Total time = 77:27

Notes:
This seems like a very decent recording sourced from a radio broadcast. There may be a few of the usual glitches associated with recordings of this time. Any Fairport Convention show from this period with this line up (particularly with Richard Thompson) is worth it. I received my copy in trade. The show was uploaded in 2005 by dnick926:
There are some interesting comments included, and I agree with them, particularly about the pillowcase remark. I think my copy has different tracking than that uploaded here earlier.

04 - Six Days On The Road (03:24)
05 - 2nd encore applause  (00:29) *
06 - Unidentified Instrumental (04:11)

Flaws:
There are four uninterupted sequences on Jerry's reel. The * after timings indicates that track as being the end of one of those sequences. Intermittent equipment buzzing on stage.  It primarily effects the quiet parts between songs during the first half of the set. The opening number, "Matty Groves," begins shortly in progress just before Sandy sings the first verse.  "It'll Take A Long Time" and "John The Gun" are incomplete.  "Hexamshire Lass" is introduced by Swarbrick during track 13, but was apparently not recorded.

Notes:
Although not without issues, this is superior quality to all circulating copies of this recording and is more complete than most.  Unlike many versions making the rounds, "Like An Old Fashioned Waltz" is complete and the second encore is included. The second encore is an instrumental, but is not one of the standard Swarbrick fiddle medleys common to this era.  If anyone can better identify that last track, please do.

11 - Get on Up/You Gotta Feel It (?)
12 - Sir B. McKenzie
13 - Country Pie

This is a fine recording of a short-lived and unrecorded Fairport line-up that toured the US around the time of the Babacombe Lee album. Line-up was only intact from 3/72-6/72 according to Fairport family tree from Fairport Unconventional Box on Free Reed (" Originally a London band, now Brummies"). I saw them at Avery Fisher Hall in NYC within days of this Ultrasonic performance. Simon and DM had left the band and Roger Hill and Tom Farnell were temporarily in. Some material here from Babacombe and a bit from Rosie.

Sound is messed at 6:10 into Sloth. Added a little EQ at that point to make it sound better. Remains that way through the rest of the track. Sound gets much better again at the end of Sloth to start Dirty Linen to the end of the show.

This recording I got many centuries ago in the distant years 2000, when we make trades through the traditional mail, period of connections - at least here in Brazil - by dial up, with speeds that did not exceed 5 kB/s. This is one of my most favorite recordings, not only from the Fairport Convention but from all of my extensive collection. Phase of CDs Old New Borrowed Blue and Acoustically Down Under. The sound quality is fantastic, as you can to perceive from the samples. Hope you like.

Anyone liking this incarnation of FC should seek out Swarb's recent live releases from this band on his Shirty3 label. It's a 2 disc set called 4 Play 76/79.

Total Time ::: 1:15:49

::: Quite fine AUD after all the work. Check samples for ear flight or fancy.
::: Warts: Taper shut off deck between songs. Bit of clapping in #7. After a minute into it, #15 had way too many dropouts to repair (tape damage). #16 starts a few notes late.
::: Marc Ellington (and band) opened. Very possible other acts played as well.
::: Very possible some of the above-mentioned guests are playing on other songs as well.
::: DIMER fameuz weighed in with this info: "The Peter Bellamy song is "King Henry VII and the Shipwrights". Recorded by him for his album "Oak, Ash & Thorn". The words are by Rudyard Kipling, the tune is traditional comes from the song "The Gallant Frigate Amphitrite". As such it was also recorded by Peter Bellamy on "Both Sides Then", acc. by Dave Swarbrick.

Recording Information ::: unknown mono recording equipment -> master audience tape -> ? (1 or 2) -> unknown generation Maxell XLII-100 cassette, Dolby off.

Playback 2011-08-05 ::: unknown generation Maxell XLII-100 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby off, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL professional CD recorder -> CD-RW, no track splits -> computer -> EAC secure mode (logs made) -> wav file(s) -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, -1.3 pitch (speed) fix with single pass (very rough average as speed varies slightly thru tape) after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2015-08-22.

Remastering notes: The phase was screwed up, so I inverted 1 channel to correct it. The channels levels had hundreds of huge volume variations between them. No idea why, since the recording seems to be mono, but now everything is pretty much fixed after hours of work just on that issue. There were an unbelievable number of dropouts & dullspots - fixed what I could. And... a labor of love - I did this one twice, a complete second run thru.
