EX Audience recording ... just fantastic sound (considering the rig, of course) .. really rich and nice bass bottom...
Another dusty mini-disc transfer to digital, and this one is just really a real beaut friends... samples included. Everyone was feelin' it on this night.. Jackson Browne opened
with a great set, as always, and I will get around to getting that up here as soon as I can... nice recording as well. Really, really sweet performance by Tom and boys in a nice
sounding theatre (since torn down) ... in support of that most-excellent The Last DJ release... ah, such good memories..
This recording easily represents one of my best overall concert experiences, and way, way up there as one of my favorite captures in my concert recording *career*.
I do not recall if I have shared this before... too much clutter in me mind... but if you don't recognize this torrent, you should really enjoy this recording... on a nice long
car ride with the top down on a hot summer day.
I labelled this one "The Kid Goes Bad" because that actually happens, while Tom and the boys were PLAYING the actual song.. sounds crazy I know, but you'll just have to trust me.
Hint : I was out from Atlanta, flying solo, and I suppose had one or two too many cocktails at the pre-show Blackjack tables, and as a result, I had to run to the W/C during the song.
And thankfully no, I'm not the kid that went bad and no, it's not as horrific as it may sound, just an extraordinarily funny and well-timed concert moment.. I dunno, perhaps you
just had to be there...

notes
Here's the first night of a five night stand with Tom Petty at the Beacon Theater. I used putty and attached the mics to a ledge above an exit/entrance passage. I started with a 30" mic split, but by track 8 people were touching the wires and I was in their space, so I had no choice but to move the mics and finished the show off with an 8" split. Through it all, the recording came out with only some close claps (more noticeable during the first 8 tracks), but no crowd singers or talkers! Not my best rail recording, but overall very enjoyable. I found some pics online and included them. Good news is I'm back on Sunday for the last show and have a closer railing all to myself. Enjoy! Mr. Railing

I recorded this years ago but managed to obtain a remastered version in a trade from someone in Europe who had somehow fixed up my master to sound a shitload better. As a result I am uploading this version - not my mediocre original. This sounds way better! Not sure about the accuracy of the setlist as it was done in the remastering process.
As with any Virgil gig - it was technically flawless and jaw-dropping.

Some volume fluctuations in "Dazzle" - I suppose the taper needed to adjust volume as soon as the song explodes. Otherwise great sound. Great performance - highlights are "We Hunger" (flawless deep voice), "Desert Kisses", "Into The Light", "Red Light", "Christine", "Monitor" - don't think I've ever heard better versions of these songs. The live version of "Desert Kisses" sounds like the demo version included on the Kaleidoscope remaster (though played live obviously) and "Into The Light", stripped of its backing vocal, sounds like the Peel Sessions version.

This was another great Joe show. Joe was sick but did not let that hamper him in any way.
I was in the second row in the center. The sound was very good. Only issue was a drunkin' idiot behind me who felt he needed the world to know he existed by speaking during the show. He did this because I was audio recording and my wife does video. Luckily the microphone is amazing and the disturbance of this fool is limited.

One more of the Euro/UK shows on what would be the last Van Halen tour with Roth until 2007. A pretty short set, probably the shortest since 1978, although there may be a few minutes missing from this recording. Love Roth's line "I can hear that old Swiss ryhthm now baby!" at the beginning of "Hot for Teacher." A nice recording overall, the UK/Euro tapers made some of the better recordings of the 1984 tour.

Comment:
Mix of both released audience recordings of the first show of the tour. Both recordings are already excellent. All thanks and credits go to the tapers!!! The first recording was
recorded at a very high level, there's some brickwalling. I reduced
volume and I did a little equalizing. Then I mixed it together with the
second source. The result has some more dynamic range and sounds fairly
better to me.

chick Corea and Stanley Clerke did a three night stint at Catalina's to repeated sell out crowds. As an added attraction, Hubert Laws sat in on the third night. Herbie Hancock was in the crowd, and it was his birthday, so the band sang "Happy Birthday" to him, and he reciprocated by sitting in on the encore. What was amusing to me is that Hubert Laws whipped out his cell phone and began filming Herbie's encore, along with 25 other people in the crowd.

part one: minimax master series #015
part two: first copy of another master
part one: Master - Audience recording from my old TDK-Sa C-90 Tape
part two: copy of master-tape from Maxell XL II C-90
Artwork is included !!
The first half of the concert I taped with an AIWA walkman and an extra microphone
(I can't remember what microphone it was).
I recorded it from the middle of the audience-mob about 20 meters from the stage.
The sound quality is very good +, it is a nice and typical audience recording.
The second part nearly sounds the same, so it might also be recorded from the ground
floor, but I have no idea....
For part one: Here's my master from that Bowie-show way back in 1983.
I only have a master from the first part. My cassette-recorder did not record the second part.
And I still can really understand him!!!
This was a big shit. Bowie at his worst and a really boring performance.
If I would have been my walkman I also would not have recorded the second part.
I think I would have stopped much earlier!!
..and now, as I grabbed out the second part of it and I remembered who once taped it and
send it over I thought I reseed this one again -for a last time. And this time the
complete version.
This was and still is my only time I saw Bowie in my life. I completely forgot
him afterwards, but I know that he did much better shows in the early years of this
millenium and he is much better now. O.k., he cannot be worse.
..ah, and he just returned with an exhibition at London and a vinyl-recording or so...
Anyway, here's what I do have from that evening now.
..and all you Bowie-fans out there will like it.

This is an average audience recording of a very dynamic Iggy Pop show from the Lust for Life tour in 1977. It is nowhere as nice a quality as the March 1977 NYC show that was kindly put up a wee while ago but shows Ig, band, and audience having a real blast in Stockholm with the new songs! IMHO this was one of Iggys best backing bands. If anyone has an upgrade on this show it would be great if you could put it up.

tech notes:
-tiny digi-glitch at 3:27 during What Mama Says
-a few digi-pops or mic bumps at very start of Where Were You
-Whoever mastered this originally added a couple of between song fades or shortened applause between songs (nearly transparent). No music lost that I can tell. Probably trimmed some applause to squeeze this down to (at the time) the 74 minute max for a CD. Just guessing. No detraction at all to the continuity of the show in my opinion.
notes:
Sending Sweets and Orbit are leftovers from some never released sessions (Steakhouse) and only appeared on this tour to my knowledge.
Diamond Dust was apparently only played a few times (if that) during this tour. It is the first night of the tour here, and you can tell Jeff can't quite find where to come in as the song begins, but once he gets on board, the usual magic ensues. Jennifer does a great job of playing the Rhodes background on guitar. Enjoy this rather amazing version, you won't hear anything like it again most likely!

One of the best performances from the 1974 tour. This was reeled in from
SW's original cassettes in 1975 and was never torrented before. Dylan
parts only. EQ added.
There is another tape made from a better seat but it has a lot of
distortion and is hard to listen to. This is much cleaner and much more
enjoyable to my ears. The other tape was partly torrented in 2005 as a
compilation which included a higher gen copy of this recording, and
maybe a 3rd tape also.

Taped from the 4th row almost dead center, with security but feet away I wasn't able to get the height on the mic I normally liked to get but all in all a good solid capture.

Pretty good show. Contains an infamous Spinal Tap moment during the drum solo where Tommy Lee yells out "Hey Buffalo, you want it faster?" twice, then says "Hey Boston...I mean BUFFALO, do you want it faster?". Gotta love it.

There were some mic problems due to one mic cable having a loose connection/contact. The right channel has been overlapped with the left and both channels have been boosted up. There are some obivious mic malfunctions, especially during "Give It Away". Although there are some screaming bitches around, this recording sounds pretty good now.

Sitting facing centre stage about 2/3rds of way to back. Excellent
location and excellent view of stage. There was a frequent need to stand
up to allow people with weak bladders to pass, hopefully didn't cause
too many bumps on the mic.

A tight, professional, but not very special show. The core is the

and the pretty new track Love is you love is me is not bad either. Some
nice improvisations in that track.
Since the show was at a (Blues) Festival, the length isn't that long.

About 3 feet left of dead center... in the very last row way in the back. Under those circumstances the sound wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's also just a little thin, or maybe that's just Entwistle's absense. Or my crummy speakers and deteriorating hearing. Otherwise sounds good.
Not my original seat, which was rear corner, but that section appeared to be half sold and me and some friends gathered from different spots in the upper fringes to enjoy the extra leg room and watch the production elements of the show dead on. Probably the best place to be up there.
There are some sound artifacts, probably because I was eating a Tiger Milk bar. Foil wrappers don't set off the metal detectors either.
