I don´t think this one has ever circulated but there are not so many
shows from the 2002 tour around, so I thought I would give a go. I have
some clear images about this show, the main one being asleep on the
floor of the Palavobis towards the end of the show. And, before you can
blame me, it was not because I was bored by the music but simply because
I was tired after a week of almost no sleeping because of work.
Another thing I clearly remembered was that at the beginning of the show
I had a seat at the back of the hall but pretty in front of the stage.
The sound was good but unfortunately I had to deal with people talking
during the music, which was even more disturbing during the first couple
of tracks. During Phase Dance I decided to move down to the floor.
The concert started at about 9.15 PM and at one point it reached the 2,5
hours marks and the band had not exited yet for encores! I was really
exhausted and during the last track I recorded I was asleep holding the
microphone. It was almost midnight and I had to get up early the
following morning so I decided to leave. I don´t know what else the band
played, but normally they were closing the set with Minuano and Bilbao.
Of course I regret not being able to record the whole thing and among
the 550+ shows I attended, it very rarely happened for me to leave
before the end. Last time I was very close to quit was during this
year´s Marillion appearance in Milano at the Alcatraz: I was sweating
because of the fever and outside it was nearly snowing...I was sooo
sick. Also I had to wake up the following day at 4.30 AM to catch my
flight to Paris. But at the end I stayed. For GYBE in Paris a couple of
years ago I was so pissed about the music that I left after 30 minutes.
But these are only very few examples.
