Country Style USA was a radio program syndicated by the US Army Band and Recruiting Services and broadcast as a recruiting tool for them.

Produced by the U.S. Treasury Department in the 1940s and 1950s as a public service program, Guest Star features a different often top-name "guest star" (singer, actor, comedian) each week to promote the sales of savings bonds

previoulsy circulated with incorrect dates of 1958 & 1959. listening to talk n these and doing a bit of digging around determined to be earlier broadcast than originally circulated as

*13 . Get Rhythm " Our Latest Release on Sun" - recorded 1956
released as the B side of Walk The Line - April 2 1956

difficult to pin down an actual date on this - the website http://www.otrsite.com/logs/logc1075.htm starts at episode 39 broadcast 07-05-1956 - these would have been recorded at least a couple weeks before broadcast - it is very possible that a May - June 1956 recording date is correct here since that would be correct time in regards to a latest release

1959-06-28 Guest Star best guess per http://www.otrcat.com/guest-star-radio-p-1350.html

"Uh, just kind of, you know, let your mind flow, leave your body behind." - Agustus, K-News, Dallas.

This is real classic stuff and the recording (aside from a couple of mic bumps in Sookie, Sookie) is surprisingly good. From what I understand this was remastered by TheTooleman who did a fine job. The performance is hot... I mean this really rocks! There's some great banter with the crowd that is pretty indicative of the good feelings this band carried with them.

It's really interesting to note the crowds lack of reaction when they mention Born To Be Wild but very understandable considering this show was apparently only about a week after it was released. My favorite pub had to take that tune off the Jbox cuz whenever anyone played "the anthem" the place went apeshit.

Notes by the taper:
Ok, so the set was cut for some strange reason. I wanted to hear Killer of giants but that one was gone, as was Into the void. At least the latter must have been a spur of the moment decision since Geezer seemed intent on playing one more song, but hastily left the stage when Ozzy announced I don´t wanna change the world, and Blasko didn´t seem prepared either so in the video you see him arriving on stage when the song is already under way. Strange this, since Ozzy was in a great mood, the weather was nice (though a bit cold) and the audience seemed pretty appreciative.

Nonetheless I did enjoy myself. It was a good gig, too short by anyone´s standards but the addition of Slash was a welcome bonus since I enjoyed his playing. Best songs of the evening were Fairies, Change and Mama since I had dreamed of seeing Ozzy with Zakk since I never had the chance all those years ago.

I had a golden circle-ticket so I was quite close to the stage. Lots of clapping and cheering and I did not have high hopes about the recording. As it turns out it´s not too shabby. A little tinny perhaps, but overall very listenable. Listen to the youtubeclip and decide for yourself.

Introduction by DGB :
As previously indicated in a posting by Boguspomp, in a joint colaboration between DGB & Boguspomp all of my Eric Clapton master recordings will be released under the DGB-EC series. All of these recordings will be transferred directly from my master recordings & remastered by the wonderful & talented Boguspomp for optimum sound quality. Many of these recordings have been released in various formats over the years including releases under bootleg labels such as Mid Valley. All of these releases have never been taken directly from my master recordings since I have never given or authorised the release of my master recordings directly to any bootleg label. The intent is to release the best versions possible of these recordings.

I will provide my own personal comments based on my recollections & memories of each show that is released. Some of these stories will include the many challenges of recording shows. References will be made to personal contacts & friends, but for privacy purposes, no names will be disclosed. Anyone reading these stories will know who you are. I will also provide my own personal opinion ab ut the sound quality of each recording, as well as the quality of Eric's performance. I have seen Eric Clapton countless times (80+ and counting) and am very critical, not only of my own recordings, but also of Eric's playing. These are my own personal opinions, which you may not necessarily agree with,
but having seen Eric Clapton as many times as I have, I feel that I am probably a good judge.
If you do not agree with my comments, please do not hold this against me. Remember this is just my personal opinion.

Both Boguspomp and I would like to hear from anyone with any feedback or opinions whether these are good or bad.

Comment by DGB about this show :
Located in the 1st block right hand side of stage... Very good to excellent recording...
Outstanding performance... One of the best shows that I ever seen from Eric & definitely one of the best shows from the 1992 tour.
Eric came out on fire right from the start. Great versions of ''She's Waiting'',''Before You Accuse Me'', ''Old Love'', ''Tearing Us Apart'' & ''Crossroads''.
Out of the many shows that I have recorded, this venue had one of the tighest security that I have ever experienced.
Went to this show with a good friend of mine... He walked in first through the gates. The security were searching people from head to toe.
Never seen anything like this before... Unfortunatley my friend got caught with his recording equipment.
However, rather than checking himself in he walked back out of the venue.
Since I could see that the security guard was distracted with this incident, I purposely moved myself to him so that I could be searched & go in.
Amazingly he did not search me one little bit as his eyes were still wandering on my friend.
Little did he suspect that there would be 2 people in a row walking in with recording equipment!

Comments by Boguspomp :
Ok, here is the first of many 1992 shows to come. In the next couple of days I will post 4 february 1992 shows and also Vancouver 2001.
After that we continue for a while with more KAR (Kick Ass Recordings), followed by a bunch of the RAH 1992 shows.

As DGB mentions above, we will post eventually all his recordings of EC shows.
This one starts off with a lot of power and remains throughout the show on a very high level. Between Old Love and Badge is a tapeflip, so a good place to split the CD's.

It's a most excellent performance. I would recommend this one to everybody
My favourites here is the early version of "My Fathers Eyes" (quite different from the version that Clapton released 6 years later, officially) and "Old Love".
I must admit that I have always disliked "She's Waiting". Sounded like such a parody of a song. But this version (and other 1992 versions) of "She's Waiting" made me appreciate it; as the sound and guitarplaying by Clapton in 1992 was so strong; that he even made a turd into silver.

Their first live show in thirteen years, played to an enthusiastic crowd at New York's finest venue. Bowery Ballroom only holds about 550 people, so the tickets sold out almost immediately, disappointing countless fans. The recording came out pretty well, despite the fact that I repeatedly had to dodge security who were watching for people using flash cameras. The sound was a little bass-heavy in the venue, but generally good, as it usually is at Bowery Ballroom. Rick McCollum seemed a bit rusty at several points during the show, but the rest of them sounded great. I'm sure they will strengthen as they make their way through Europe. Hard core fans will enjoy track 9, where Dulli mixes it up with some jerk in the crowd. Somehow he doesn't seem as menacing at age 47 as he did twenty years ago. Anyway, it's great to have them back!

Shameless plea to all of you -- Perhaps the best show i've ever seen out of well over 500 concerts was the Twilight Singers show at Irving Plaza on October 16, 2004. I don't think they took the stage before midnight and didn't leave until about 2:30 or so. I know at least two different people taped the show and no amount of cash or trades were enough to get either of them to produce a copy for anyone. Can anyone help? Has anyone ever seen that show circulate anywhere? Thanks.

A funny thing is that we sat next to the mixing desk, which was HUGE and looked like a space command center at NASA

Here is yet another crisp soundboard from Phil's 1990 But Seriously world tour, and again, it is courtesy of The Genesis Movement website.  This recording, though incomplete, is what I refer to as a "mainline soundboard" recording in the sense that the audience is barely audible on the recording, thus making this a direct soundboard feed.  I have never understood why some soundboard shows sound more like a live album and some (like this one) have the audience so far in the back of the mix as to almost be imperceptible, but each style has its merits.  For this show in particular, the volume is so intense right from the outset that it is sure to blow you away.  As a drummer, I was fascinated to first hear this recording because it helped me to analyze how PC actually tuned his drum heads back then.  In turn, I have been better able to tune my own heads more in this fashion.  Just listen to the precision of his playing and the reaction of the sticks on the heads on the opening track, Hand In Hand, and you will surely understand.  But enough blather from me.  On with the show...

I recently found this disc again stored away with a few other unknown (unlabeled) items. Unfortunately I can't exactly remember how I got this. I believe a friend gave it to me years ago, before I had a computer and was able to download gems like this. I have to warn you though....this is of a rather poor quality. Every once in a while the screen turns black, there's a lot of shakin' goin' on, and well...I'd say it's a bit of a dodgy video! But...the atmosphere was simply AMAZING! David was having a very good time, chatty, cheerful, and the sound is fairly okay as well, so I had a great time watching this again, hope you will too!

Comments:
We all know how hard it is to find footage of Lovetown Tour especially unreleased stuff and this one was no exception. I got this in a trade from a great friend and I would like to share with you all.

This was the 2nd (and probably the best) of 3 shows U2 did in Dortmund during the LoveTown Tour. A few highlights of the show and nice snippets like, "Like A Hurricane" during "ALL Along The Watchtower", "Sexual Healing" during "All I Want Is You", the beautiful snippet "Norwegian Wood" after "Bad" and "Suspicious Minds" in the middle of "Angel Of Harlem" , also Bono calls a girl on stage during "Bad" to dance with her and during "People Gets Ready", a couple fans are brought on stage to play guitar, really nice stuff. Other highlights not very beautiful (loll) you'll see Edge falling on stage during "I Will Follow".

PS: For some unknown reason, you tube doesn't show the true quality of the video, it looks a lot better than the you tube sample

With Jared’s passing in October 2016, the complete JEMS Archive was moved south from his home up north. That move, sad as its impetus was, presented an opportunity, however daunting, to go through and organize the collection. With the help of some amazing friends and experts (among them Slowburn, SS, RD and slipkid68), JEMS tapes are now accessible in ways they have never been before. SG was also on hand to help and fill in our taping history as he always does.

When the task was done and loaded into the truck, one box in particular captured my attention: master reels recorded by SG on his Tandberg portable reel to reel. We’ve posted some 20 or more of these on DIME over the years, but this box contained master reels that had never been digitized before and, in some instances, had never been traded or circulated.

If you don’t know about the Tandberg, it was a remarkable piece of gear in its day, not only capable of recording at 3-¾ and 7-½ IPS, but in full-track mono. I won’t do the math, but compared to a cassette, the surface area of tape capturing the music is orders of magnitude higher, which is why so many of SG’s Tandberg masters from the likes of David Bowie, Elton John, Led Zeppelin and Bruce Springsteen are considered by some as audience-recording classics. The Tandberg required 10(!) D-cel batteries to operate, is roughly the size of a compact typewriter and weighs more than ten pounds. Imagine sneaking that into a show and your respect for what SG accomplished only grows.

This is the second in a series of Tandberg master reels digitized for the first time. Happily, the original Tandberg deck is still fully functioning, so these transfers offer full-track mono playback on the original tape recorder to maximize quality.

We follow up Boston (http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=581370), as you would (!), with Lou Reed, on the penultimate night of the Rock and Roll Heart Tour. It’s a jazzy, rollicking and occasionally ramshackle two hours of pure Lou and a set list consistent with the rest of the tour. There are requests throughout the show for “Heroin,” and Lou obliges to close the show.

SG’s preferred taping spot at the Paramount was always row JJ, the last row, in the corner where his microphone could be easily hung on a giant velvet curtain that took up the end of the row. While at the back of the main floor, that position was well removed from other audience and resulted in yet another excellent and balanced tape with almost no unwanted crowd interference. Samples provided. If the file size seems small, remember it is a mono file, half the size of stereo version of the same thing.

Our hat goes off again to SG for his remarkable work in the ‘70s, ‘80s and beyond for capturing these shows in the first place, and to Jared, may his legacy live on as he rests in peace. Thanks as well to mjk5510, for his steadfast support of JEMS’ efforts and indispensable post production work.
