This is the rough mix. We are pretty sure that we could have made it sound better. But we believe this one is good enough to upload it here. Please enjoy the show. We recorded 10 IEM sources of the entire show and matrixed 7 to 9 sources here and there.

Adam Lambert is a great singer but kept on bitching about his IEM-monitor sounds all through the show. We tried to eliminate all of the conversations he held with crews but looks like we missed some…. Sorry we will try harder the next time.

This was the first show of the 1979 tour, and the first gig with new band member Albert Lee. This is a soundboard recording, not to be confused with the high generation audience recording in circulation. EC gets a bit lost in the first verse of Crossroads, but finishes off with some great solos. The band is plagued by some sort of PA/Equipment problems during "Key to the Highway". The show features a nice hot performance of "Carnival", with some nice swirly Hammond B3.

this is the earliest Huey Lewis recording I've heard. etree notes that this show was on the King Biscuit radio show but not all of it was broadcasted there this may be the full show from Reseda, it comes from a fellow who recorded sbds there for awhile in the early 80's the date information is taken from etree, so it should be right, but they're sometimes wrong. a few of those have been posted recently, and still a couple more are likely to be soon. I think this might be a radio broadcast since it has some between track edits. if so, probably a local one, not the edited national one on KBFH show. not sure of track 12 title, the rest should be right the last 4 songs are "filler" from another show, and included on the source cassette, so I left them in here.

Setlist is a bit on the mellow side, but reported to be one of the best shows of 2017 by many. Rainy for much of the afternoon, but the rain broke for a majority of the show. Beautiful venue for a show, reminded me of the great shows at the Greek in 2006. 

Recording Notes: 
Matrix of my wireless sources and an excellent AUD from front row of the "seated" section. Daspy's audience source was a more direct sounding aud, but this aud mixed better for my purposes. Did a fair amount of clean-up for nearby crowd noise. I tend to like more of a cleaner soundboard sound, so if you like audience heavy mix then check out Daspyknow's excellent audience recording. Mix has a fair amount of my bag of tricks running, but some elements of the mix are difficult to control. All and all, it's a pretty solid and balanced mix.

About the interview:
After many years of doing a popular blues show on community station KGNU, I approached a number of commercial stations about doing Blues From the Red Rooster Lounge for them. The responses I got were a real education in radio reality. Numerous PD's told me they loved the blues but it would be suicide to air it on their station. Finally I approached KBCO, which at the time was the #2 station in the Denver/Boulder market. Amazingly, they went for it when all the much lower-rated stations passed. In early May of 1985 the one-hour show began airing at midnight on Sunday. (Over 27 years later, it still runs on Sunday night, now at 9 pm. It's also syndicated on four other stations in scattered markets around the U.S.)
