As usual all the infos are taken from the Mick Taylor’s Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: http://www.nzentgraf.de/books/mt/taylor1.htm

This tape is coming from nzb and has not been circulating widely and yet it’s an excellent soundboard recording! The biggest problem was the speed, way to speedy so the original tape was a tone too high. I did several tests, using the vol 18 as a reference… it appeared the tape had to be decelerated with 8%! Note that the right channel was a little saturated: I requilibrated by added +30% to the left channel.

From nice-sounding audience Dat master recorded close to stage in this small venue with not many people in attendance. Check the samples to judge the quality for yourself. I probably made a copy of this (for Dave White) back around when the show happened but it has not been shared here previously from the master.

This is a great Mick Taylor (ex guitar player for the Rolling Stones) show from my collection direct from the soundboard at the House of Blues in Chicago. As with most true soundboards there is very little crowd noise except way off in the distance so the show sounds a
little canned but none-the-less an excellent recording of a very inspired MT performance in a great blues town. How much better does it get?

The were many variances and fluctuations in the mixing. Numerous focused level adjustments were made track by track, then the channels were mixed in varying proportions (changing at points within some songs in response to huge fluctuations in what was sent to the tape) to achieve the best balance and consistency I could find. Additional targeted level adjustments were made to my ending mix to address some remaining fluctuations/output changes. Thanks to billydee for recording and all involved in bringing this back for us.

01 - Red House (part 2)
02 - Put It Where You Want It
03 - Can’t You Hear Me Knocking
04 - Third Stone From The Sun

As Red House was already in two parts I used this gap to separate the two cd’r-s. For the covers I used and reworked pics from the great Japanese fanzine “Stone People” (issue #47).

As usual all the infos are taken from The Mick Taylor’s Complete Works Database by Nico Zentgraf: http://www.nzentgraf.de/books/mt/taylor1.htm

For this show we had the CD n°2 from IMP-N-014 'Nasty Blues'-bootleg with very good sound (a radio broadcast) but incomplete: CYHMK is partial (only 3 minutes from the 23 minutes!), “Third Stone…” is missing and the frequency spectrum seems very limited (it's surely lossy).
Fortunately nzb sent me an alternate source, with a good sound and a better frequency spectrum, but it also had two defaults: a 2 minute gap in the middle of “Red House” (from 5’ to 7’ maybe a tapeflip?) and it runs too slow.
Because lossy files cannot be used on certain sites I dropped the idea to create a mix from the two sources for “Red House” and decided to do 2 versions for this show:
- Vol 09a with only nzb’s source reworked: it’s the version you have here
I upgraded nzb’s source by adding a little more bass and treble, re-equilibrated the channels and I used the IMP source to correct the speed (+1,68%).
- Vol 09b with nzb’s source upgraded and the IMP version reworked (transitions
between the songs): …..so a two sources version but with lossy & lossless files that can only be downloaded on IORR https://www.iorr.org/talk/list.php?2

A soundboard recording : I equilibrated the channels, reworked the beginning of the tracks so now they start with the song. I deleted digital noises at 6’12 in « Little Red Rooster » and at 1’06 in « Stranger In This Town » and also some microgaps between the tracks. Two segments from « Promised Land » had a very low left channel : I used the right one and duplicated it to re-equilibrate. (Note that Mick Taylor does not play on « Promised Land »…. probably it was his cigarette pause!)

The biggest problem was in « Boogie Man » with a 2 seconds gap at 2’05 : I used a patch coming from the next verse and the result is imperceptible : I’m very happy with this patch.

An excellent show to finish this short tour. The only regret is that « Goin’ South » and « Jumping Jack Flash » are incomplete.
