Great opening set from the No. Cal rockers. The band was on fire during this period as they were new comers.

This comes courtesy of my long time friend and taping/trading buddy Damien. Early on when I started this master taper series I was trying to track him down and with the help of fellow taper and friend Mark B. I was able to finally get back in touch with him so an extra special shout out to Mark for that. Damien has so many great shows and it will be a real treat to share those here with everyone to enjoy. His taping started in 1984 and ran heavy until the late 90's early 2000's so as you can imagine there's an awful lot. Most of his shows are some of the best quality boots to come out of Europe during that time. Thanks to him and his approval to post his shows everyone will hear some great shows. Let's Rock!!

Comments:

This 1993 Cesme Festival showcases a brand new live song for DD, which is 'Love Voodoo'. Simon mentions that this is the very first time DD had ever played the song live in front of an audience. This sounds like some sort of television broadcast, or possibly radio broadcast, but I'm not exactly sure which one it is. I should also mention that this recording was in pretty bad shape before I cleaned it up. There were several edits, and many, many, split-second dropouts. I've dione everything with it that I can. It's not perfect, but it's much better than it was. The remaining anomolies are extremely minor...

Notes by the taper:
Got this from the original seller on eBay a few years ago. The quality is fair. Not sure why it looks so bad, as the seller claimed he was the one who originally taped it off-air, and the mailer I receied was posted from Turkey, so... Turkey currently employs PAL broadcasting, but since this video is NTSC, there has been a conversion *somewhere* in the video chain. Might explain why this video looks so poor. Some of the audio sounds like it may have been dubbed in from an alternate source. This is the best version of this concert to my knowledge. Love Voodoo is performed here live for the first time - according to Simon.

About About this recording
Back when I introduced my Weather Report, 1982-06-01 recording, I said that it was probably the best Weather Report recording and concert you had never heard. I will say the same about this one. This could be the best Zawinul Syndicate recording you've never heard, and after hearing it...might still be the best. This is a recording and a show where every star in the universe aligned to make an almost flawless recording of a memorable event. But it almost never happened...

The Zawinul Syndicate was playing Yoshi's Oakland for about five straight days. On the very first night, sometime around August 25th, a guitar player friend and I went to the concert (he's Pete Escoveto's guitar player). We arrived at the show a few hours early to eat dinner and get good seats (general seating). We met the guitarist, Gary Poulson and talked to him for a while. Gary was having a tough time with Joe and the two had apparently been arguing. Gary described how difficult it was to work for Joe, and had some very sharp words to say about it. The tension was palpable.

On stage that night, things seemed a bit off. The tension between Joe and Gary seemed to roll onto a bad vibe on the stage. Joe was giving Gary nasty looks, occasionally yelling across stage in anger, and the whole thing seemed like a mess. The music was great, but the tension was so high that it really detracted from the show. I was glad I didn't record this show. But I also had tickets for closing night, August 31st. I was hoping it would be a better show.

August 31st was a night where every star in the universe aligned to make the perfect recording of the perfect performance. Instead of being mediocre, this show absolutely burned the house down. The playing was so good, so tight, and the vibe was so good this night. Whatever tension existed a few nights earlier was clearly gone by August 31st. The band delivered an incredible performance, and the recording came out great. The audience was perfectly behaved, and so quiet that you couldn't hear a single word or comment even during the quietest musical passage.

The recording itself is a solid A+ rating. To me, that means it sounds better than a commercial product. This recording is crystal clear, and has a full 60+ decibels of dynamic range. No equalization or compression was added. I only made sonic edits to remove microphone noise, coughs, and sneezes during the most delicate moments. Otherwise, this recording is exactly what I captured the night of the show.

- Badlands features an extra long ending with the audience chanting.
- Spirit In The Night played by a request.

"Night 10 at Giants Stadium closed out the stand in style, with a fantastic mix of the old and the new, greatest hits and greatest misses, all for an ecstatic Labor Day weekend crowd. Mix together the last two nights of a lengthy stand with the attendance of a working film crew and what you get are the kinds of setlists that Springsteen fans have been longing for since this Tour began. If you knew tonight’s opener from the first few notes, well, step to the front of the line of The Legion of Bruce. The sounds of “Cynthia” hit the New Jersey air just after 8:30pm to make her live performance debut, and it made this show a real “yeah, yeah, alright!!” for diehards. Other standouts: “Lucky Town,” “Spirit in the Night,” “Lost in the Flood,” and for the second night in a row “Because the Night” sizzled like a fried egg on a hot Texas street. Um, and that was before the encores. “Kitty’s Back” kicked those off, only to be topped by the “will-he-or-won’t-he” (he will!) appearance of Tom Waits’ “Jersey Girl” to close things out. Springsteen thanked those of his fans who come to the shows night after night, with a special nod to those long distance travelers. " -backstreets.com

The BBC broadcast 5 tracks from this concert, but only 1 was new (Hazor) and the BBC's editing was sloppy, so I preferred to leave the original unclewolfi tracks and fixed only Hazor, which has been the closing track on at least one official Masada live CD. Kochot had to be edited to blend in nicely, but tracks 01-10, artworks and the torrent title are unchanged so you have the choice to download only tracks 11-12 if you have the originals and also omit the new Intro (track 00) if you wish.

This was a free admittance show performed in "Piazza del Campo" , the square where the fampus Horse race "Palio di Siena" take place every year, I was just in front of Patti on the first row, and I left the mic just liyng on a stone in front of me. In my opinion, quality is very good. Usual audience noise with a couple of thrilling moments when Security come to help us because of drunk people hardly pushing us against the barriers and also to carry away two of them who crossed the barriers.... Artwork included. (Thanks a lot to Michela who let me use her fantastic pictures)
