Recording Notes:
Jackson Browne was trying to break in a drummer for these shows and utilized him for a few shows. So I captured both of their feeds and mixed them together. Overall it sounds pretty solid, but sometimes Browne's chatter between songs gets a bit of the quiet side. Particularly during the soundcheck when he starts lecturing the drummer off-mic (which happens a lot).
Show Notes:
Seemed to be a solid show. For folks really into Browne (not me) it's a nice little gem. Solid 140 minute show plus a 110 minute rehearsal. Browne spent a lot of the rehearsal trying to teach the drummer songs, and certainly puts on his diva hat when lecturing. He did the same thing the night before in Turlock with a two hour rehearsal focused on tearing the drummer a new one. So again--a nice little gem for the die-hard Browne fans.
Final words:
IEM recordings are not for everyone. If not they're not your thing, either sonically or ethically, there's still the existing excellent audience recording out there. Similarly, I'm mixing primarily for my ears. This is what sounds best to me. This may not sound the best to you. That's a fair statement. I'm open to honest criticism (although you should have caught me when I was working on the mix!), but pointless complaining is unappreciated (naturally). Let's play nice.
