Ray Cooper kicks in from track13 onwards, mammoth show under a rain storm... there is an "encore break" before the outro tape but no encores were played (so tracks 26 and 27 are actually superflous). WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His/Her purpose is to introduce songs with bits of bio and translate what the artists say. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. It has to be noted that usually italian djs are adviced to talk that much by the same record companies to prevent bootlegging.

There are still talks and a few "strange" singing tries nearby, but they are not that disturbant. Remy recorded at GA so we have to live with that but it gives a great audience sound overall - esp when they sing on One. Both Bono and Edge feeds bring us clear voice of them and a nice clear guitar.
Remy's recording had a small file error in Zooropa so I patched the complete song with d.m.'s recording.

The audience intro to complete the start of PHTP is taken from homersimpson-79's cam recording, yes that is lossy. I wanted to use AUD recording of the PA, no CD track so we have a lossy bit in the beginning. As the intro was almost complete, I didn't want to leave it out. It's complete on the video, so it was just fair to keep it in the Audio release.

COMMENTS: 
Here's the Scorpio release of Paris 1970. Supposed to be a tremendous release, together with "American Exile" according to 
Scorpio's press report. Paris, September 23rd 1970 is one of the absolute best sounding concerts of the 1970 tour, together with the audience recordings of Essen, Berlin and Cologne. Scorpio did NOT have a new source for this Paris show. Their press report is BS. They reworked the VGP source with sound-software, that's all. Some of hiss and distortion are now gone, but.....that has a price Feel free to pick your own favourite version of this Paris show, you can decide yourself what version you like the most. 

PERFORMANCE: 
The 1970 tour was incredible; one of their best tours ever, musicalwise However, I think that this 2nd Paris show is one of the least good performances this year. The 2 other shows in Paris were fantastic, but this one really never takes off at all. But that's just my own opinion....I know others disagree

They also inserted the 3 songs available from Saville Theatre, London, Dec 14th 1969 plus Honky Tonk Women and Street Fighting Man from "Germany 1970". Of course those German tracks are familiar to me when listening, but I don't know the date, as I only listened to this new Scorpio boot one time, and have not bothered to compare/check out. Is it Essen, Hamburg, Frankfurt or ologne....anyway they're just bonus tracks, that's all

My Notes by the trader:
This is strictly a remaster of the 1st tape source,no patches to complete tracks or plantations have been added.I know that whenever my friends and I have put together a project for the community,we like to make a project as complete as possible, but there is a reason why we've remastered and posted the first tape source on it's own.It's quite a long and detailed story though, so I'll spare everyone the details, and just post my notes about this recording.I've always liked the "Front Row" source, it may be a little muddy in some places,and the boot labels have amplified it a little too hot, but there are moments in the recording that really shine, like "Stairway To Heaven",the acoustic set, and "Whole Lotta Love" (Especially when the band gets into "Tobacco Road").

What we've done to this recording:
- We've reduced the "Hotness" of the recording, and have tried to make it sound easier on the ears.
- We've tried to balance the instruments and the acoustics as much as possible.
- We've reduced as much tape hiss as possible.
- We've tried to bring out things that were buried in the recording (crowd cheers,clapping,commentary).

If you are well versed in Springsteen bootlegs (and if you hang around here, you most likely are), you're probably aware of some of the "birthday shows" that have occurred on or around Bruce's own birthday. Passaic 9/22/78 is a good example, where a cake was wheeled out (with a young lady inside, no less) to celebrate the occasion. Philadelphia 9/24/99 is another "birthday show," as Bruce turned 50 that year and the set had some special additions. 

But what both those shows have in common besides celebrating Bruce's birthday is that they didn't happen ON his birthday. The truth of the matter is, Springsteen has only played three proper concerts on his actual birthday of September 23: the Oakland Amnesty show in 1988, Mile High Stadium in Denver in 1985 and this show in the heart of the Born to Run tour on the day Bruce turned 26. 

The Amnesty shows weren't exactly normal anyway given the multi-artist bill, and though Oakland was one of Bruce's longest sets of the Amnesty tour, it wasn't down to the special occasion, but the fact that Sting had a scheduling conflict and the rest of the headlining artists' sets were extended as well. Like Passaic, Denver '85 featured a birthday cake, but the set that night is rather pedestrian and certainly not extended in celebration--in fact the next night is longer. 

But Ann Arbor 9/23/75 feels like a true 26th birthday extravaganza, with four encores and the majestic slow "Thunder Road" moved to the opening slot for the first time. Moved from the Power Center to Hill Auditorium due to anticipated ticket demand, Brucebase calls it "an extra special performance" and it is hard to argue with that, in a set that includes not only current BTR tour covers like "Sha La La" and "Pretty Flamingo," but the rarer "Carol" and "Twist and Shout." Bruce also nods to "Stagger Lee" in "Spirit in the Night" and later "Nothing's Too Good For My Baby" in "Kitty's Back." 

Ann Arbor '75 also marks the debut of what would become a concert staple for Springsteen for the next ten years, the "Detroit Medley." The arrangement is largely established even on night one, with the exception of the song ending away from Mitch Ryder and instead on Chuck Berry's "Back in the U.S.A.," played just a handful of times, but most famously on the Main Point broadcast in February. 

This is a perfect example of a show that probably has not gotten its due because it wasn't a radio broadcast or a famously high-quality audience tape. Happily, the JEMS archive yielded a second-generation copy that is superior to what's long been in circulation, moving the quality firmly into the "solid for '75" category. The new JEMS transfer also lacks some of the cuts found in previous versions. Samples provided. 

In addition to transferring his DAT copy of the show, Tapeboy shared some further memories around his first time seeing Bruce: 

"I had seen the 'Born To Run' album on the end-cap display at the E.J. Korvette's department store in Roseville, Michigan (which had a great record department...spent many an hour there in my youth) for a week or so before I heard the last minute of the title track on radio one night at work. I bought the album at Korvette's the next day on the strength of those 60 seconds of genius. 

After reading in the Detroit Free Press that Bruce was coming to play in Ann Arbor later that month, I got a pair of tickets, and had to convince a friend of mine to go to the show...convince! Ann Arbor was a great college town with record stores seemingly on every corner. I remember buying Bruce's first two albums at a store there the day of the show. 

I tried to get my 8-track recorder into Hill Auditorium, but was unable to get it past security. That was the only disappointment of the night though. Like many a 'first time seeing Bruce' story, the show felt magical, from the solo 'Thunder Road' opening on the piano to the last notes of 'Twist and Shout' a marathon later. Unbeknownst to us at the time, it was Bruce's 26th birthday as well, and I'm sure that had a effect on the wonderful performance that evening. 

Bob Seger was down front for the show, and I think Bruce ended up in his lap when he ventured into the crowd for 'Spirit In The Night.' Who ever heard of a rock performer going into the audience before Bruce? The mythical nature of the band was there in full force, too: The Big Man, Miami Steve, The Phantom and The Professor, all locked down by The Mighty Max and Garry W Tallent!"

This remaster should be considered an upgrade to the PRRPSAE 05 version. More advanced software and techniques were used during this project. A great deal of time was devoted to repairing or removing as many clicks, pops and other tape errors as possible, using non-destructive techniques. The audience noise and loud claps were more extensively addressed in this version. *18 segments were found to have an abrupt, audible amplitude boost of 3-6dB. The volume of the sound and the hiss both clearly increased in these segments. These were corrected, eliminating this distraction. **The recording system made frequent adjustments to record volume such as attenuation after a loud clap. These were corrected as much as possible. ***The crowd was very enthusiastic that night. Frequently yells, loud claps and whistles were present during the songs. Where present, they were repaired or attenuated as much as possible. Most applause found between songs was left unaltered.

Very good recording for the time by request for Quetzalcoatl. Thought this would be an interesting contrast to the Brown's Mills show from a year later that was recently seeded. Not sure that this particular show has been on DIME before. Source info on etree indicates FM, and everything is crisp and clear and nicely mixed. Might be FM static you hear at times, but this could've also come from and LP. NOt sure.Many extended solos throughout this show. Do You Hear the Voices from start to finish clocks in at nearly 40 minutes. Interesting to me to still hear Shakti tunes in the repertoire and nods to the Johnny McLaughlin Electric Guitarist album that this tour was promoting.

- RTL broadcasted in AM until mid-80's, which explains why the sound is not as clean as a FM programme
- the audience is almost non-existent is the recording, which means that the recording is probably taken from soundboard
- other RTL shows around the same period (even from The Police) have the same 'kind' of sound
- some tracks are cut off; the taper explained me that he had cut off the nasty speaker interrupting the music
