Another 'tape' from the Magnix Live Archive. 

Previously, on November 5, 2010 a transfer of a 2nd generation tape of this broadcast was shared on Dime (it was on the tracker for 868 days and was snatched 274 times during that time). 

Also, the exact same tracks have been rebroadcast on October 19, 2007 (they were/are allowed to broadcast 'old' material only) on the Dutch KRO "Legendarisch Live" FM radioshow. I have recorded that broadcast as well, straight from FM cable to WAV. However, the first track of that recording, "Twice As Hard" had a short (16-17 seconds) cut halfway the song, because I accidently switched of the radio while taping to my harddisk (how stupid one can be sometimes). I thought I could use the 1991 tape to add the missing piece, but the difference in sound between the two sources was quite noticable (both are excellent, but there's some sort of difference in the 'colour' of the recording, if you know what I mean). Since most of these "Legendarisch Live" broadcasts are available on demand as well, I have used the 96kbps WMA-file to add the missing piece. Also note that the 2007 broadcast has quite some extra inbetween song banter and crowd noise ... 

All that said, presented here is a tramsfer of a 1st generation tape from the original FM broadcast from 1991 in excellent quality! 

Disclaimer. 
Please note that this is a real FM capture, no cable, but straight from the airwaves. Also, this comes from a tape that was 16 years old at the time of transferring (October 2007). This means that some FM and/or tape anomalies or degeneration may be present. Most has been fixed to the best of my abilities and most of this stuff is of very good quality.

FROM UNDERGROUND UPRISING:
I have always been a big fan of when Jimmy played with the Crowes having had in the collection previous amateur videos which were pretty good to say the least and the various audio bootlegs that were available to us all right through to the official release from the Greek Theatre in 1999. This release is a welcome addition to any collector, Jimmy whilst playing with the Crowes was always on fire, some people regard the vocalist as being "Tame / weak / not Robert Plant etc" should ignore this fact, cause this is all about Jimmy playing old zep standards at some of his highest standards. The highlights for me were Lemon Song, Celebration Day, In My Time of Dying. Lets not forget that the Crowes are a pretty tight and professional band and can certainly handle their instruments. The DVD itself is indeed a pro shot, where it come from who knows and who cares, the picture quality is fantastic with multi camera angles, there is a minor tape flaw in places but this does not detract from the viewing at all. The sound is simply fantastic also. This is a fantastic release and a master class in guitar playing, the intermingling of Jimmy with the Crowes guitarists is fantastic, such a pity they stopped playing. A big thumbs up on this one to the people who released it, lets hope for more. (Big Lee From Tipton Jan 07)

It was discovered (thanks to weedwacker and TMP) before torrenting that several tracks each contained one very brief instance of digi buzz/noise and the noise was confirmed to be on the silvers. The offending tracks: Celebration Day, The Wanton Song, and In The Light had the noise manually removed by weedwacker. No cutting was done to the files so no sbes were created. The tracks were decompressed to WAV, corrected, and reflac'd. These fixed tracks are now torrented here.

Chris Robinson apparently collapsed from "exhaustion" after this 'secret' acoustic show, and the group returned to the US, cancelling their pending tour dates.

Anyone with even a passing interest in the band or the genre should check this out, as this is one of those truly great moments in Rock & Roll, documenting the period when the band shed the regimented sound of their debut album and settled comfortably into what they really were - a highly proficient and genuine rhythm and blues outfit.

It was, and still is, unusual for a band such as this to appear at Ronnie Scott's jazz club and the reaction from the clientelle was mixed - Chris's request for a beer from the crowd fell on deaf ears - but this didn't stop them from putting in an extraordinary shift during which they nailed some of their favourite tracks and debuted a couple which would later appear on the stunning 'Southern Harmony' album.

Previous audio releases of the show, most notably 'Darlings Of The Underground Press' on 'Improvisation Label' featured a horrible mains buzz throughout and the tracks presented at completely the wrong speed and pitch. Remastered video versions had the stereo audio sync way out as a result. This show deserved to be put together using the best quality audio and video available and the errors corrected, and that's what this is.

The original broadcast on Canada's 'Super Channel' had an interview with Chris Robinson cut in between every track but this is removed here and the footage is patched with short sequences of black frames and corresponding audio for a much cleaner and truer experience.

The bonus CD is the complete show, pitch corrected and very carefully remastered to remove the earth loop. This significantly upgrades our previous release of this show.
