This is a BBC tv show called I swear that I was there. This episode featured the Sex Pistols Manchester concert from 6-4-1976. Lots of interviews from people that were there and some rare footage.

On June 4, 1976, four young men took the stage of the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester and, in front of a handful of people, played one of the most important live sets of all time. Alongside Woodstock and Live Aid, the Sex Pistols' performance has been named by critics as one of the most pivotal performances in music history... not necessarily because of the quality of the music - but because of the effect the music had on the audience. The crowd were mesmerized by the power and possibilities of punk - and it inspired them to create their own music that would shape the sound of rock music for decades to come. Members of Joy Division and New Order, the Smiths, the Fall and Buzzcocks were there that night as well as Tony Wilson, a key player in the story of Factory records, the Hacienda, Madchester and beyond. This was truly a gig that changed the world. The truth behind that gig - plus the Pistols' repeat performance six weeks later and their first ever TV appearance - has been shrouded in mystery for thirty years. Brilliant sound recording...Johnny's rants are hilarious. A true testament of a band that had their shit together even though the world around them thought they were just loud-mouthed yobs. TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
Here we have what appears to be an incomplete soundboard recording of a classic Sex Pistols performance. The sound quality is average for a soundboard and certainly isn't the cleanest sounding source. Nevertheless, for Pistols fans, this is a must! Besides, The Sex Pistols weren't exactly a "clean" sounding band anyways. As far as the remastering goes, the source recording needed a good few adjustments. To start with, the recording was originally at a very low volume. The sound waivers from track to track but each track needed an average increase in amplitude of about 10dB. This, in itself, accounts for a pretty large difference to the listening experience. However, boosting the level of the recording only scratches the surface of the edits done. Some of the tracks, mostly near the beginning of the recording, had a lot of pops and clicks and other noises/anomalies. I have carefully used a click/pop eliminator to remove most of these sounds. The music itself, does not suffer from this effect. It's not like noise or hiss reduction where the music usually suffers significant signal/frequency loss. Each track has been equalized and balanced very carefully and at times fairly drastically. As the source recording must've originally came from a high generation or very damaged tape, a lot of frequency loss has occurred. I have attempted to counteract this effect as much as possible. You will notice changes in sound quality and level from track to track at times. I've tried to match the tracks as closely as possible, but at times the difference in sound quality/frequency response is easily noticed and could not be avoided. Overall, I think the recording is significantly improved and more fun to listen to. I hope someone gets something out of this great early performanceby The Sex Pistols and my attempt to make it sound better. Enjoy!

This is a really well recorded, well balanced tape. Taken from the soundboard, it's a very enjoyable lively show with the band firing on all engines. The mix is superb, although the bass is a little hard to distinguish - otherwise, there's no problems with this at all.

OK here's a great compilation of punk bands appearing live on American late night talk shows. This is the first of many i have planned, now in this collection there are some amazing tracks The Sponge track is incredible but its the only good song they ever did, the same goes for Eve 6, Plus 44 & the Foo Fighters. The Sum 41 & Iggy Pop performance is brilliant and the Good Charlotte track is tremendous, who knew they could come up with something like that. The Chumbawamba track is amazing to due to how they change it and sing "Free Mumia Abu Jamal" this got them in a lot of trouble and i'm still amazed the Letterman show broadcast it! Most of these are direct from my SVHS master tapes but occasionally there will be one encoded from another source, also the dates could be different due to using the air date when they were shown in the UK if i can't find the real date. Another great addition to everyones ever growing Punk Rock DVD library...

OK here's a great compilation of punk bands appearing live on American late night talk shows. This is volume four and features clips from various sources, the quality is more or less great throughout and i also fixed the audio so all clips have the same volume level. I tried my best with the dates but some could be wrong due to using the UK air date... Another excellent addition to everyones ever growing Punk Rock DVD library...

In 2011, U.K. TV channel BBC4 started rolling back time by 35 years and started

re-broadcasting the UK TV weekly music show “Top Of The Pops”. These shows were

re-broadcast in it’s full entirety with the presenters introducing the acts of the time. BBC4 (a digital channel) started repeating shows starting in 1976.

(Some bloody dreadful acts, so thank you PUNK music)

Unfortunately by the summer of the 1977 broadcasts (and, after the court allegation’s with under age sex with girls by the TOTP presenters Jimmy Saville and also another presenter Dave Lee Travis only a few months later) BBC4 did not re-broadcast those episodes with those presenters.
