Audio source and quality: Audience, excellent quality. I've improved the audio even further from the original, although that sounded great already. Minor audio fluctuations here and there but no problems for the most part.

Special features: Due to Rob's accident, Hell Bent for Leather is played instrumentally for so far the only time in history.

This show is historical in two ways; first, it was the last show the band played for almost seven years, and the last Judas Priest show with Rob Halford until the 2004 Reunion TOUR. Secondly, it was at this show where Rob had his famous motorcycle accident which knocked him out for the duration of opening number Hell Bent for Leather, making it so far the only time in history that this song was played as an instrumental.

Here is our capture of Joe Walsh from the "One Hellava Night" Tour with Bad Co., and an acoustic guitar-singer (Steve Rogers, without his band), both opening for Joe. We were in the 2nd row of sec. 236 (dead center to the stage). The sound mix was very good, the LA area crowd was pretty well behaved and the recording came out well. Joe appeared to enjoy himself this cool and breezy full-moon friday evening. Note, Ringo sat in on Drums for the first encore, RMW!

Jeff Beck Group - 1968-07-17 - Dallas, TX (AUD/FLAC)

(Audience FLAC)

Recording Information ::: unknown stereo recording equipment -> master stereo AUD tape (probably reel) -> ? -> "Miami '68" boot CD ripped with EAC

Remastering 2013-05-xx ::: flacs -> Trader's Little Helper -> wavs -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch / dropout / bump / pop / click / dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, speed fixes, single passes for affected areas, NO added EQ except for #1 to match the rest) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2014-05-16. (NOTE: The original "Miami '68" source certainly used some EQ, but it was well done & a better source to work from.

Total Time ::: 1:15:41

::: VERY fine, stereo, up-close AUD (especially for its vintage). Check samples for predilection predictions or to rev yr engines.
::: Warts: NOT MANY! Some hiss in 1st 4 seconds of #1 with couple of fluctuations due to recovering music that was too low volume to hear - for more Beck! Some lite broad spectrum hiss in right channel. Some light overturation distortion on extremely loud passages but nothing serious! Fixed dropouts & dullspots but likely missed a few. Deleted blank spots between songs. The last 3rd of master tape was clearly in better condition. Lowered some loud clapping between trax. Channels were SERIOUSLY out of phase/alignment (mike spread?) & very different info in channels but was adjusted at ~2 minute intervals & sounds WAY better - without killing the wonderful stereo recording but simply correcting the enormous delay between channels.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: This is a 2014 NEWLY REMASTERED version of the "Miami '68" boot CD DIMED twice before. Part was also included in the upload "Like A Hurricane Primsoul-Live Archives 1968-1969". This HAS the added alternate source 1st track as noted.
::: CORRECTION CLAUSE: I screwed up & originally uploaded this using the incorrect Miami date/location & MISSING track 1 (which wasn't used on the 'Miami'CD. This is a CORRECTED & COMPLETE remastered version. (OLD version was torrent #492370 Jeff Beck Group 1968-11-16 Miami Beach uploaded on 2014-05-17).
::: #11 "Rice Pudding" (an instrumental) is introduced here as "Mother's Old Rice Pudding" & as being played for the first time.
::: Touring to promote the new "Truth" album, which had only been released in August (tho' it'd been in the works for long time!).
::: No artwork included as some of the photos used could be considered proprietary, sorry. Seek & ye shall find.
::: Many thanks to KRW_CO for permission to remaster that source for track #1 (so the recording could be completed).
::: In a previous torrent a DIMER noted the same setlist timed 79:27 but I think it's a typo. This one is 75:41 with speed correction & KRW_CO is 75:38.

Cool freaking recording & now is some much healthlier ear fodder. Some sources note this as SBD but tis clearly an AUD (but quite hi-fi for its vintage & probable volume of the band). If in doubt about AUD source, go to the break before the end of "Rock My Plimsoul" & you can hear the taper laughing. The extreme stereo mike placement (left mike more at stage or vocal PA, left channel captures more audience) is quite interesting. Perhaps this should be considered a "not-for-purists remaster", as I did a much more volume tinkering than I normally do. The original had problems, but I was fairly agressive here to really improve the sound - in my opinion, for my ears. In fact, it was an important part of the equation after the very extreme channel phase correction. Almost certainly from a reel-to-reel master source originally with possibly 1 or 2 reel generations (doubtful there were any cassette generations).

I learned a lot about this band thru this tape. Ron Wood playing bass with a real rhythm guitar sound in some songs. I did some reading about Ron on a bass player forum while researching the keys for some songs & one thing they really respect about him is he rarely played something the same way twice. While the quality on this recording is stunning overall, I would say this is not the absolute best Jeff Beck Group performance of the era. They make some mistakes & some of the performances don't gel or are not as explosive as others around of the same vintage. "Jeff´s Boogie" is a bit scattered. The band seems a bit put off by how unresponsive & quiet the audience is. One comment from the band is that it's like playing in a library. HOWEVER... Jeff's making a LOT of strange, experimental guitar noises, seemingly more than usual, though I suspect they are just much more noticeable here than other shows due to the clear sound. I would say this rates near the very top of the "must-hear" JBG shows of '68/69, as it is so painless to listen to & so possible to discern what's going on. Many of the other recordings I have (the Tea Party comes to mind right away) are so distorted, that it is quite hard to get a clear picture of the experience. This is a very cool recording, the Jeff Beck Group in 1968, live, with Rod & Ron & the quality MORE than makes up for ANY lack of performance intensity in my opinion, and, even on a bad day, the smoke was risin' off the stage.

I had gotten this recording some time back, but recently saw it making the rounds again, but with the notes altered to claim it as a soundboard, which it is (clearly) not. However, it is a wonderful recording.... Anyway, seeing it again, I remembered being puzzled a few years ago why it all sounds like it was coming out of one channel. Well, it was partly the volume imbalance but mostly it was EXTREME phase offset between the two stereo channels. I think one of the mikes was pointing in such a way there was a huge timing difference for when the sound reached the mike compared to the other mike (layman's terms). So, I decided to give it some remastering effort. There was an INCREDIBLE improvement right away. the inital phase correction was 38 cents! Then it had to be adjusted throughout the recording, likely from mike motion. Another thing that really worked for me was the speed correction in the first set, which, tho' not dramatically changed, brought Rod's voice to a more familiar sounding timbre. Do hope you like it.

The end of "Rock Me To The Top" and the beginning of "Lady Luck" are missing (CBG moved from the cheap seats to a spot in front of the stage).

My intention was to post this last week on Monday but I got an impromptu job trip for the week. Then I was going to post both this and the headliner last night to make up for missing last week and my neighbors house caught on fire. Not what I expected to happen at all. The weird thing was I was listening to Roger Waters Deja Vu a half hour before the fire happened. When I was 9 years old, two friends and I went underneath a one room school portable and made a little fire to hang out. We put it out as planned. It was a Saturday. On Monday morning we went to school and the portable was a heap of black rubble. We all swore never to mention it or we would be going to prison. That's what we thought at 9 years old. That happened in early December. Then on Christmas morning, another friend and I were riding our new bikes when we saw smoke coming from the other block. We raced over with our mouths making siren noises and rode between the homes to the other block. The garage was pouring out flames. I went to the front door and opened it as it was unlocked. I started yelling to get out of the house that it was on fire. They all stumbled out and said they were taking sleeping pills from a Christmas party the night before (they were probably doing drugs but I didn't know about that kind of thing at 9 years old). We saved the whole family from dying of smoke inhalation. We hit the lottery though as kids, because they owned Marchiano's pizza and they gave us two boys lifetime pizza and sodas there. Oh yea! In the December school bulletin, it said, 'Our hats off to me for saving the Marchiano family in a Christmas Day blaze by noisemaking to wake them up...', the second paragraphs said, 'Still no clues to who burnt down the one room school portable...'.

So yesterday, after listening to Deja Vu, I decided at that moment to go out and get some food. Shut off the stereo and walked outside. I smelled something like burning plastic and thought that didn't smell right. So I looked at my home and noticed nothing and then to my neighbors home to the left of me. Nothing. Then I looked back towards my house and could see something like smoke over my tall tree in my front yard. I walked around the trees and my neighbors garage and bonus room above it were engulfed in flames. I ran to their front door, went to open it and it was locked. I banged on the door and my neighbors came and opened it. They were sitting in front of the TV. They had no idea of what was going on. Ugh. I got them out of the house and everyone lived. Deja Vu to almost 40 years ago when it first happened this way. Weird. I guess I have made up for burning that portable down twice now! That is why I am posting the shows today. Onto the release....

I only have one request, that you don't take these files and post them on other torrent sites. I have many shows to upload. I will upload, let them get seeded by others and after a majority have downloaded the files completely, remove my files so I can seed something new. I prefer to manage my own shows on DIME and The Traders Den. I will upload to other sites when I wish to for select shows. Thanks for honoring my wishes in advance.

This is “CBG Classic Master Video Series Vol. 62”.

In 1987, I was still only audio taping when Def Leppard came through the northeast on their Hysteria world tour. I knew Def Leppard but I didn’t know much about the warm up band they had supporting them. They had their first album Mechanical Resonance out by then and their song Modern Day Cowboy was being played on the radio a lot. I really liked that song, so I planned on recording them as well. Turns out, I liked a lot of the songs they played on first listen at the show. I went out and bought the album after that concert.

A couple years later in 1989, they were the support act for Poison’s first headlining tour for Open Up and Say…Ahh! They were playing our local fairgrounds in Middletown, NY. I had never filmed there, but the NYBG had filmed there before. He would have his partner get the camera in because he was a large guy and could put that huge Sony V5 down his pants and keep it concealed. I could have never done that with that large camcorder and the security at the Orange County Fairgrounds would search you fairly well. Filming and standing the whole time was not the NYBGs favorite thing to do. That was something I liked to do and it was more of the element I liked to film in. Standing in a crowd where I could blend in. Standing and holding the camcorder to my face. I also wanted to film this show and the warm-up band too. So the NYBG and Tom helped me get my camcorder in and do the show.

I started filming on the bleachers in the back for Tesla because I thought I would get popped being so close on the floor filming like the NYBG did it. Especially in the daylight. This was in June when the days were the longest and it was daylight up to 9pm. They would set the stage up in the infield of a race track (it was also Orange County Raceway) and it would face the grandstand on one side. There was a little infield within the oval race track where the GA crowd would stand. After a song or two, the NYBG convinced me to come down to the floor from the bleachers and that he made a wood chip mound for me to stand on. You see, they would fill the infield with woodchips for the crowd to stand on in front of the stage. So, NYBG would go there, and use his foot to scoop up a mound of wood chips to stand on. That way you could be a little higher than everyone else standing on the flat floor. He contested that the Security would not care if I was filming in the GA crowd like that and not come out and get me. That worked mostly and definitely to date with him.

So now I am down on the floor and we made a wood chip mound and I was able to stand up on it and I would be about a foot taller than the crowd of people around me. There would always be a few tall guys and you would get guys putting their chicks on their shoulders, but they couldn’t keep that up for the whole show. So, there you would be on a wood chip mound for the show sticking out of the crowd like a sore thumb and have a huge camcorder to your face filming. I thought for sure I would be popped but I wasn’t. It was daylight for the beginning of Tesla's set too. I was able to film the whole band up close and in their face from the floor. Other than Kiss at the Ritz in 1988 and Paul Stanley at Toad’s Place in 1989, both bars, I had never filmed like this close before in a normal concert setup. Especially in a summer shed or arena. So this was fun to do. I didn’t even need to use the 2x lens on my camcorder to get added closeness. I could have but it was nice to be able to zoom back and get the whole stage view with no ring from the lens. Being that close, you wanted to be able to zoom back as much as you could to get the full stage view too. I was right up front. After the Kiss, Paul Stanley and Tesla shows, I started to get my Modern Day Cowboy BALLS to do this sort of thing. Get Ballsy and shoot the show up close to the band. It wasn’t like now where you can whip out your iPhone and film against the stage back in 1989. It had to be done on a camcorder, a large one. And you had to have balls to do it. In an arena doing that you would have been tackled by those goon security guys and who knows what would have happened. This show that didn't happen.

At the 4:52 mark and again at the 6:18 mark in the show, I was able to zoom in on Kiss Konvention Marrrrrrvvvvvv, the dude behind the barricade who would take all of your money for Kiss Houston Love Gun proshots that he milked everyone's money for through the 80's and 90's. Enjoy Tesla rocking out the fairgrounds in Middletown! CBG5150 Posted to TTD 2017-07-03.

B7 Heart Like A Wheel

Notes:

This recording comes from the vinyl bootleg "Live At The Roxy" from the Ze Anonym Plattenspieler label (ZAP 7888). This bootleg was partly known among collectors for its paper insert, which is pretty raunchy (see attached photo). The condition of this vinyl was Near Mint when I played it back to perform the digital transfer. I don't know the performance's date for an exact fact, but etree is saying it's from an unknown day in July 1976 (see link below). The right channel on side A may be slightly lower than the left channel. Nero didn't really offer a way for me to correct it. I believe there may be cuts on the record between tracks A4 - A5, B4 - B5, and B5 - B6 because there are noticeable transitions. Anyway, this is an excellent performance! Just thought I'd share!

Source:
FM > flacs kindly provided by jazzrita > Nero 8 (edit) > TLH (flac6 + md5 + SBE / Decode Check)

Editing:
Corrected FM phase offset
Corrected many volume and balance fluctuations
Cross-mixed channels (99:1 ratio)
Noise print NR, very low setting, mainly to improve sound quality rather than max. noise reduction
De-hum transitions between announcer and music start
Increased overall volume by +1dB
Removed some of the announcer and smoother out track transitions / tape flips
Retracked
Added flac tags with artwork from the DVD above, note: these will be deleted if files are altered in any way.

Quality: Worth an A+ now, would be more without the remaining FM noise

Rec. Info:
bootleg LP -> transfer via Thorens TD 146 + Magix Music Cleaning Lab to harddisk -> Magix Music Cleaning Lab (remaster/edit) -> FLAC (44,1 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo) -> DIME
This is one of the best audience recordings from the Serious Moonlight Tour and it seems to be the complete show. I have made no EQ as this is a very balanced and clear
recording. Each instrument and especially David's voice come across very pronounced. The only things I made is to correct some sound levels and most of the clicks.

I bought this double album right after it was released so it must have been the first pressing of the recording. The album cover has the following extra info:
DRJONES 180683 LTD. EDITION NA220 GTP.
It's a great show with David in very good mood and it provides the rarely played Red Sails. I attended the show in Frankfurt on 20.05.1983 which was one of the first of the whole tour.
