Marooned65's notes:
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the On An Island Tour here's a complete uncirculated recording of the first concert. I bought this as a 3 DVDr set a while ago, so if you want you can call it a liberated dvd.The concert seems to be filmed with the camera on a tripod. The position seems to be last row in the middle. Although the picture quality is blurred you have a good total view what's going on at the stage.

Nipote's notes:
Nice document, I remember very well this first night, after the Mermaid Theatre, in my first days of IFWT hub.The video have a decent audio, but sometimes you can listen phone's interference so I decided to change the audio with the excellent DAT Master for this date (rec 4) taped or from Andreas C or from Rolf, not clear after 10 years.I made two small patches with original audio on the intro of A Pocketful Of Stones and on first notes of Wot's...Uh The Deal.

What you have here is an historic/vintage ZZTop's early recording. Sound quality is decent, i have heard a lot of worst, but consider that and listen to the sound samples. This show is circulated incomplete and with the wrong tracks' order, so for the first time you can have it like it was...you judge by yourself if download it or not.....

NOTES from "Ports" - who procured the silvers:

Many thanks to Buttmanos, Lurker Ray, and others in helping to find and liberate all the new Steely Dan related material the last few months. I am very happy to be able to help out with the first of two shows I was able to obtain. The Donald Fagen Band-Live at the Beacon is a great soundboard recording. The show does have a short set list (nothing from Kamakiriad?) and it has one song done by Donald’s special guest Martha Wainwright, which takes away another “Dan” related song. It does however have great cuts of IGY, FM, Pretzel Logic and another killer Goodbye Look ending with Donald saying “We be masterjamming!” Hope you like this one. Special thanks to Buttmanos for his time to rip, scan and get this out to all of you.

So definitely confirmed as a Russian looking like Japanese release using the OBI in most of its releases (Not for this upload as this bootleg is packaged in a boxset). Once described as above, please note on one hand for every release, a great powerful artwork & a strong improved remastered version from the original version. On the other hand, these are only CDrs, definitely not silver CDs! These AR bootlegs really deserve your download. Made in Moscow, they are not home-made even if released in very small units.

23.I Will Follow

The setlist tonight was almost identical to that performed last night. Indeed, it seemed like they might be exactly the same, but Bono called for one more—I Will Follow. It has only been played once on this current jaunt through the Americas, almost a month ago in New Orleans on 14 September. This now brings I Will Follow's number of performances on the current tour into double digits. Before playing the song, Bono claimed the band were about to play "our first song on Island Records", and if only they had, for that was in fact 11 O'clock Tick Tock. At the start of Bad, Bono sang a line of Van Morrison's Into the Mystic and then quoted famous Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges. He recited a line from Borges' poem El Amenazado (The Threatened One), first in Spanish and then—"in case I fucked it up"—in English. During With or Without You he brought a fan, Gabriela, on stage.

Radio broadcast. AM radio.

There were 2 recordings of this gig in different quality - both from AM radio, the other had more bass but this has much more clarity and less hiss. I used 2 min 42 seconds from the other version (with a little bit of noise reduction to lessen the hiss) that had been missed during the tape flip (last 1:04 of Iki Maska/first 1:38 of my Way). That's a lot missing, maybe the taper had left the room and didn't realise the tape had ended. I also added a missing 20 sec at the start and 12 sec at the end to make it as complete as possible.

Sound Quality:
Excellent soundboard. Track 2 of Disc 1 suffers from substantial distortion and occasional dropouts. During Out of Control at 2:37, it seems as though someone held down the fastfoward button, then released it (the word "opinion"sounds like it's being hiccuped or `rapped'). Also during Love Rescue me at 1:34 the sound is lost completely for a brief instance (this
error seems somewhat similar to what occurs at 2:37 during Out of Control). At any rate, the prevailing notion that the only error occurs during "Bullet the Blue Sky"--and that the rest of the recording is flawless is incorrect. I think these errors should be mentioned in the review since many fans could be mislead to think that the people they are trading with made errors while recording this show.

Comments:
This set captures the third night of The Point Depot shows in all it's splendor. Most notable on this bootleg are the soundboard recordings of "She's A Mystery To Me" (incorrectly labeled "Mystery Girl"), "All I Want Is You", and "11 O'Clock Tick Tock". The excellent version of "With Or Without You" interspersed with "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is not to be missed either! This is believed to be the only widely-available bootleg of this concert and is highly recommended to anyone who has the opportunity to obtain it. Tracks 6-8 performed with B.B. King. This is the original pressing on this label.

Supposedly taped by Bruce Botnick  for personal purposes.

"There are two versions circulating of this show, made from the same tape but through different transfers. The "Doors Collector Magazine" source, which is originated from the master is the most complete and has all the songs, but still comes with missing a couple of things. The other, 2nd generation copy floating around is less complete than the DCM copy but the sound is slightly better, not that bassy. Though it cuts up Mystery Train and 'The End' but leaves 'When The Music's Over' intact - the DCM copy fades out & in again in the silent part "What have they done to the earth..." and repeats the missing part (probably made during the copy of the tape due to a tape flip)." christophe

"I've put a copy of "The Doors On The Road" by Greg Shaw which will give you some informations about this performance. The recording was probably done by the Doors enginer Bruce Botnick on personal material, so it's not a soundboard recording but not really an audience one and it's quality is very good. I've got it from DCM before the Doors management ask Kerry Humpherys to stop his trades, except for the post Morrison's shows.
I've got it in a trade in 2004 from the "Doors Collector Magazine"." hugodemeline

"In April 1970, the Doors went back out on the road in three-day weekend bursts. "We could tell his energy was giving out," Ray said later in a radio interview. "He was really depleting his energy with alcohol." but they all needed cash-Densmore had bought a house, and Themis was bleeding Jim dry. Some of the shows were ragged, a few were desperate. "The first night would be OK," Ray said. "The second night he was drinking during the show. By Sunday night he was mostly hanging on the mike," trying to stay upright.
...
Next weekend: Honolulu Convention Center, April 18. Someone brought "da kine" backstage, "Maui Wowie," the most potent marijuana known to man. The Doors played for two hours in an inspired ganja trance. Jim stopped "Roadhouse Blues" because he didn't like the lighting. He started singing "Love hides in the strangest places," a riff that he kept performing that year. After the jam "People Get Ready/Mystery Train/Away In India/Cross Roads/People Get Ready," Jim launched into "Baby, Please Don't Go." The encore of this stoned soul picnic was "The End," interrupted for a poetry reading: "Stop The Car/Ensenada/Coda Queen." The audience cheered for ten minutes after the band left the stage, but there was no encore. Two days later Jim was acquitted of assault charges when the Continental Airlines stewardess testified that she had made a mistake in identifying him as the man who had harrassed her."

Done 2012-06-06

This was a typically rough sounding recording of Hawkwind in 1973. It had loads of hiss. I decided to see if I could improve its 'listenability' for my enjoyment. I have processed it fairly hard, but that was necessary. Purists would not like this I know, but I wasn't doing it for them. They can listen to the unprocessed version and everyone is happy. What is really nice is that this is the earliest known master recording of Hawkwind that I know. Thanks goes out to those who made this tape available, nice one.

Master Audience tapes received as three FLAC files.

Audio Processing done in Adobe Audition on a Mac Book Pro.

Noise reduction - Noise floor -9db, amount of reduction -18db

Patch right to left at 3:31 to 4:11 (Side one only)

Mild soft knee compression.

Patch Left to right 20:05 to 47:21 (Side one only)

Tidy up beginning and ends.
Removal of tape start & stop speed noises at beginning and at encore.

Generally it was side one that required the most work. Its a shame that the last 27 mins of side one was made to mono. This was because the levels were so low on the right channel that it was all hiss when the levels were balanced.

There were al lot of what appears to be mic handling noise through out this recording - bangs and thuds that are definitely not from the stage. Most are in-between songs but that means they are during the spacey sections and very apparent. I manually tried to re draw the wave - using envelope and amplitude effects - this took ages and some results are better than others.
