A rare audience recording from 1969 (rare in the sense that few recordings from 1969 exist since The Doors didn't play many shows in the aftermath of the Miami incident). This is a first generation recording. There are a few bootlegs out there that feature songs from this night and none of them sound quite this good. The drums come through terrifically and Jim's vocals are right up in the mix. The guy who taped this show must have been right near the stage.

This show contains a unique "Back Door Man" medley where Jim includes lyrics from "Roadhouse Blues" and "Maggie M'Gill." Definitely worth a listen. Though only 7 tracks, the show lasts for about an hour thanks in part to a long version of "The End," where Jim explains how proud he feels to be performing "on the same stage with so many illustrious musical geniuses."

Unfortunately, while much of the festival was filmed, it doesn't appear that The Doors' set was (rumors persist that footage exists but no concrete information has ever surfaced). The Doors were the last to go on that night after John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band, and by all accounts, the camera crew was already packing its gear by then. The only footage that's known to exist are shots of The Doors arriving in their car during the opening sequence to D.A. Pennebaker's 1972 film "Sweet Toronto." Watch the opening here ( and see if you can spot Ray and Jim at about the 2:50 mark (Jim is in the front passenger seat with his back to the camera; Ray is directly behind him and spots the camera).

Argenteum Astrum :

The listener is faced with a hissy, distant, muddy and sometimes distorted sound source. This makes parts of recording hard going a bit but generally tape is listenable. Also the occasional tape disturbance is picked up here too.

Bootleg CD Reference(s):
Burn Like A Candle (Smoking Pig), Burn That Candle (Tarantura2000), ...Do You Remember Laughter? (Dadgad Productions), Night At The Heartbreak Hotel (Missing Link), Sometime In New York City (Image Quality), Whole Lotta Led (Badgeholders), & Whole Lotta Led - Get The Led Out (Tarantura2000)

A legendary show where Zeppelin really shines and plays some of their best music this tour! Robert's voice is incredibly gutsy and the band is unstoppable as they roll through the set! Dazed And Confused is beyond belief and the Whole Lotta Love medley is exceptional, with many obscure references. The encores are great including a rare, great version of Weekend. During the last encore the auditorium joining in with the whole band so Plant said: "I wanna hear you louder than us!"

Audio source and quality: Audience, excellent quality. I've improved the audio even further from the original, although that sounded great already. Minor audio fluctuations here and there but no problems for the most part.

Special features: Due to Rob's accident, Hell Bent for Leather is played instrumentally for so far the only time in history.

This show is historical in two ways; first, it was the last show the band played for almost seven years, and the last Judas Priest show with Rob Halford until the 2004 Reunion TOUR. Secondly, it was at this show where Rob had his famous motorcycle accident which knocked him out for the duration of opening number Hell Bent for Leather, making it so far the only time in history that this song was played as an instrumental.

This torrent is dedicated to L.P., who was not the only one, but the most memorable member of a small group of "collectors" who had to harrass me with hate mails for being so slow in getting this torrent out here, after I had made public the discovery of this reel about a year ago and at the same time announced, that I will torrent it " as soon as I can", or "when I have the time for it".

Emails that called me a "slow motherfucker", "lying little shank", "scammer & bullshitter"...yes folks, that´s exactly what you want to hear from people who will after all get it for free but can´t wait for a year or so. To all of those who participated in calling me names: i would love to make sure that you´ll never get a copy of this as you don´t deserve a single bit of my personal time and efforts that went into contacting Harald and getting the reel for the transfer. Of course I can´t prevent it, and I am happy to share it with everyone. But watch out: instant karma´s gonna get you!

But enough now, back to the tape: this recording was discovered in late 2009 while a german radio station was doing research for a special on the Hendrix show in Stuttgart. Back then, the taper, Harald Rapp (all thanks have to go to him!) made available a cassette copy. That cassette copy was heavily equalized and worked on in the legendary FAUST studio in Scheer, with substantial help of FAUST legend Hans Joachim Irmler, and the radio station used a snippet of "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" for the broadcast. Shortly thereafter I was able to contact Harald myself and got his copy of the complete cassette tape, which is where all previous versions of the "real" Stuttgart source came from. It turned out that the cassette was actually a 2nd gen copy of his original master recording. The master had been recorded onto casette, then in the 70ties Harald had made a dub to reel to reel, and at the end of the Seventies he made another dub from that reel to cassette again, as the times for his reel deck had passed. The master cassette had vanished in the meantime. Apparently he omitted a few segments for his last 2nd gen dub, and while we were talking about all this, he decided that another search for the 1st gen reel should be done. Luckily one year (check this out L.P.! I am not the only one who takes "soon" or "when I have the time" as possibly being a year or so...) later, he got back to me and said he had finally located the reel in a box stored away at a friends house and was I still intereted in it? Well...yes! Indeed the reel featured the complete recording as it was preserved on his master cassette with substantially more music than the 2nd gen cassette that was used for the radio broadcast. We now have the full Foxy Lady (this one was cut on the versions before), a new Stone Free as well as a yet unheard Sunshine of your Love. Bingo! This transfer was done on a Grundig reel to reel deck and the reason it took me so long to get it out to torrentland was my hope to get a better reel to reel deck for another transfer, but no one (especially not the ones bitching about why it takes so long) was able or willing to help. I do not want to ship the reel anywhere. So unless someone is willing to come to my place with a nice Revox B77 or a similar deck, this transfer is likely the one that you all will have to live with. This has not been touched at all, it is the raw transfer. It has less hiss than the earlier version, but the overall sound does not appear to be much better on first listening, as it was not heavily equalized. I would hope that some of the usual remastering suspects would be willing to donate some of their time to this. I hope you will all enjoy this now (finally) complete show by the JHE in Stuttgart from 1969!

This was borrowed from Crosstown torrents by a friend that sent it this way, and is a merge of the first (rubber dubber lp) and third source(tape), with real stereo separation. Nothing on the tracker, thank you to the original uploaders, the original fellow who did the work, and everyone else. Enjoy! as the lp titel said, this is a real keeper. 7 complete 1967/68 performances from Sweden and Denmark - presented together for the first time officially licensed from the estate of Hendrix’s former manager, Michael Jeffery individually numbered, only 2000 copies world-wide.

Presented here are complete concerts sourced from amateur recordings with the exception of the 5th September live radio show which is now in improved sound quality over its previous release on Stages. What you will hear on these concerts from Sweden and Denmark is the raw energy of those early shows and the excitement of fans perhaps seeing Jimi for the first time and being blown away by the Experience. You will hear what they heard; you will become part of the audience, you will share their Experience. For us, this more than makes up for what it might lack in recording quality; we believe these tapes have adequate clarity and deserve release on their own merit. You will also hear occasional problems that Jimi faced with the mismatch of volume levels between voice and instruments due to inadequate, low-powered public address systems for his vocals and sometimes unreliable guitar amplifiers. Although on first glance the set-lists look repetitive, one has to bear in mind that Jimi never played the same song in the same way twice. He liked to keep things fresh and was a master of Improvisation, hence his love of jamming.

Jimi Hendrix - Scandinavia Vol. 2 (AUD/FLAC)

A 6 CD Collectors Numbered Limited Edition. Officially licensed from the Michael Jeffery Estate, and individually numbered, only 2000 copies world-wide.

Scandinavia had proved to be an extremely positive and fertile market for the music of Jimi Hendrix. This boxed set contains recordings from two specific tours and although there is only twelve months between the two sets of concerts captured here much had happened to Jimi between the two tours.

The 1969 tour finds Jimi and the Experience heading out on what would be the original Experience’s final tour. The second series of recordings, drawn from 1970, found the band (often billed as the Experience but featuring Jimi, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox) fresh from the previous day’s massive Isle Of Wight concert performing the first of these concerts in Stockholm. Jimi Hendrix however would be dead in just over two weeks after commencing this brief Scandinavian tour which followed as series of concerts in Germany that had ended in disarray. The two concerts featured in this boxed set of recordings do capture the essence of Jimi Hendrix live and certainly do not show any lessening in his talent either as a song writer or performer and for this reason these recordings are important.

because this has never been near a bootleg CD. This funky little recording comes from a cassette that I've had in my collection for more years than I care to remember, well probably since sometime around the 1990s. It's a pretty good show with the bonus of the two blues back to back. As for the sound, that's purely subjective so that depends on where your definition of listenable lands when it comes to Hendrix audience recordings. I'd call it expansive.

a - Again, I believe years ago this was referred to as the "3rd Source", & "Loud Guitar" Source was referred to as "1st Source", but not so these days. I only note this because you may already have this tagged/noted as a different source, etc.

A very good show in the face of rowdy Scottish audience. Good versions of Dazed And Confused and Heartbreaker, with some great guitar work on Black Dog, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, The Song Remains The Same and Stairway To Heaven. Also Plant's vocals are solid throughout.
