Iron Butterfly Rehearsals - Demos - Radio - Live (STU/SHN)

(Studio SHN)

Some of this 7 CD-r release is sourced from cassette tapes I got in trade many years ago. Some of it is sourced from cassette tapes that a friend of mine found in an estate sale. He said that almost everything at the estate sale had been sold when he spotted about 10 cassettes with hand written labels. At first he thought they were nothing special until he started reading the notes. Apparently nobody else had noticed that these were something very special since they were still there. He knew right away and got them for me. There are a lot of rare short pieces as well as some rare rehearsals and concerts.

When I started this project, I hadn't planned on making it a 7 disc release. After working on it for a while I realized that it worked better as multi disc release. Iron Butterfly has
been through so many personnel changes it is really hard to keep track of it all. I started with a live show that represented an Iron Butterfly personnel lineup that is about as far removed from what I considered to be ideal as it ever got. The last live show I included in this collection is a soundboard recording from Toronto in 1988. This show is by the reformed Iron Butterfly which consisted of Ingle - Braunn - Bushy - Dorman, the same lineup as the In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida era Iron Butterfly.

R.E.M. - 1981-2004 - Remnants - 12 CD's (FLAC)

(FLAC)

This fantastic collection of REM is a must for any fan who hasnt got it, and any music fan.
Includes all artwork, and all files are flac.

The description below is from BOOTLEG ZONE;

It crawled from the South...straight outta Athens ... the four-headed monster known as R.E.M. Collected here for the first time, the Holy Grail of R.E.M. collections. Spanning 1981-2004 and containing 200 songs, from the beginnings of what would come to be known as college rock to the present, IT'S ALL HERE! The complete non-lp tracks! Every non-lp A-side, every B-side, every compilation, soundtrack, and tribute album track, the promos, the flexis, and the ever elusive fan club singles. The hits, the near misses, the shoulda-beens and also-rans. Even if you own every R.E.M. album, you are still only getting half the sotry. This is the other half.

Another one from the trading days. I got this one probably about 12 or 13 years ago. I was always surprised that I never really saw it making the rounds on torrent sites, so I figured that I would put it out there. This is probably my favorite collection of Steely Dan outtakes, featuring embryonic versions of songs that would appear not only on Katy Lied, but others that would resurface on The Royal Scam and Aja. Also, I would rank “Mr. Sam” as the greatest lost Steely Dan track, even above “The Second Arrangement.”

::: Right fine SBD for the era but some vocal mike distortion. Check samples for fun or folly.
::: WARTS: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Vocal mikes were too hot & probably not that great quality & sometimes a bit distorted, but painstakingly repaired it where possible. Tape splices between #03 (so tracked separately), 09&10, 15&16 (set change), 17&18, #20(?) in talk . #17 cuts after 6&1/2mins. #29 cuts after 1min. #35 cuts after 70secs.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: If it circulates Mk1 version is raw transfer with only a few volume tweaks & is missing MANY 100s of fixes.
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This Mk3 remaster is without NR but WITH EQ (to brighten it up). The Mk2 version without EQ may be found elsewhere.
::: NOTE that the EQ here makes some distortion issues more apparent, so will not be to everyone's taste!
::: Alan Wilson's reels labeled "January 1967 Ash Grove" but dates were matched to Marina Bokelman Collection lists.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: Only 1 track, #23, overlaps with DocTinker's "Unknown Club, 1967(?), sbd!" 2005 upload or its 2018 "1967-01-xx Ash Grove COMPILATION" remaster.
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: #23 overlaps with "1967-01-xx Ash Grove COMPILATION" remaster has different lineage here. The "1967-01-xx Ash Grove COMPILATION" remaster may be found elsewhere.
::: Marina Bokelman Collection lists are at www.olemiss.edu/depts/general_library/archives/finding_aids/MUM00584.html
::: According to Bokelman's list this is all the material on tape from 1967-01-13.
::: #08 Bob announces "Louise" then changes song to "Five Long Years".
::: #14 Bob says they'll play "Dust My Broom"&"Mojo"&then take a break but they change to "Canít Hold Out", then Bob announces "Mojo"&tape cuts.
::: 1967-01-13 all copies are missing the show closer "Mojo" after track #15.
::: #09 "Five Long Years" is sometimes aka "Have You Ever Been Mistreated?" & "If You've Ever Been Mistreated".
::: #19 title unknown ("Blues In E"or"You Said You Was Hurtin'"or?). Has lyrics from different songs & unknown lyrics.
::: #23 is also listed in places as "There's Something On Your Mind".
::: In '67 it was essentially sets at the Grove, not shows. The club was rarely emptied between performances (info courtesy of Alan Bershaw).
::: Show/Set breaks are clear, but the Early & Late Show attributions are only guesses.
::: 1967 Ash Grove Canned Heat tapes exist from January 8,13,14,20 & March 29 so there are hours more!
::: Could someone PLEASE share the other Ash Grove tapes while we can enjoy them? It's 51 years on...
::: There were reportedly NO Canned Heat tapes in the Wolfgang's Vault Ash Grove tape stash.
::: Some YouTube Ash Grove uploads labeled "1967-01-20" are actually "1967-01-14" according to Bokelman list.
::: Until we get lossless copies, don't miss added Ash Grove Canned Heat YouTube trax, like the 1 w/Taj Mahal at www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-dRY7Hn3Ig
::: The same Mark Andes on bass who was a founding member of Spirit, Jo Jo Gunne & Firefall.
::: Frank Cook was also the drummer & manager for early Pacific Gas & Electric (from 1967-1970).
::: What is on the 1999 C.Heat Pontiac label boot CD (CD-r?) "Ash Grove Boogie"? Could someone PLEASE upload it?
::: Barry Hanson is apparently Canned Heat's manager at this time (pre-Dr.Demento era while living w/Spirit in Topanga Canyon).

Recording Information ::: SBD -> unknown mono reel-to-reel recorder -> master tapes -> unknown (probably only reel) generations -> Alan Wilson's reels.

Playback circa 2000 ::: Alan Wilson's reels -> CDRs -> wavs.

Remastering 2016/2017 ::: wavs -> Audacity [channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, speed/pitch seemed OK on average & left alone, NO noise reduction, EQ (equalisation) applied on entire recording to brighten up the sound (NOTE that it does make some distortion issues more apparent)] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded 2018-01-xx.

Line-up ::: Robert Ernest Hite aka Bob "The Bear" Hite - harmonica, vocals // Alan Christie "Blind Owl" Wilson - electric guitar, harmonica, vocals // Henry Charles "The Sunflower" Vestine - electric guitar // Mark Andes - electric bass // Frank Cook - drums, vocals (#15).

16 Announcement

As far as I can see this show is not currently on the tracker however I'm sure it must have been at some stage as it's a popular show and is probably best known for appearing on the roio "A Light In The Black", of which I have three different versions and in differing sound quality.

Anyway onto this particular recording of that same show as mentioned above. What can I say other than I am totally blown away by it.

If you love, or even like, Rainbow’s 1976-78 material, you MUST grab this version from Tarantura entitled "Ave Maria" and which the recording is taken directly from Mr Peaches Master tapes.

This audience recording is quite frankly stunning in quality. The recording is deep, powerful, and balanced.

I know rating sound on recordings on such as these is very subjective and is very much in the ears of the listener, but I am going to say that the sound on this show is absolutely as good as it gets for an audiece recording so 10/10 or Ex+/Sup.

Notes:
This is a beautiful collection of rehearsal playing, last put out in a fabulous Green Mountain Boys version. This is the first time, to my knowledge, that the entire Barncard Dat has been available with all 2 hours. There's a shinid for it, but I've never seen it circulated. And per Barncard's notes, included, none of these tracks have ever been used on the Crosby or any other album.
