These are all fresh rips from the original discs, done just for these remasters. Over 6hrs of music. None of this material is officially released. I think most of these are complete sets, except Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers. 1992 was my first and favorite Lollapalooza year. 

All shows audience recordings, all sounded so-so but needed a little help. Track splits are all re-done. I created a separate txt file and folder for each disc. 

Included are scans of the box set cover. Vol 1 cover I scanned myself. Vol 2 cover vanished long ago so I found images online. 
Also included a scan of my ticket from the Dallas 1992-09-06 show. What a fantastic day... :-)

This show is frequently referred to as "Mudfest" due to a downpour prior to the concert. One of the reasons that this show is so incredible is that PJ was jumping out of their collective skins to be able to cut loose for more than 90 minutes. Currently touring with Neil Young, they were confined to an early 45 minute set. They were offered this slot (and are the only non-Canadian band ever to play this large festival) and it became their night. Despite Ed's drinking, PJ is very high energy and intense.

Pearl Jam headlined Lollapalooza Festival making return here after 15 years. This performance was a subject of controversy when Ed's words 'George Bush, leave this World alone' for "Another Brick In The Wall" tag had been censored during broadcast. Thomas Young, a veteran soldier to whom "No More" song was dedicated, was invited to the stage for this song, joining Ed and Ben Harper. And for "Rockin' In The Free World" many guests appeared on stage with the band.

Kiss The Stone Records (KTS) is a popular bootleg recording company that has released many famous bootlegs by bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails. The company was based in Italy, where the law allowed the company to market bootlegs as long as it placed royalties for the artists in an escrow account. Most artists wouldn't bother collecting, either because they didn't want to legitimize the bootlegs or because tracking down escrow accounts in a foreign country was more trouble than it was worth.

Comments: 
This, along with the two nights in mid-July 1998 at the L.A. Forum, is somewhat of a "classic" in the Pearl Jam trading community -- an excellent matrix of two good audience recordings with the in-house ALD broadcast. The mix does a good job of maximizing the strengths of the ALD recording (high-end, immediacy of vocals) and covering its shortcomings with the fullness of the audience recording. Relative to those two recordings, I think it's similar if not a little better than the first night; certainly better than the second. The vocals and guitar sound as though they mostly come from the ALD, but the two audience recordings serve to fill out the overall mix. It's not quite on par with a commercial release, but honestly, it's not far from being worthy of being released as an "official boot." 

I'm not sure how the hardcore fans feel, but I felt like the "Yield" tour was sort of a comeback for the band -- after the disappointing "No Code," "Yield" had a lot of great material that translated well in a live setting, and they were able to reach a broader audience again after setting their feud with Ticketmaster by returning to mainstream venues after a tour of playing makeshift sheds and county fairgrounds. These shows had a lot of energy and positive vibe. Understandably, this is a little heavy on "Yield" material but the setlist adequately covers their full catalog.

Noting the HUGE crowd (70,000) Ed jokes, “… I made a mistake … I thought ‘Roskilde’ meant ‘small club’ … I fucked up.” After a fan makes it to the stage, stage dives and begins getting beaten by security, band members and Eric (tour manager) jump into the audience to assist. Security doesn’t seem to recognize the band and they have difficulty returning to the stage, which is fairly far from the crowd. Ed is clearly pissed and says next time they will pass out photos to security. After the thievery of his journal the night before in Stockholm and this incident (combined with exhaustion from nearly ten months of solid touring), the balance of the tour is canceled.

PJ is in a good mood and Ed recalls last time when they played in Switzerland in a very small place with no amps and how cool it was. The "Mamasan trilogy" is performed and explained as follows: "The next three songs ... we've never really played them together, but they go together. You wanna hear about it? I never told anybody about this before. I don't wanna ruin any interpretations of the songs that you have, but it's about incest and it's about murder and all those good things. And if you can picture it in your mind, the third song takes place in a jail cell so this is our own little mini-opera here ..." and 'Alive' is played. The second song of the trilogy, 'Once,' has a lead in: "What you did to me, ain't right ... problem child ... cuz I ain't crazy. Once upon a time ..." and Ed screams into a raging 'Once.' And just before "Footsteps,' "So this is act three." 'Shower the People' is a James Taylor cover. 'Brass in Pocket,' is a Pretenders song with the lyrics revised a bit. ("I'll kick the fuck outta you ... I don't give a fuck.") Ed refers to 'Suggestion' as, "... the same song my dad used to sing to me when he beat me." A great show featuring an excellent version of 'Porch.'

notes: Ed is wearing another Tivoli shirt, like the home-made one in 1992. The band is in a very good mood and Ed is dancing a lot. Ed says, “Is it okay if I speak English, because the only thing I know in Dutch is how to order pot in a cafe. It is nice to be back and thanks for having us. It is much more beautiful then I remember it. [smiles] It is also nice to be out of America for the last couples of weeks … in America what we do for fun, because we have some kind of advanced culture … [the crowd boos, Ed smiles] so we have some very futuristic ways of handling our overpopulation problem and that is we give each other guns and kill one another – because it is fucking fun! [Ed makes a shoot sound]. Anyway, here are a couple of songs about killing one another. This is called ‘Rival.’” Ed dedicates ‘Light Years’ to Diane Muus from Sony Music. (She died in 1997 at an age of 33 and knew the band very well.) “So that was about a friend who is fucking up and there is nothing you can do about it! And you just watch’em go down down down. And then, other times you have got friends that don’t fuck up at all and are great people. And then you just lose them for some reason. They are of the planet and you never had a chance to say goodbye. I only mention this because there was a person we used to know here and that was Diane and ah, we never got a chance to say goodbye. This is goodbye!’ Before “Fucking Up,’ he is telling the crowd that Gomez will play in the tent next to center stage and that Moby is coming later. He says, “I’ve been told that there is another Ed (Ed Kowalczyk from Live) walking around here, but I’ve been told that I give better Ed than he does” [smiling]. He smashes two tambourines with his head during ‘Fuckin’ Up’ and tosses one to the crowd, and takes photos of the crowd at the end of the song. Later he’s smiling and says, “Ha, we’re easy … sometimes” likely referring to the fact that they do an encore for a festival. He asks, “Hey, Brett. Are you there? Can you hear me? Do you have the tape from last night?” Brett responds through the PA and says the tape is probably on the bus. Ed rants about the tape as he needs it because they want to leave right after the show. “Well, if he had the tape I would tell you to pass me over there, so I could get the tape and back again to the stage … I think I can trust you guys to do that. But oh well … as you don’t have the tape maybe next time. Oh, there is no next time! Oh, well. This song is called ‘Black.’ Say hello to all my friends in Utrecht.” The last 35 minutes of this show was . Dutch FM radio broadcast ‘MFC’ through ‘Black’ and featured an interview with Mike.
