Beware of a constant clapper to my left (not bad, but noticeable) and some screaming females behind me. Thankfully, the screamers toned it down half an hour or so in. I spent a lot of time removing some off beat claps from the lady to my left, most notable during "My Life". I removed some random screams and yells in between songs, so if you hear an immediate drop in crowd noise, that could be why. I only did this once or twice. Outside of that, the show and recording went very well. Im not sure if this was a sell out, but I read it was on various news sites at 35,000+ tickets sold. Very impressive to see a 68 year old Billy put on a 2 & a half hour show. I only expected 2 hours max from him. The guy just keeps going! Very happy w/ the setlist (with it being a non MSG show). This was my first time getting to hear "The Longest Time" & "No Man's Land" after 20 years of seeing him live. Please note, Mike DelGuidice handled vocals on "A Day In The Life" (traded off w/ Billy), "Nessun Dorma" & during the "Rock And Roll" interlude.

For decades Billy Joel has been visiting colleges and theaters performing lectures/master classes. This one was recorded in London in 1993 and is among the best lecture recordings in existence...sound quality-wise. Most of them are poor audience recordings, but this one is a crisp soundboard recording. He answers questions about his music, his career and the music business. He also performs a few songs, mainly from River of Dreams, the album he was promoting at the time.

Quality and source notes: You can hear a very obvious crossfade between Leningrad and My Life.  That and redundant material between Shameless and We Didn't Start the Fire, with fades, indicates this is likely from bootleg CDs.  Like most of Dan Haugh's DATs, the quality is excellent but the documentation somewhat lacking.

Editing note: Redundant, overlapping material between Shameless and We Didn't Start the Fire deleted.  Approximately two minutes of crowd noise before encores deleted and smoothed out with crossfades.

I pretty much beefed up the sound as much as possible. The band is amazing, and I wanted to bring back the sparkle to the guitar, the bite of the drum and the balls to the bass playing.

As for the hiss, it's pretty much the same as the Pre-FM, I could have removed some of it, but I found it detracted from the visceral impact of the instruments...so I left it intact. The band is rocking enough to punch through it!

I also added a bit of chatter to the end of "Captain Jack" which wasn't present on this pre-FM, it's the line Billy says about not being able to get the song played on radio...I think it fit in pretty seamlessly at the end. I got that snippet from an earlier "remaster" I did on this show from a lesser quality source.

Good recording as I used the same gear I do for all other shows. However, Billy's vocals are not as strong in the mix as I would have preferred, although that improves after the first couple of songs. Still, a very good, clear recording with almost no audience interference and a setlist that featured several rarities.
