SOURCE: vinyl (2xLP) to 24-bit FLAC uploaded to archive.org under the Berklee College of Music collection. Details of the digital capture are unknown. The Westwood One "Live From Gilly's" pre-FM vinyls are hard to find, and I had no other source for this performance. The record images and the initial sound quality indicate that the records were not in the best condition.
PROCESSING (all tracks): balanced right/left channel gain and delay and corrected phase rotation
PROCESSING (selective): de-click, de-hum, broadband noise removal, de-essing and spectral editing were used when needed on individual tracks
MASTERING: Approach varied from track-to-track. The greatest impediments in the mastering process were vocal, drum and guitar resonances. Trying to achieve clarity without exaggerating these resonances was no easy task. Mastering was limited to use of equalizers, a multiband dynamics processor, and, finally, a gently applied maximizer. No effects, including reverb, were applied.
