I was provided two 16mm film reels of the Beatles' Washington D.C. Coliseum Concert. As we know, at that time, the film print copies of the concert were made. I've got one of them. And then, I tried to transfer it into Digital Tele-Cine. So a result is this. For the picture quality, the Digital Tele-Cine technology seemd to work well. I like this version of transfer. And I have to say thank you Mr.Wogew. He made a splendid artwork for this. Thank you Mr.Al. He provided a film reel for me. Also, Thank you Mr.Murray, Mr.Shiro, and Nami.

13 - For You Blue (with two false starts)
14 - Get Back
15 - The Walk

This is an upgraded source of Glyn Johns' early mix acetate which contains the session performed in January 1969. I, ThePetSounds Production, remastered an extremely rare audio source directly ripped from the Elektra Records acetate disc named "UNTOUCHED". I used the raw source on the disc 1 of a bootleg CD named "UNTOUCHED - OFF ELEKTRA ACETATE" released by IMP in Japan.

Disc 1 contains 15 tracks which were de-clicked, phase-corrected, and speed-corrected. Disc 2 has the same tracks de-noised, and the three lacking parts in them have been patched up with other sources: The beginning of track 1 "Get Back" was patched with a source from "Celluloid Rock" released by Yellow Dog, and the end of track 9 "I've Got A Feeling" and the beginning of track 10 "The Long And Winding Road" were done with a source from "Posters, Incense And Strobe Candles" released by Vigotone.

Notes:
This is a near complete capture of the broadcast. It includes the 4 individual Beatle biographies and the interviews with the production crew, which were not uploaded previously. I removed the
Ed Sullivan Show clips and the clip from the rooftop concert in "Let It Be" but that's all that's missing from the original broadcast. As noted by several DIME users, there are several digital glitches/dropouts in this capture. They are brief, about 1 second, about 4-5 total. Overall, they are insignificant and certainly will not ruin your viewing of this interesting DVD.

Added Notes (from Hob)
There have been some slight extra changes made to this version, mainly the fixing of dodgy synch from the original film. A couple of bits come to mind, such as Mal Evan's anvil banging in Maxwell's Silver Hammer and parts of John's vocal on Dig It, but there were also out-of-synch moments in a lot of other songs. It should be pointed out that many (or even most) of the cutaways and closeups come from different takes or, worse still, completely different songs. So you can't really expect these sorts of shots will ever look right. In such cases I just left them as they are.

I also fixed the ending of Two Of Us which previously switched to mono. I'd overlooked the fact that the stereo ending can be found on one of the Naked promo videos.

The resynched audio is based partly upon work I originally did for Unsurpassed Promos disc 4. I was then pointed in the direction of a cd compiled by HenryTheHorse which uses the Nagras to reconstruct the movie soundtrack. This saved me all the trouble of identifying and locating all the scores of different fragments used in the first half of the film which, in all honesty, I would not have had the knowledge to do. Unfortunately his cd was not synched to the film images, so that meant a hellish night spent aligning it to the optical soundtrack. A couple of bits (= One After 909 and I Me Mine) sounded better on the optical soundtrack to me so I didn't use those. In doing so I innadvertantly cut out a four letter word from George at the start of I Me Mine... here expletive in question has been restored to its rightful place in the proceedings...

OK, Beatle Peetle, this is it! The Decca Tapes...at the honest-to-(insert your favorite deity here) right speed, at last, no foolin'.

Despite what they all said about their Decca Tapes being speed-corrected, they were all wrong. These tracks have always been at the wrong pitch on every single issue - Deccagone, Circuit, Yellow Dog (twice), Vigotone, Masterdisc... but this issue is guaranteed to have these recordings running at A=440 on every track. Each has been played against the grand piano preset on a Korg M50 workstation, and adjusted to match in Adobe Audition 3. Even if the group were not precisely tuned to concert pitch when they played it, they are now. You can play your instrument with all the songs without having to retune or being even a hair sharp or flat.

The source used here is the Masterdisc CD. It sounded the best out of all the other issues, and had no noise reduction, except that it ran a semitone sharp, with some variations. There was a small imbalance in level between channels - that's fixed. Not a fraction of a second of audio is added or taken away.

Two fixes have been performed. The first note of "Hello Little Girl" ramped down in speed from a higher pitch. That has been straightened out. And the folks at Masterdisc had combined the channels of their tape to mono. This was fine because their playback was in phase to begin with. But on "Searchin'" there were two spots right next to each other where the phase was out for a very short time, as it had the telltale swishing of phase cancellations. Those have been patched with audio from the Vigotone CD "March 5, 1963 plus The Decca Tape."

That iteration was horribly out of phase due to azimuth misalignment during digital transfer; it was at the wrong speed (which was fixed), and it has a ton of noise reduction applied, which dulled the high end and rolled off the bass. Even after phase correction, it was still brighter in the left and duller in the right, evidence of multiple-generation dubbing on different tape machines. So the two fragments needed for the patches are taken from the left channel, and re-equalized to match the Masterdisc sound as closely as possible. It worked out so well that you'll never hear it when the patches go by (the patches are less than a second in total).

These are replacements for Purple Chick "AB Road" tracks from 3 January 1969, synchronizing any overlaps between the A-roll and B-roll segments into stereo segments. Though this has been done before, on Yellow Dog YD079 ("A-Cam+B-Cam Stereo at Twickenham", http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=YD079), that CD covered only the first half of the day, and left the resulting stereo clips completely out of context.

These tracks place the stereo sections where they belong, so simply replace the corresponding Purple Chick files to upgrade discs 3 to 6 to "Stereo (Where Available)".

An explanation, courtesy of "Paul from Alaska" (http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=YD079§ion=1):
"Long story short, On just this one day, Jan 3 1969, the A-camera and B-camera were using "separate audio feeds", meaning that when the 2 cameras were running simultaneously, they each picked up different aspects of the sound in the room. ...The cameras began using the same audio feed the following day, and throughout the rest of the sessions at Twickenham."

These tracks combine the original A-roll sources (from "AB Road" and/or the Yellow Dog "Day-By-Day" discs) with B-roll tracks from Unicorn's "12 Days At Twickenham", keeping "A" on the left channel and "B" on the right. Speed was synchronized to the A-roll, as the B-rolls run a bit slower. (No guarantees the A-roll speed is correct, just that I didn't change it. Anyone more tonally gifted than I is more than welcome to take a stab at pitch correction.  ) (Also inexplicably, many of the Purple Chick tracks from this day feature inverted waveforms. When I caught one, I flipped it back.) The completed stereo segments were then dropped back into the appropriate "AB Road" tracks. 72 tracks from 3 January 1969 were captured partially -- in some cases entirely -- by both the A and B Nagras.

For good measure, I also threw in two "corrected" tracks -- Purple Chick's 3.107 had somehow lost the last 12-1/2 seconds of conversation, while from January 8th, Disc 4 (and the recording day) ended with separate A and B-roll versions (D4-26 & D4-27) of the same lengthy "cruise ship" discussion, now edited down to a single non-redundant track.

Caveats:
"Stereo" does not imply that the entire track is now in stereo, as the A/B overlaps were sometimes quite brief.
The impressiveness of the stereo effect varies from track to track. Voices and instruments also tend to wander a bit as recording personnel move around the soundstage.
