Now here's a band I used to like quite a bit in '81/'82 and then it all faded away fast for me and I was completely out by their third album. Without the visuals and if you're not a female fan, there was just not enough "meat" here for me, musically speaking but the solid first two albums covered that up quite nicely.
I still like their first single a lot but there are bands where (some of) the studio recordings will do and others where I will happily fill my HD with their live recordings. I'd like to say that the best thing that came out of Duran Duran was the Power Station for me, that's where it all came together. I still adore that album to this day.

Anyway, here's one of their BBC radio broadcasts, recorded on the cusp of America taking notice. Playing four shows at the Hammersmith Odeon in three days, the final two were recorded and the final one on the 16th filmed as well (the source of the 2009 official release 'Live At Hammersmith '82!'). The band changed the setlist for both nights quite a bit with four songs exclusive to the 15th, so it's easy to distinguish the performances.
