comments:
Mick Avory left the Kinks after the release of "word of mouth" in 1984. the rest of the lineup is the same as heard on the studio album. three songs from the previous album, "state of Confusion" are included in this concert, and a good collection from earlier ones. the kinks can be bluesy and sometimes a little rockabilly country (Muswell Hillbillies era) but they are best known for rock and roll and they play alot of that in this show. a couple of tracks are slightly cut as the taper edited a couple of times for encore breaks and the tape flip cuts in slightly, but most of the show is in the recording.

14 - encore break #2 1:31
15 - Victoria 4:09

runtime: 79:23

Comments:
"one for the road" live album was recorded during several shows from 1979-1980 low budget tour, but none of it was recorded in Detroit show. this is apparently the whole show except for the opening song sleepwalker. this was first posted without sb's aligned and with the end of you really got me cut off. Someone else later posted a patched version, splicing the end of all day and all night onto the end of it. I decided to try doing the same, to reduce a little "extra" lineage of the circulating version. so here it is, this time without any of the encore breaks edited out.

Notes:
This is from a rehearsal session prior to one of their early '90's tours. The date is not known and has been speculated as being anywhere from 1989-1994. Most sources list it as 1993, but is not really known. It is clear that it is a rehearsal, as the informal session consists of many partial songs, instrumental run-throughs, or vocals added only in bits and pieces here and there. This edited tape of the session (between song talk, misc., etc. removed) was reportedly leaked by a sound engineer or someone else that was there. The source is a CD Bootleg called 'Kinky Rehearsals". It's an interesting and unique look at the band, and they do (at least parts of ) a wide range of songs from all phases of their career, some with quite different arrangements.

Concert before a live audience filmed tonight and broadcast July 26th on ORTF Channel 1 programme 'Discorama' (Denise Glaser - 10:00 - 10:20 pm).
The programme was originally set to air on July 7th but The Kinks' segment was hastily removed two days prior.
The show's directors were horrified upon previewing the band's live act, which was deemed too wild for primetime TV.
However, public outcry from the programme's young viewers resulted in The Kinks' segment being reinstated on a later show.
A brief clip of the band performing 'Louie Louie' will later be exhumed and used in a 1993 French TV special about the band, indicating that the broadcast still exists (...)

Known Flaws:
Track 07--splice at 2’37--It sounds like someone edited out a member of the audience being invited on stage. Tracks 15 have some distortion.

A nice Kinks from 72,I made some rework on this one.I repair a drops out in a first track between 1’05 and 2’42 in one channel,Tracks 15 & 16 were paste in one track and I adjusted the
level in all the tracks with Sound Forge 9. Too much basses sometimes but a nice audio show from that period.
