Arrow SATURDAY NIGHT BROWN OUT @ PADOVA 1984 PREAMBLE
This show captures FZ & the 1984 Touring Band right smack in the middle of their 7 Italian concert itinerary during the European leg of their 20th Anniversary touring schedule. FZ begins the show tonight with a 6 word spoken gesture of greeting, ”Welcome to Saturday Night in Padova”, and just by the tone of Frank’s voice, one can guestimate a real treat of a performance is to follow….which it does……

Just when you might have thought you’ve heard the funniest FZ concert ever, then yet another appears. This is one of those concerts. The onstage ‘Does Humor Belong In Music’ antics tonight commence in Nig Biz with FZ’s animated “Hey Asshole” response to the lyric and steadily progress from there. “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” quotes begin in “Trouble Every Day” and further culminate to a flurry of quotes during “Bamboozled By Love”. Then the concert takes a turn into the bizarre, from “Advance Romance”, where ‘Brown Out’ references start taking over the show. Continuod humor, lyrical deviation and chaos ensue from there.

Should anyone know the story of the ‘brown out’ inspired lyric tonight please chime in. Might it have been something to do with the hotel food? Or was it something Ray gave birth to after eating the hotel food? Or could it have been something to do with a Colombo hotel escort delivering a ‘dessert’ on Ray? Or, perhaps, simply another band member messing about with fudge brownies?  roflol Whatever the case, the time capsule presented herein delivers one heck of a very funny & animated performance all around with some great soloing and guitar tone textures to boot.
