the instruments are well separated into left or right for the most part

there is no sense of a common mic location - each instrument appears balanced in the recording

unlike the prior night, the hiss is more prominant and the audio signal rolls off around 8 khz

d1t01: fades in. Plosin's site references a Bill Graham intro of ~ 0:04 which is not on this recording

d1t02: 8:36 thru 9:09 many little pops and crackle

d1t03 is a nice version of "What I Say" which highlights the ensemble support of the various lead instruments

d1t05: abruptly cuts off

Darren Glen put in numerous hours at the studio remastering this bootleg, using Lovetown Melbourne - Night Two as his primary source material. The result is outstanding. Again, crowd noise is present--there is no way to eliminate that - but the vocals are at the forefront and all of the instruments can be clearly heard. This is definitely one of the best first leg Loevtown recordings available. It is infinitely better than Tonight I Feel Drunk and personally, I like it better than the raw sound offered in Lovetown Melbourne - Night Two.

Comments Darren Glen:
There are three different recordings of this show in the archive, all from different positions within the arena and with different equipment. By far the best recording was probably a transfer to CD-R from the original source tape...this version sounds like it was recorded with excellent mics and to a recording unit that wasnt plagued with Auto Gainwhich is good, as this allows the recording to retain excellent punch and dynamics. However I imagine that the mics used were not flat in response, leaving the sound seriously lacking in bottom end, and with a fairly harsh top end, and the recording was playing at the wrong speed (too fast). Unfortunately this recording was also missing 3 1/2 songs....but half of 'I Will Follow' remained. All of these anomalities were corrected and the frequency balance restored to a full, clean and tight response. The second recording was from a different location and using less superior equipment, but fortunately the missing songs from the better version above were in complete form here. This show was on a first generation TDK SA tape and was fully restored (NR, EQ, Speed Adj, etc) before the missing songs were re-balanced and slotted into the above recording in the correct position to make a complete recording for the project...entitled Bad at its Best...this is without a doubt the most incredible performance of Bad in the archive....and better than any of the versions of Bad from 87 shows i've heard as well. Bonos voice roars as he puts all of the singing phrases that he uses individually in different versions of Bad all into this one performance, and flawlessly. He ends up singing in all 3 sections right to the very end of the song just to fit them all in, instead of leaving the last section an instrumental as is usually the case. (This extension only happened one other time, in Tokyo.)

As with many FM recordings, it's compressed to bloody HELL!! Why do they make the music so G-damn loud with overboard compression? Few notes about the remastering. I removed much of the harshness in the treble range and adjusted down the amplitude to 80% of 0dB.

The best sound heard until now for an audience recording. Theonly drawback is (of course) the crowd. This is a must have

Mutinae is easily the best audience recording I have ever heard. Vocals and instruments are very clear. Sound effects (i.e. "For millions of years man live just like the animals . . .") are a little quiet and the recording seems to be a little heavy on the bass.

There is a very brief drop out somewhere on the first disk (sorry, I forget exactly where) and either a quick mike movement or a fade out during the beginning synthesizer part of Sorrow. The performance itself is absolutely extraordinary. The Dark Side set is much more enjoyable than the one on Pulse and has an excellent Any Colour You Like. During the speaking parts, Dave alternates between Italian and English. I own and have heard a lot of the 94 tour disks and this is by far my favorite. As mentioned in the above review, this is a must-have. - TonyW

The Digital Dan:
Now finding a Floyd soundboard is not a common occurrence. Of all the major bands from the early 70's, Floyd is the least represented by board sourced live recordings of the other major acts of the time. This soundboard came to the members of DR in May of 2001 and is quite interesting. The set list on this Italian performance differs greatly from the official release "Pulse" and is also different from the "Earl's Court" gigs including the official Pulse video and the various bootlegs of those shows that were broadcast. This particular source is an analog tape and is a few gens old, so there is some tape hiss to this show. The sound is quite good, maybe a little lacking in the high end during certain parts of the show. All in all a very good performance, but nothing of major note happening on this night. Well, take that back, something worth hearing is the "kazoo orchestra" during the break in "Money". It's pretty funny and you can hear the "kazoo players" having a hard time of it. This disc is nothing short of amazing. The performance is dead-on, and the vocals are way up front in your face. The recording is perfect digital quality right off of the soundboard. The show itself is among the best of the tour, and the song line-up is a taper's dream. The filler is great as well, with more of the standard fare '93 material rounding out the best surprise of 1993. This 2 CD set  is, plain and simple, a ' must-have' package.

3 years on from the YesSymphonic Tour, here we have unearthed an excellent stage mic recording of the Danbury 2001 show, a different source than the lower quality audience version that's circulating in the Yes trading scene. This rates as one of the best sounding shows from 2001, at least as good as the best audience recordings from the tour. No other source information is available. All credit goes to windowkbm, who traded for this wonderful recording and encoded it to SHN. After verifying the MD5 signuatures, I converted it to FLAC (SHN->WAV[mkwACT]->FLAC[Flac Frontend])
