Original notes from notsaved-
"Here’s a digital SBD master with no analog gens behind it at all, recorded onto a digital Beta recorded straight to PCM, then tracked and flac’d…though not by me…

I would have tracked it a bit differently, but still, who cares…look at this setlist…

Sure, they are weak now, but there was a time, when they could really stir things up…

And this is from that time…

Completely uncirculated, as far as I can tell…The Otherside RHCP database incorrectly lists this one as being from the Tower Theatre, the Chestnut is the correct info, as a couple of reviews for this have come to light verifying it. RHCP were not quite Tower ready, they were still playing clubs for John’s first tour…it wouldn’t be long before…nevermind, I’d rather not talk about it…

NOTES
Recorded by me off air direct from the original broadcast on 19th June 1993 to a Panasonic Hi-Fi VHS video recorder in SP audio only mode. Sometime in the mid to late 1990's I misguidedly transferred all my radio recordings to VHS LP audio mode. This combined with the age of the tapes has resulted in some evident distortion throughout.

There are some edits in Pictures of yOu from where I belive I had to take out some static pops. AGain this an IEM, its not perfect and there may be a few edits in other places I am not able to remember. What is on the CDs is on the the final version at this point, the DAT clone doesnt play anymore due to digital problems. Remember what you mom tells you about things if you have nothing nice to say about this recording, just keep it to yourself and dont say it. IEMs dont have the fidelity that an audience DAT does obviously. That being said, some of you will enjoy it

From the BBC website:
The Radio 2 Electric Proms launch with one of the most successful musicians and flamboyant showmen of all time, Sir Elton John, who's won a multitude of awards from Brits, Grammys, Golden Globes to Oscars. For this special event, two pianos take centre stage at The Roundhouse in London. One for Elton, and the other, for an artist who inspired Elton as a young musician; singer songwriter Leon Russell.Elton is performing tracks from his new studio album, The Union, produced in collaboration with Leon Russell, and he will draw upon an incredible back catalogue of hits amassed during his four-decade career. The concert also brings on board two exciting new names, the critically acclaimed rapper Plan B and young singer-songwriter Rumer, to perform alongside Elton John. Leon Russell's career runs the musical gamut from Sinatra to the Stones, the Beach Boys and B.B.King. He's written some of the most-covered songs in the pop songbook, and three Stones and two Beatles performed on his debut solo record. He was recently the subject of a Radio 2 profile, which included contributions from Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Herb Alpert and, of course, Elton John. One of Elton's first champions in the States, even before the young singer-songwriter had set foot in America, he was also one of Elton's greatest influences as a piano player.Sir Elton says: "I'm delighted to be kicking off this year's Radio 2 Electric Proms, particularly as I'll be joined on stage by Leon who is one of my musical heroes. The performance will feature some very special guests and memorable moments. The first of three Radio 2 Electric Proms for 2010, tonight's concert is presented by Chris Evans and Jo Whiley and it will be followed by performances from Robert Plant [Friday] and Neil Diamond [Saturday]. R2 Electric Proms: Sir Elton John will be broadcast on BBC Two on Saturday 30 October. A documentary featuring an exclusive interview and highlighting Sir Elton's musical history, career highlights and influences will also be broadcast. Red button and online will also provide exclusive clips and behind the scenes footage from Saturday 30 October.

The Performance and Recording:
A "pitch-perfect" set from Johnny and the boys this go around. After nearly 3 years together, this incarnation of PiL is as good as any I have heard. This includes the Levene/Wobble era. Sorry metal boxers, just my take. Some classics from the last tour most notably "Poptones", "Tie Me To The Length Of That", "Psychopath" and "Memories" have been eschewed in favour of the newer "Deeper Water", "One Drop", "Reggie Song" and "Out of The Woods" (John's ode to General Stonewall Jackson). The new tracks sit very nicely in the set with the classics. In fact the 9 album songs "Disappointed", "Warrior" and "U.S.L.S. 1" with their 90's-era Stephen Hague synth lines appear more out of place in the set than the songs from "This Is PiL". John appeared to be in good spirits perhaps aided by the Baileys. He did seem somewhat perterbed at the lack of audience enthusiasm. It did make for a fantastic recording though. In all sincerity I just fucking LOVE Club Nokia! It's bar-none the best sounding 2,500 capacity venue that I have ever heard.

John's voice was incredible and did not appear any worse for wear after being on the road for a month performing 2 hour sets. A nice balance of all the instruments with John's signatory singing.

"Religion" came out pretty "hot" during John's calls for "more bass". I wasn't able to adjust levels on the fly as I was caught napping. Sorry about that. This time Icarus flew a litttle too close to the sun (Ha Ha!). The clipping isn't too bad and is isolated to the right channel for a few moments. I was able to recover the peaks in Audition by employing a 107Hz roll-off something a "proper battery box" would have done anyway. Other than that, it's pretty close to perfect. The Sunday night ("we gotta work the next day") L.A. audience was, much to the chagrin of Mr. Lydon, rather sedate. There are repeated calls for the audience to "participate" during the show which was being filmed for a documentary. Said participation during "Rise" was rather pathetic and anemic with the exception of the "Yuh-Yuh" dude's unique blend of bird calls (WTF?). Thankfully his whistles and trills are mostly isolated between numbers and the encore break. House levels drop for a brief
moment during the first measure of "Out of The Woods".

Comments: Another great release from the folks at ZigZag. Discs 1 and 2 are from the July 4, 1997 Montreux Jazz Festival show, and do not suffer from the small dropouts that plague the otherwise excellent Gods Meeting from Blue Note. Discs 3 and 4 are the final show of the tour, in excellent mono soundboard quality. It's interesting to compare the performances, as they vary considerably, with the earlier performances far more restrained than the later. Packaging, as with 1998's ECEC release, is a plastic clamshell type with no inserts. Recommended.

Miles Davis Quintet B&W video synced to the Miles Tree audio that was uploaded on Dime in 2011 by arthurking the partial videos are on 3 VHS tapes there is another partial raitre broadcast I have that has an extra couple of minutes of the concert but I can't find that tape. At the end of the short "Masqualero" are the TV credits over the music so don't think it's the end as it continues
the songs have now been placed in their correct concert order with a 2 second cross fade between songs I don't have all the versions trading collectors have but it's the best I've seen and synced to the audio it's an upgrade for me

chapter 8 - from England TV show where Ronnie Scott shows some video from the show at his club in 1969 he mentions it's the first time Miles has been on TV (in England) and I don't know if he was on all that much afterwards !!! Trivia: Ronnie Scott talking about Dave Holland says " From stable lad to derby fame " .... anyone know what that means ?

notes:
And now for the penultimate day of this legendary festival... I'm sure this is one of the most anticipated performances - a rare early performance by Yes
Yes fans are in for a treat - sonics aside, this is a really interesting listen. First, with the exception of "Then", they only play covers, including the rare "It's Love" from The Rascals which extensively features Chris Squire on vocals and bass (there is a version with Steve Howe on the recent live boxed set) - and, already at that point, has Anderson quoting the introductory theme to Stravinsky's "Rite Of Spring" (as he again did on "Yessongs"). The climax of the gig, I think, is the very extended "I See You" which has one of those long, wild guitar/drums duets between Banks and Bruford that Banks has referred to repeatedly but here's the first real chance of hearing what it really was like. Of course, Yes went on to make great music, arguably better and more accomplished, but there's a wildness and freedom to their early incarnation that was missing in their later, superstar days.

Lastly, the usual reminder about the sound quality - the tape recorder used was way below modern standards and the sound is nowhere near "professional" quality. This reservation aside, however, this is simply an unbelievable document of a legendary festival, and so our hearfelt thanks to the taper, JJB, for recording this at the time, and for allowing me to seed it here.

(technical note: JJB tells me he remembers using a Grundig tape recorder with LR14 batteries, using 8cm-diameter reels with a 4,75 cm/s recording speed)

Lineage: Bob Wootton's 71/2" reel tape -> CD-R (x) -> FLAC
Sound quality: A-

SEEDER NOTES
Info: Two recent transfers of the tape circulate, the second transfer having a right channel dropout from the end of 1 into the beginning of 2 but generally with better sound than the first transfer.

This recording comes from a 7 1/2" reel tape, that once belonged to Bob Wootton. It is likely that Carl Perkins' and the Carters' sets, along with the first couple of Cash's songs exist on another reel. The source tape is probably not the master.

1 and 16 are cut. The tape begins at the end of 1 and side one runs out during 16.

I have left the tracks in the grouping they had on the CD-R to avoid the circulation of different versions. Feel free to split them by yourself, but please NEVER distribute a lossy version (MP3 etc.)!

This recording obviously is the "first transfer", because it doesn't have the dropout. The sound is nonetheless great for a Cash show from that time, it's a typical SBD sound with very distinct vocals and low audience level. All in all a fantastic performance, with Johnny in perfect shape. He does his best to deliver what is one of his top vocal performances.

If anybody knows anything about the other, "second transfer" or even the missing first tape, please contact me!

This recording was shared online for the first time at the Johnny Cash Bootleg Forum at www.ridethistrain.net. More info about Johnny Cash's performances at www.cashliverecordings.com (or www.jcinfocenter.com, respectively)!
