Dire Straits finished their "Love Over Gold"-tour with two shows that the Wembley Arena, this here is the first, the 2nd took place on Dec. 21st. The old 80's single vinyl bootleg album "Live in London December 1982" features the Dec. 18th show. That even seems to stem from the same source recording as this torrent here but runs slow and is audiably duller. The sound quality of the 2nd night's floating around recording is far inferior to this here.

Hence, I'd say you get the best possible documentation of the band's Wembley tour finale stint – unless some kind soul comes up with an even lower gen. copy - or even a copy straight off the master, and one with the complete "Portobello Belle"... Hint, hint! :-)

The set is almost the same as on their second, 1983 leg of the tour behind the album, along which "Alchemy" was recorded, as most of us know. Now, as much as I like that official live album as any dedicated Straitonatic, I've always regretted BIG TIME that it was recorded along that 1983 leg as by that time Mark & His Mates had dropped the wah-wah-glorious "It Never Rains" from their set, one of my all-time favourite DS numbers. Grrrr! Hey, simply just daring to play an out-of-fashion-as-could-be wah-wah guitar in 1982 was something highly courageous, I'd say! These days one might call that "retro" in a positive way but at that time when the oh-so-hip critics tended to whip everyone with an axe around their necks - and daring to play it! Well, you simply get Dire Straits' second to last live "It Never Rains" ever!

I uploaded this show by special request from our fellow Dimer jj007jj; my sincere thanks go to my long-time trading and collecting mate Joe "weizman" for our swap back then (sometime in the mid-80's, if my mem'ry serves me well). Extra greetings to our no. 1 Straitionado enlight!

And yet again, my Personal Pillorying Pleasure and ceterum censeo: Screw you Sh*tyoda F*ckords, this show is NOT MEANT FOR SALE. I know you give a sh*t but I take my freedom to tell you what I think of you (and likeminded crookleggers).
