Total running time [2:45:50]

WAV 16-bit 1.63 GB
FLAC 16-bit 940 MB

Tape story:
The venue is the main arena in Bologna (actually Casalecchio di Reno) formerly known as Futurshow Station and PalaMalaguti I had a seat at the left of the first level gallery in front of the stage at about 60 m from it Very quite people around me (except for the third encore, of course...) The sound of the recording is excellent Several late arrivers with seats in my raw passed in front of me during Closedown, others left their seats during the first encore break and came back during At Night, resulting in temporary muffled sound in both tracks (30+10 secs)

What about the show?
It was my fourth The Cure show (the others were all in the Milan area in 1992, 2008 and 2012; 2008 and 2012 were also taped) A very enjoyable concert with an excellent screen and light show quite uncommon for The Cure A possible "setlist of my dreams" with the "Seventeen Seconds encore", Charlotte Sometimes and also IOTWCS debuting in the European Leg of the 2016 Tour (neglecting 7 pre-1982 tracks!!!... never in this leg) Happy Birthday to Roger was sung at the end of the first encore break

Technical notes:
- The total running time of the recording was 2:47:06; I have cut the first 52 secs and last useless 24 secs reducing the master to 2:45:50.
- I have amplified (+5.5 dB on the left channel, +4.5 dB on the right channel) and slightly compressed (-12 dB/1.5:1) the whole recording and faded-out the last 10 secs
- If you burn to audio CD, you will need 3 CDs (CD1: 01-13; CD2: 14-25; CD3: 26-36)

Notes: Here's a really good show worthy of your collection, for a couple of reasons. One, Joe brought old friend Joel along for this "duo" gig ... it was good to see/hear them together again in Big D. Secondly, Joe was coming off "a rough couple of weeks" that Ol' Mike has understood to include personal loss. Live music, the great healer. The setlist leaned heavily on West Texas touchstones. Though we've heard these tunes scores of times, some seemed to carry more weight this night. Ol' Mike would even say Joe's spirit was rallied by the cathartic edge inherent in some songs and by the enthusiastic love from the crowd. Give a close listen as he sings "Live Forever" ... Joe's voice occasionally catching, or trailing off as he turns his head away from the mic (and crowd). Well, imagined or not, that gave Ol' Mike the chills - that's his story and he's sticking to it. Sound is great, especially through headphones. Of course, thanks go to Joe (and Joel) for all those golden nights of music and memories for us. Also kudos to Dallas live music icon Poor David for bringing in all the quality artists for lo these many decades, including Joe every year since 1984, in an intimate venue. Continued thanks to The Coin for the now-retired surrogate mics and to D. Ortiz (working forwardly to see his way off the DL) for the current loaners.

Got this in a snail mail trade about 10 years ago. The mighty PFM live in Modena on the tour for their second album "Per Un Amico". This album, along with their first "Storia di Un Minuto", is generally considered to be one of the high points of early 70s Italian Prog and all the tracks at this performance are taken from these.

This performance is particularly interesting as it took place the night before Keith Emerson attended their show in Rome, loved them, and signed them up to ELP's Manticore label. Tracks from their two Italian albums were then rerecorded with English lyrics by Peter Sinfield and released as the "Photos of Ghosts" album. I prefer the Italian originals though (even though I don't speak Italian) as it was pretty obvious that the band found it very difficult to sing in English, a language they didn't speak, and the Italian originals flow much better. Just think of the voices as another instrument, unless you speak Italian in which case you can enjoy the lyrics as well!

Anyway, this is PFM performing the originals in Italian in front of what sounds like quite a small (although wildly enthusiastic) audience. Performance is very good, and it's a testament to the band's skill that they were able to effortlessly pull off such complex arrangements in a live setting. Some versions are also considerably longer than their album counterparts with a lot of jamming taking place. Fantastic.

Sound is not perfect by today's standards, but is very good for a 40 year old audience recording. Vocals, keyboards and guitar are very clear although the bass and drums are a little muddy at times. There is also a fair bit of tape hiss. Overall, listenable and enjoyable though.

So, if you like PFM, this is a rare opportunity to hear them perform their classic early tracks in their original form rather than the somewhat compromised English language versions they would stick to live for the rest of the 70s.

Sound Comments/Faults?: Good quality, some echo on the vocals but not overly distant, audience noise is negligible. However low recording level caused by taper error has generated background hiss which is quite significant on the solo acoustic section.

Show Comments: Long show for the Australian leg of the tour. Heckler heard in #5 “ Do it in your own time Neil!”.

Note : track 00: Intro - A Day in the Life has been omitted from this torrent because of the official content played.

Notes by the taper
My first Macca concert and probably the greatest experience of my life. The Beatles were the first band I got into, and I've been a fan for 15 years or so, since I was a kid. I was in Section E, Row 17, seat 3, right by the aile. I had a great view, and I think the recording came out pretty good. This is one of better recordings (if that means anything). The acoustic songs are a big quiet, and there's some minor yelling/clapping, but my "neighbors" were mostly quiet throughout the show. I hope Paul does more US touring next year, I would love to see him again. It was hot and nasty in Milwaukee and Paul was sweating a lot, his voice had some rough spots, but, whatever, great show.

Lou Reed - 1977-08-07 - Mont de Marsan, FR (AUD/FLAC) by REQUEST

Lou Reed: guitar, vocals

Michael Fonfara: keyboards
Bruce Yaw: bass

Joanne Kamorin: backing vocals

01: Sweet Jane 8.46
02: Rock And Roll Heart 3.47

04: Rock And Roll 9.45

08: Satellite Of Love 7.10
09: Leave Me Alone 24.41
10: Banging On My Drum 5.16
11: Heroin 12.17

Late summer saw part 2 of Lou's 1977 European tour. He would complete these dates before closing the year with some shows in Australia and New Zealand. Over the summer, Joanne Kamorin had been installed to provide backing vocals and Stuart Heinrich had replaced Jeffrey Roth on guitar. This was a difficult time for Lou: his relationship with Rachel was falling apart and they had several separations during late 1977. The binaural live tapes he had made in Germany earlier in the year had been rejected by Clive Davis and he would have to add some new studio material to them before they would be released as "Street Hassle". There were also other problems during the tour - Lou reportedly threatened at least 1 promoter, sacked his soundman "and kicked the monitors off the stage" during one show.

This recording historically circulated as "Mont De Marsan Punk Festival", but that festival took place on the 5th and 6th August. (One of the organisers of the Punk Festival was Marc Zermati, who was also (jointly) responsible for the the first Velvet Underground vinyl bootleg - "Evil Mothers"). I suppose it could be argued that Lou "headlined" the festival by appearing the next day.....There are long gaps between some songs (over 3 minutes after "Sweet Jane") while guitars are being re-tuned, and the audience get quite restless at times. Lou doesn't directly address the audience during the whole show other than to say a cursory "thank you" just before leaving the stage. He manages to fit in only 2 tunes from his last LP - the lightweight "Rock And Roll Heart" and a (relatively) lengthy buzz-saw rendition of "Banging On My Drum" - his ode to "drug masturbation". There are no "new" songs. "Kicks" gets the usual 1977 treatment - speed manic and menacing. "Leave Me Alone" also gets a long, long workout - possibly the longest available recorded version of this song.

This is a reasonable quality audience recording - the vocals are a bit muffled but there's not too much tape hiss. At least one other audience recording of this show exists, but it is incomplete and (in my opinion) inferior to this one.

A phenomenal concert from Bon Jovi in their prime! I highly recommend anyone who doesn't have this download it, just look at the setlist.

Note: Very long show (180 minutes), even longer than round 1 which was 160 minutes! Drift Away, a very rare song that was played as an introduction to Always. No Gloria excerpt in Bad Medicine this time. Stranger In This Town, a song from Richie Sambora's solo project from 1991. So You Wanna Be A Rock n Roll Star in full version! No My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms this time, but (It's Hard) Letting Go was played. I Can't Help Falling In Love was sung before Bed Of Roses instead of Diamond Ring. No I'd Die For You acoustic wise this time, but I'll Be There For You instead. Overall a great show with lots of surprises!

Notes by the uploader
This high-quality recording by Exploding Commode Productions was generously offered to me by the owner, and I performed a transfer and authored these DVD’s from the original tapes. This is the full, complete Yes Union concert as seen through a tripod-mounted camera and heard through stereo shotgun mics. The video was shot from a position on a balcony above a passageway, which provided a clear view of the revolving stage. Audio and video qualities are excellent. The eight-member line-up of Yes is in full-tilt mode after having toured for several months. The set has been pared down to a manageable number of tracks. Thanks to the excellent camerawork, the interaction of the band members and their joy of playing are plainly visible. And there’s a bit of a surprise when an unexpected guest makes an appearance on-stage during Roundabout. Put this one under the tree for your favorite Yes fan (yourself!) and have a ball during the holidays.
