notes
The noteriety of this show is that when the band began the encore, "Satisfaction", thousands of balloons were released and a fan, taking advantage of the confusion, ran past security and onto the stage, directly at Keith Richards, who proved that they don't call guitars "Axes" for nothing! The best part is that Keith nails the guy with a Telecaster, then puts it back on and keeps playing!

Notes:
3 years on from the YesSymphonic Tour, here we have unearthed an excellent stage mic recording of the Danbury 2001 show, a different source than the lower quality audience version that's circulating in the Yes trading scene. This rates as one of the best sounding shows from 2001, at least as good as the best audience recordings from the tour. No other source information is available. All credit goes to windowkbm, who traded for this wonderful recording and encoded it to SHN. After verifying the MD5 signuatures, I converted it to FLAC (SHN->WAV[mkwACT]->FLAC[Flac Frontend])

comment:
Made by the RCJS team. This is the only proshot concert from The Notting Hillbillies so far. And what a great one. First of all, the footage in the documentary is great: interviews, rehearsals. Guy Fletcher telling how he joined the Hillbillies, the world premier for 'When it comes to you', etc. The show itself is great. Mark Knopfler is brilliant playing the guitar. You can see Ed Bicknell (the old Dire Straits manager) playing drums and a special guest: Paul Franklin ('the best pedal steel guitar in the world') who a year later will join Dire Straits for their last tour.

There’s an old saying that the best things in life are worth waiting for, and this torrent most certainly falls into that category. Versions of this show have circulated in varying degrees of mediocrity on VHS tapes and DVDs. Now, ten years after the event, Mid Valley has issued what will be regarded as the benchmark for this show. While this does not quite measure up to a commercial release, it is so close as to fall into the “who gives a shit” category. Put another way, the quality is excellent. I watched this last night on a 46” Sony Bravia LCD flat screen (sound through Audioquest interconnects to a Creek Classic 5350 SE amp to Harthbeth 7ES-3 speakers) and was knocked out. After I finished watching this, I took my Heartwood Edge bootleg DVD and the old VHS tape I have and threw them in the trash. It’s that good.

The lineage is unknown and there are two distinct sources. The main show is one and the encores are the second. The encores have a time strip across the bottom of the screen and the TV station logo in the bottom right hand corner, which does not distract much, whereas the main show does not. The main show quality is slightly better than the encores. .
