- RTL broadcasted in AM until mid-80's, which explains why the sound is not as clean as a FM programme
- the audience is almost non-existent is the recording, which means that the recording is probably taken from soundboard
- other RTL shows around the same period (even from The Police) have the same 'kind' of sound
- some tracks are cut off; the taper explained me that he had cut off the nasty speaker interrupting the music

Fantastic recording in perfect stereo. This was a radio broadcast of a WDR program. There is also a really great TV broadcast of this whole show too. This is the superior source of this show from radio...except the last track which was not broadcast on radio. It was only available from the TV show so I patched it in from my DVD.

There's enough hiss hear to turn some away, but this is a nice August '83 performance. Sting seems in quite a good mood here (he does sing a song for Winnipeg during CSLY), and the band turns in a good show. This may not be everyone's first choice, but this is an enjoyable show to have.
