comments:
one of two WBCN pre-recorded broadcasts of U2 at the Paradise in March 1981. etree lists this as the late show. they played 2 shows on March 5, two more on March 6. according to the etree setlist of this, the broadcast omitted "another time, another place" and it says the cry goes into electric co. sounds here like into the heart is followed by electric co. this performance is a little more "ragged" or "looser" than the other broadcast, and appears to be an incomplete show. it sounds to be a completely different show than the other broadcast, even though most of the song sequence is the same (not all) the performances are very different, and between 2 sets, there are 4 performances of "11 o ckock tick tock". Surprising, considering that U2 already knew enough songs at this early time to play a 2 hour concert of all different songs. but before one of them Bono says "we played this one before, we'll play it again". they must have been in a real 11 o clock mood for these shows. that song was just getting big in Boston around this time, along with "twilight" and "I will follow". From the Big Names in Small places department.
