Comments:
In November of 2001, our friend David Le Hunte (aka Massed Gadget) sent us a copy of this show from what was then known as the best recording of this date. I spent some time cleaning it up
and, ultimately, improved its sound quality. Notably, 'Speak To Me' was over seven minutes long with about six minutes being just the heartbeat...

Anyway, back to our story. While on the job, our pal Gonzo set out to find the best possible recording, and over time uncovered the master that we've used for this release. It comes from a generous taper who wishes only to be known as JCE (oooh, the mystery) to us. However, he has our deepest thanks and appreciation for this rare find. To my ears, this is the finest audience recording of the 1994 European Tour.

Show Notes:
This show was indeed the "Last Bell" to date for Pink Floyd as a group, as this is the final 1994 show that they performed, as well as the last full performance of Dark Side Of The Moon. The show was a benefit for Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and others. The recording is an enjoyable listen from start to finish.

Technical Notes:
This is a powerful document that stands on its own, since it is possibly one of the best audience recordings of the 1994 Division Bell Tour. The crowd was rather quiet that night, which contributed to a very decent recording that boasts excellent quality throughout. There is nice mix and balance throughout. The only very minor wart is the short tape flip during the early lead-in to 'Sorrow'; other than that, the show is complete.

Taper's Comments:
This was the last of 14 nights that the Floyd performed at Earls Court, London, and the final night of the Division Bell tour--and as of today, the last time that Pink Floyd played live. During the run of the shows, the metal heads from the Division Bell album and CD cover were on the top of the entrance overhang at the front of Earls Court, so as you came out of the tube station, they just loomed above you--they were huge! The stone heads from the cassette cover, equally huge, were inside the foyer just behind one of the VW Golf Pink Floyd cars that had been produced--I guess it was one of the 30 Golfs that were imported into the UK.

I had got a ticket for this night because my ticket for the second night (13/10/94) was in Stand 8 which had collapsed on the opening night of the Earls Court shows (12/10/94). The two stands that collapsed weren’t replaced until the 17th I think, which was the rescheduled date for the show cancelled on the 12th. I couldn’t make that night--had to be back at work--but I was given a full refund AND a ticket exchange. The only show for which they had tickets left was for the last night, and I jumped at the chance. So this was a free show for
me ;-)

The show was recorded on my old Aiwa personal stereo with an Aiwa mic that came with it. It was the one that I used for quite a few of the '94 shows. The mic was a small stereo mic, which was clipped to the peak of a Pink Floyd tour baseball cap. My seat was about midway back on the right hand side, on the first block that rose from the floor--Block 6.

Whereas most of the '94 shows had the huge silver construction in the centre of the stadiums that included the mixing desk and the glitter ball, at Earls Court that wasn’t there. The glitter ball was suspended from the ceiling and was, in effect, upside down. When it came down and opened up, the effect was far better than at any other venue that I saw the show. As during the Wall shows, the ceiling had loads of flags hanging down--this time with the various head emblems that were on the artwork rather than the hammers. Apparently they were there to help the sound!

For me, this was the best '94 show that I saw, the performance of DSOTM was great, and the band seemed to really enjoy the show. Dave also embellished on quite a few tunes--'Sorrow', 'Run Like Hell' and 'One Of These Days'. There was a much lighter mood in the arena. The shows following the stand collapse had a tense atmosphere, and the performances were very staid and workmanlike, whereas this seemed to be a very relaxed performance.

Dave’s comment at the end was one that he used a few times: “We’ll see you again one of these days,” which seemed true at the time as there were rumours of a European tour in '95-like they had done in '89 after the MLOR World Tour. At the very end of the show, after the encore and during the applause, the three backing singers appeared on stage dressed in cleaning maid outfits and brooms and swept Dave, Nick and Rick off the stage.

On leaving the arena, all I really noticed was that three banks of four searchlights--one at each side of Earls Court and one on the roof--were shining their very powerful lights into the clear London sky, as people made bleating noises as we were herded down into the tube station. Enjoy the show! JCE, 30/01/03

04 - Roundhouse Interview (Date Unknown) - BBC Webcast

Notes:
The Roundhouse gig was originally broadcast on BBCi as a 33 minute looped on 30th October 2006 for 4 days as part of BBC's Electric Proms coverage. A further track was shown on a highlights package for 3 days from 31st October. The concert was also broadcast on Radio 2 on 4th November 2006. A BBC One Sessions programme aired on 26th November 2006. On 17th December 2006 a further highlights package was aired on BBC2.

From all these broadcasts only Man In A Purple Dress has not been seen or heard.

The BBCi broadcast consisted of ICE, Skr, W&G, WAY & T&T (in that order). MG was shown during the highlights package. The radio broadcast didn't include MG nor T&T. The BBC1 broadcast consisted of ICE, WAY, W&Gx2, MG, W&Gx2, BOR, PW, AJ, SMFM & T&T. The BBC2 broadcast consisted of MPT and WAY plus a very short interview segment with Pete (this is the same as the Bonus Material footage).

The radio broadcast resembled the closest order in which the tracks were played live.

On this DVD, tracks 2 and 12 to 19 were taken from the BBC1 broadcast. Tracks 3 to 11 were taken from the BBCi broadcast. Track 1 is from the Radio broadcast. Track 14 was taken from the BBC2 broadcast. Due to MG and T&T not being broadcast on radio, the audio for these two tracks has been taken from the video source and converted to LPCM for dvd compliance.

To ensure continuity, the above choice was made so as the footage did not chop and change between that with logo's and that without and to reduce the amount of editing required to sync in the FM audio with the TV footage. The BBCi footage has a small logo in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. The BBC1 and BBC2 footage is logo free.

There are some gaps within the footage. * for 34 seconds. ** for 18secs & 4 secs respectively and *** for 5mins 39secs. The first being where Pete describes the Roundhouse and them himself. This was not broadcast on TV. The second is Mike Post Theme where the introduction by Roger was not aired, nor the crowd chanting "Who" between MPT and PW. The third is Sparks. So as not to have a blank screen whilst watching this DVD, Scruff (thanks mate) sent me some scans to use. The first blank gap was filled with recent Magazine Covers. The intro to MPT and the crowd chanting was filled with a few screen grabs. Sparks was filled with Tommy memorabilia. If you find this irritating, simply look away from the
screen!

No recompression or re-encoding took place with the Roundhouse video.

For the picky amongst us (and I'm one of those), there are two points of note. Firstly, there is about 2 seconds of footage missing from this dvd just prior to Sound Round starting. The BBCi footage differed from the Radio broadcast in showing an almost false start. It was edited out of the Radio broadcast. Secondly, there is a sync issue towards the end of SMFM, where Roger says thank you. The BBC1 footage shows more crowd cheering at this point. I did not want to attempt to sync this in correctly. You will hopefully agree with me that these two points are minor and will not spoil your enjoyment of this DVD! Perhaps you may have never noticed these, but I thought I'd point them out to you!

The bonus material was captured using the same equipment and settings as above with the exception of Parkinson and the Webcast. Parkinson was captured on a standalone DVD recorder. The webcast was downloaded as an RM file and converted to MPEG2 for dvd compliance using WinAVI v7.6. This footage is therefore of lesser quality than the rest. The Letterman show is allegedly broadcast in 16:9, however it isn't really. Therefore it is here on this dvd in 4:3 aspect.

Many thanks to GuessWho for supplying the Parkinson footage.

Many thanks to Scruff for taking time and effort to scan some Covers and Tommy images for use to fill in the gaps.

Artwork and MD5 Verification Files all included.

If this is shared elsewhere please leave this text file intact, thank you!

Please note that this DVD is an Upgrade. This version has a catalogue number of
GH_DVD_WHO_016_v2. The previous inferior version was GH_DVD_WHO_016.

The recording to PC of this concert was not quite as loud as I would have liked, it has therefore been boosted slightly using Multimaximiser. This has been set at a level that increases the volume withoutadding extra compression or limiting. The FM broadcast had quite enough compression on it, it just needed to be slightly louder.

Tape story:
The venue is the main arena in Bologna (actually Casalecchio di Reno) formerly known as Futurshow Station and PalaMalaguti I had a seat at the left of the first level gallery in front of the stage at about 60 m from it Very quite people around me (except for the third encore, of course...) The sound of the recording is excellent Several late arrivers with seats in my raw passed in front of me during Closedown, others left their seats during the first encore break and came back during At Night, resulting in temporary muffled sound in both tracks (30+10 secs)

What about the show?
It was my fourth The Cure show (the others were all in the Milan area in 1992, 2008 and 2012; 2008 and 2012 were also taped) A very enjoyable concert with an excellent screen and light show quite uncommon for The Cure A possible "setlist of my dreams" with the "Seventeen Seconds encore", Charlotte Sometimes and also IOTWCS debuting in the European Leg of the 2016 Tour (neglecting 7 pre-1982 tracks!!!... never in this leg) Happy Birthday to Roger was sung at the end of the first encore break

Technical notes:
- The total running time of the recording was 2:47:06; I have cut the first 52 secs and last useless 24 secs reducing the master to 2:45:50.
- I have amplified (+5.5 dB on the left channel, +4.5 dB on the right channel) and slightly compressed (-12 dB/1.5:1) the whole recording and faded-out the last 10 secs
- If you burn to audio CD, you will need 3 CDs (CD1: 01-13; CD2: 14-25; CD3: 26-36)

On November 2016, Helloween announced that they would go on tour with both of the band's singers: current Andi Deris and former Michael Kiske, along with founders Michael Weikath and Markus Grosskopf, guitarrist, also singer and Gamma Ray founder Kai Hansen and the newcomers Sascha Gerstner and Daniel 'Dani' Löble. So, the seven musicians started the Pumpkins United Tour with a "very limited exclusive premiere show" in Monterey, Mexico, where Michael Kiske was kind of ill and he could not sing with all of his potential, and he even had to use a few pre-recorded vocal samples, which made a few fans(?) angry and a lot of them worried. He recovered very quickly, as can be heard in this torrent, and hopefully will be made available in DVD if they release this concert in video as intended. The equipment used here was a Zoom H1 Handy Recorder set to 33% input sensibility,24-bit and 96kHz. That's it. The concert ran smoothly until the sequence "Starlight / Ride the Sky / Judas / Heavy Metal (Is the Law)" that made something break in the P.A. TWICE. So, there's the first, incomplete attempt, the first fix attempt, the second song attempt and its successful subsequent fix after a few minutes, and the complete song medley.

I couldn't find my DPA microphones. I think I accidently left them with TSA on a recent trip. Bummer. So, I decided to go ahead and record the show with the DR-2d's internal mikes. I'd used them before and was surprised by the good quality. My seat was 11 rows in front of Ronnie's pit in the middle of section D. There was a stage right speaker stack pointing directly at me. This was the source for this recording. I have done some very basic mastering to get this recording release ready. I graciously invite a Stones mastering expert to remaster this. I will be providing the raw 24-96 files so we don't get a remastering, but just a different mastering.

The wind was quite gusty and there was quite a bit of wind noise coming from the stage mikes/speaker stack for the opening act. There is occasionally some wind noise on this recording. It's not that bad and I didn't try to deal with it.

Because I was recording from essentially one speaker stack the recording is a little mono-ish for the music. The relatively calm and appropriate audience noise is in excellent stereo.

I made 2 minor cuts between 2 songs. So if someone wants to use this for the soundtrack of a video please be aware. Not an issue if you use raw files.

I had the 80Hz low cut on to try to protect the recording from being overloaded. It wasn't needed. So a bass boost wouldn't hurt.

Lastly the recording is a little crispy on the high end. This was evident by the concert sound and was subsequently recorded. Maybe a little EQ is in order, but not necessary.

I'm nitpicking here. The recording turned out much better than I had hoped. At times the mix is somewhat eclectic and variable. I'm sure there is some phasing due to the wind, but that doesn't explain all of it. Overall though I'm happy with the sound. Check the samples.

I think Street Fighting Man is a great choice as an opening song. It's a powerful rock song and sets the tone for the rest of the show. I had checked out a few recordings from earlier shows on this tour and that opening riff by Keith wasn't always nailed. So, I was really ready to see what we were going to get. When I saw Keith charge out on the stage in the spotlight and nailed it I was immediately overjoyed.
