** A Mr. Railing recording**
The Mr. Railing series was started to produce recordings without any crowd distractions. The hope is to try to capture a definitive recording, beginning with eliminating all up close crowd presence. Going against all logic of stealth taping, just throw the mics out in the open. Stealth without being stealth. This was my first attempt at the "new" MSG. The plexiglass is much higher than elsewhere. You really have to reach over and it's tough to fine tune the position of the mics afterwards without drawing too much attention.
Sometimes I can say there is absolutely no up close crowd interference using this method, but this night once in awhile you will hear someone say something, scream something, whistle, holler or a stray close clap. That is coming mostly from the suites directly below the mics, as it wasn't that far to the people below. But, all in all there is very minimal evasive people up close and 95% of the time they remain in the background and off in the distance.
So for your listening pleasure, the finest recording I could make from my location - free of almost all up close clapping, talking, singing, screaming and certainly void of "that person", resulting in nothing but the music - The Eagles at Madison Square Garden.
