West, Bruce & Laing officially formed in February 1972, straight after Mountain's last tour of the UK. However, even before that tour, there had already been rumours of that band's forthcoming split and obvious thoughts that Jack Bruce might be a fitting replacement for Felix Pappalardi in a succeeding format. These rumours - of course - made it to the music papers and as it happens, Felix did read a respective Melody Maker article titled "Jack Bruce to join Mountain?" on his flight to the UK for their tour - and is said to have gone through the (plane's?) ceiling as he obviously had not been involved in Lez' and Corky's musings and plans.
Actually, both had already jammed along with Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke, Overend Watts and Boz Burrell in November 1971 at London's Basing Street Studios during Mountain's stint in the UK for a two-night show at The Rainbow. At that point, the two had already been looking for a singer and bass player and were hoping to win over at least Rodgers who's band Free had split in May 1971 and who at that point was trying to get his own outfit Peace off the ground. Nothing has come of Lez's & Cork's intention though, probably as by February 1972, when the two were finally free for a new project, Free had just reformed (in hopes to save their guitarist Koss' fragile life).
West, Bruce & Laing's advance reputation was obviously so strong that they were able to tour the US through major venues without having an album out to promote, something that usually is de rigeur for such a financial venture. They actually were even still without a record contract at that point!
This show here was recorded very early into the band's very first tour and only six days before their April 24 show at the Carnegie Hall of which bits and pieces were released on "Alive & Kicking". However, if one feels inclined to compare the two versions of the band's "crown jewel" (IMHO) "Play With Fire", it is blantantly obvious how the official version starts of nicely but then suddenly seems to somehow lose energy and just somehow drags on (IMHO), while this here runs some 21+ minutes and displays the band literally PLAYING WITH FIRE from start to finish!

Iron Maiden - Stockholm, Sweden November 18th, 2006 FM - DJ FREE +Definitive Edition+
On a cold November evening in Stockholm, the almighty Iron Maiden rocked the Globen to its core!
FM broadcaster P3, beamed this monumental concert around Sweden for millions of viking Maiden fans to enjoy!
In a bold move, Eddie and the boys delivered a spellbinding performance which showcased the brilliant A Matter Of Life And Death album in its entirety. While a few fans were unhappy with the setlist of the 2006 A Matter Of Life And Death tour, I believe Iron Maiden courageously bucked the system by performing their new Long Player as a complete body of work.
Behold, the ultimate *LIVE* document of Maiden's triumphant 2006 fall tour!
All annoying DJ banter between tracks was tastefully removed by Limulus!
Absolutely *NO* music was lost during this process.
This recording flows smoothly, due to clever crossfading.
However, there are abrupt conclusions at the end of several tracks.
It should also be noted that several of Nicko's 'count in' passages as well as ten non-musical seconds in the middle of set closer, Iron Maiden were removed as well. This is due to the elimination of intrusive DJ commentary.
Please toss all previously circulating versions of the Maiden Stockholm November 2006 FM broadcast in the trash. This includes the 'edited' P3 FM recording issued by Chris The Metallist.
That particular version has countless FLAC compression errors and should not be in circulation!
A colossal thank you to Limulus for proving us with the definitive version of the Stockholm November 18th, 2006 FM Broadcast! Your work is appreciated more than words can say!
Original uncut FM source torrented on DIME by Stefan_M/Whoracle on December 29th, 2006
THANK YOU, Stefan_M for supplying the original FM source! Without you, this release would not have been possible. Stefan_M, your efforts have not gone unrecognized!

Recorded at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City in June of 1971,this is John just jamming on his acoustic guitar. Most of the tracks that John grew up with in the 1950's appear on this CD including many of John's favorite songs by Buddy Holly. The track list above is according to the songs that are listed on the album cover, however a few more tracks are interspread in the album which don't appear on the album track list, especially at the end of the CD.My CD tracks at 14 actual songs.Included in this track list would be a short Duane Eddy take at the begining of the disc. There is a take of Buddy Holly's Heartbeat,Also at the end, after Peggy Sue,John sings Maybe Baby (an excellent acoustic version),Mailman bring me no more blues (although Yoko is heard on the phone over this track),Rave On (another excellent Buddy Holly cover version, and the CD ends with a little instrument number with John saying,"when I count to three we just get up and run out".At that point the CD ends. The so!ng New York City is listed in the track listing, but I've listened to this cd a number of times and I don't hear New York City on track 5,it just sounds like a bit of guitar tuning before he goes into Wake up Little Susie to me.The sound on this CD is excellent and there are a few songs presented here that are the only known versions ever recoreded by John. This Cd can in my opinion be viewed as John's Rock n' Roll album circa 1971.It is obvious that when out of the spotlight he always reverted back to the Rock n' Roll songs of his youth.I enjoy this CD very much, and rate it a 9 because the sound is excellent and the selection of songs is also excellent. This is a very enjoyable John Lennon CD,and I would recommend it to anyone interested in hearing John doing acoustic versions of the roots of Rock n' Roll.
Review by: TraceElement On 10 Jun 2002 at 12:05 CET
Not the most significant insight into JOHN's work, or filled with unrecorded demos, etc. BUT, the great thing about this recording, is first of all, it is very clean. The overall feel, is that you and John are hanging out together in his living room. It's evening, and you and John just shared a spliff, altho Yoko took a couple of hits. John pulls out his guitar, and starts to fool around, playing different songs, just for you and him. Yoko is by, and for the most part, is just quite. The phone rings, and the casual vibe is just reinforced by this, not interrupted. This is a very intimate slice of life recording. A "LET IT BE" for a solo John, without the fights.Fun to listen to, and you are NOT going to hear these songs on a million other bootlegs. If you feel like stopping by to visit JOHN, and listen to him share with you his love of old rock and roll, on acoustic guitar, go for it. All i am saying, is give "CLOCK" a chance.
Review by: shoegazer On 20 Jun 2003 at 20:48 CET
"Clock" is allegedly the soundtrack of a film which John and Yoko shot during a stay at the St. Regis Hotel in '71. They hadn't yet moved into the West Village. I seem to remember reading that, visually, the film consists mainly of a clock, like a Warhol film, with John and Yoko off screen. It would be nice to think there was a Pennebaker-style film out there of this stuff with shots of John playing guitar, while Yoko answers the phone. There's at least two instances on the cd where John answers the phone in a put-on voice. "Que pasa?? Whosis please, que pasa?" Some black and white footage surfaced back in '99, sold to a couple of collectors by Tony Cox, with John sporting a shaved head. Stills lifted from that footage show John in bed, playing a guitar, and Yoko beside him, perhaps on the phone. Maybe this is "Clock", however, the shaved head leads one to believe the footage may date back to 1970, around the time of "Instant Karma". Anyway, "Clock" is a great cd. I keep collecting Lennon boots hoping they'll all be like this one. Excellent sound quality, stripped down, a guy and a guitar, Lennon unplugged, spontaneous, personal, full takes of songs, with John remembering all the words. Like being in the room with the guy.

In the book BOOTLEG by Clinton Heylin, the bootlegger behind this box is identified as "Richard", and "Next to the Beatles, his great love was the cantankerous Frank Zappa". "Richard in his time was to be responsible for one ten-album set, one four-album set and ten single albums [of Zappa], including the legendary 'Tis the Season to be Jelly". (The ten-album set, of course, is this Mystery Box, but the other albums are never identified.) He is quoted (on page 195) as saying:

Mercyful Fate - Shadow Nights (SBD/FLAC)
(Soundboard FLAC)
Mercyful Fate
Shadow Nights
This is ripped from a silver pressing to Flac 8.
This is a very well known boot and a very good one.
Has a couple rare tracks too. Sound quality ranges from poor to pretty damn good.
01 - Commerical
02 - Curse Of The Pharaohs
03 - Devil Eyes
04 - Into The Coven
05 - Into The Coven
06 - Nightmare (art has it listed as Into The Coven)
07 - Satan's Fall
08 - Nun's Have No Fun
09 - Return Of The Vampire
10 - Satan's Fall
11 - Shadow Nights
12 - The Witch
More info is in side the folded insert:
These songs were taken from very early live performances, and the sound quality is not good enough for an official release. You should not own this unless you are an extreme fan of the primitive and unpolished days of the band. Realistically, this material can only be appreciated by the tape traders who already own most of these songs. Long live the King!!!
