This is 1980 and it is the band GILLAN's year. The album "Glory Road" entered the UK charts at Number 3 and they had just returned from the USA from doing what they did best - playing live. The concert footage on this DVD was performed for and filmed by Scottish TV (STV) to an audience whom Gillan had eating out of their hands by the end of their performance. Classic Rock from Gillan - in their prime.

Filmed for Scottish television in 1980, this memorable live concert captures Ian Gillan of Deep Purple fame and his new band at the pinnacle of their success, with a No. 3 hit on the UK charts. Tracks include "Unchain Your Brain," "Trouble," "If You Believe Me," "Mutually Assured Destruction (M.A.D.)" and "No Easy Way," with bonus archival performances of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water," "Sleeping on the Job" and "Vengeance."

Thank God for Australian bootleggers! This is the most interesting release in years. For the first time is this very rare and odd BBC recording available on disc, and it is complete! Bowie and Ronson play as a duo, so the versions are very "stripped", but never the less perforrmed splendidly. The two other radio sessions are with Bowie and Gabrels as a duo, and were recorded for two different US radio stations. I don't know if the dates for those two sessions are recording dates or broadcast SCARY MONSTERS is played in a so called "country" version, and is actually very good!  All of the songs are great versions, and it's a pity that THE SUPERMEN wasn't played in full. The original pressing of this CD had a fault in EIGHT LINE POEM, and all copies except for 10 were destroyed. These ten discs have a differnt title and a different cover. The title on the cover is UNDER THE TABLE and has a different picture. The back insert is in black and white only and has thicker letters than the normal cover. The discs have credits to Tao Jones on them plus the original title. All sessions on the disc are in excellent sound quality. A true must!

Those tracks are taken from a two hours tapes we recorded....we used two little marshall 1 watt amplifiers with gibson and carvin guitars.......sorry folks if you have to support me singing and playing with John, but i decided to share this to demonstrate how John could be amazing with just a guitar in his hands and me backing...this is one of my best memories i have with John, and then, you know, playing with the man is one of the higlights of my unprofessional carrer as a player and singer (another one was when i played with my band at the local atlantic 40 years anniversary). Last thing is the situation in the house that night..... John and myself were playing pretty drunk and smoked, Greg Douglass was watching, Mark Neilsen (Kingfish drummer) was sleeping on the couch, Novato Frank doin'....you can imagine, and a bunch of girls were hangin' around in the house, pretty devasteted......And i almost forgot, in those 2 night i had the chance to play the guitar that Link Wray gave to John as a gift....

Iggy Pop burst out of Detroit in the late '60's as the frontman for The Stooges. The Stooges were raw, immediate and vulgar. Iggy Pop became notorious for self-mutilating himself on stage and whilst smeared in blood, diving into the audience. Though largely ignored at the time by mainstream audiences, Iggy and The Stooges helped define the sound and attitude that would later be known as punk rock.

Following the break-up of The Stooges, Iggy Pop embarked on a solo career dedicated to keeping the dangerous spirit of rock 'n' roll alive. His music and live act has persistently and subliminally infiltrated the mainstream musical core, and has been a powerful inspiration for countless bands. Iggy Pop is now, genuinely being discovered yet again by a whole new generation.

Candidly reflecting on his life Iggy Pop expresses his amazement that he is still alive to tell the story of his remarkable career; his relationship with Nico, his life-long friendship and musical collaboration with David Bowie, the drugs and partying, his resurgence as the original godfather of punk, his belief in his music and of course his remarkable live performance.
