Notes by the uploader:
A bit of a story to the coming of these tapes (I also taped the Computer World show), when these shows were first announced I was very excited and was hoping to get tickets. I was in class the time these went on sale and had for different internet browsers up with 2-3 tabs each to get ANYTHING. Sadly, I got nothing for any date. I was pretty bummed, so I started posts on Craigslist to get a ticket to any of the shows. I was also willing to pay a bigger amount just because "Man Machine" and "Computer World" were my two favorite albums, and could only go to the weekend shows due to final exams and I worked on Sunday.

Finally, a two weeks before the show, someone said they had an extra and I booked my plane ticket and headed to NYC!!! I was so excited and fortunate to have the opportunity to see this show. The venue, was The Museum of Modern Art in the 2nd floor atrium. I went there earlier in the day to check out the museum and look around. Amazing stuff, but I was wondering about the tall ceilings and how the sound would be. Lets just say, it was the best sound I have ever heard… ever.. for a concert. Simply amazing.

The 3D was spectacular with Kraftwerk's simple visuals. Was so pumped to hear "Spacelab" live after watching the Munich YouTube video hundreds of times since October. A young Ralf Hutter singing "Radioactivity" for the visuals at the beginning of that song gave me chills. This night was super special to me. Something I will never forget in my life. The stage itself was small and the left stack had a column right to the left of it. They put some sound foam on it, and I thought that it would be the best to record right in front of it because it would bounce off it nicely, and it sure did! A bit in the middle there were some people (who obviously were not big fans of Kraftwerk and just wanted to be there for its "exclusivity") decided to have a faint conversation for a good 10 minutes or so, before going to get another drink. People I talked to said that this was the most energetic night in terms of audience. Most of the other nights were very quiet, clapping and woo'ing at the end of songs. I am very happy with the outcome of this tape and have to say it's one of my better ones.

Faith No More - 1983-10-11 - San Francisco, CA (AUD/FLAC)

(Audience FLAC)

Faith No More
Date: 1983-10-11 - 1983-??-??
Venue: (ingnseps - S.T.O.H.) "First Performance" @on Broadway, San Francisco, CA + "New Love, Same Neuroses; New Hairstyles, Same Minds"
Sets: 45min+
Media: CDR
Number: 1
Source: cassette master > wav > flac
Quality: A

Side 1: (Live) The entire first performance of Faith. No More., recorded on Oct.11 at SF's On Broadway.
Band members consisted of Faith. No More. along with appreciated assistance from Joe Pie (vocals) and Jake Smith (guitar).
Sound was engineered by Matt Wallace.

Thanks to all who attended the show and enabled its success, and to those who hope to see the next one.

There is nothing very odd about disliking birds of prey, but this is no reason for holding it against large birds of prey that they carry off lambs. And when the lambs whisper amoung themselves,'These birds of prey are evil, and does this not give us a right to say that whatever is the opposite of the bird of prey must be good?' there is nothing intrinsically wrong with this argument, although the birds of prey will look somewhat quizzically and say,"We have nothing against these good lambs; in fact, we love them; nothing tastes better than tender lamb.'"

"projected" line-up:

Joe Pop-O-Pie (vocals)
Jake Smith (guitar)
Bill Gould (bass)
Mike Bordin (drums)
Roddy Bottum (keyboards)

01 Intro > The Jungle
02 Why Do You Bother?
03 Poop's Principles
04 Spirit > The Words of Jamal

Side 2: "New Love, Same Neuroses; New Hairstyles, Same Minds."

This side is an attempt to sum up the feelings of FNM during the time period surrounding the live show. Recorded by FNM.

Transferred from the original cassette by ingnseps.
Remastered by S.T.O.H.

32 years ago this week, Faith No More played their first show under that name.
The first and to this day, ONLY documented copy of this scarce cassette was shared on youtube in 2009 by ingnseps.
Before he auctioned the tape off on ebay (for what in hindsight must've been a somewhat disappointing $102), ingnseps was kind enough to share his lossless transfer with me.
S.T.O.H. performed his usual wizardry on it, resulting in a 5min increase in total time after speed-correction.

What we have here is the bands' first performance from On Broadway, San Francisco 1983-10-11 from the cassette A side and the bands' first demos recorded as Faith No More from the B side. The first ever lossless distribution of these essential recordings.

Here comes a new version of the Torino multicam. I received 2 new complete and great full HD recording of the show (well actually not totally for one of them as i used it for 5 songs on the previous mix). The result is an enhance (i hope ) mix, which allowed me to remove all the youtube sources used before.

This is an excellent quality audience recording from the summer tour of North America in 1970.

Original notes:

Ken & Judy Lee Proudly Present
The Port Chester Resurrection Project
Title: Transit Of Venus

The original audience master cassette was recorded on a Sony TC124 with unknown Sony dynamic mics, spread approx. 25-30 ft. across the balcony, by Ken & Judy Lee. The cassette was baked, processed and transfered via Tascam 122 MK-III > Lucid ADA1000 > Tascam CDRW 700 (CDR) by John Jay Hance in 2004. Further editing and tracking performed by Peter G with Soundforge. Audio extraction via Peak 3.2.1 on a G4 Titanium Powerbook, compressed with xACT V1.2 (flac level 6), and seeded by BoldCaptain via BitTorrent 3.2.2a. Extra thanks to Dave T. for the help with the setlist.

Notes: Another outstanding offering from Ken and Judy Lee, this time a triple bill. McKendree Spring, Livingston Taylor, and Jethro Tull. while I was familiar with the last two, McKendree Spring was unknown to me. A web search revealed quite a bit of info. For those as unfamiliar as I was , Fran McKendree fronted this progressive band from the mid to late 60's into the 70''s. He is still very active in the music scene, both as a musician and a producer. The sound of McKendree Spring is quite different, mixing a psychedelic sound with a progressive edge employing violins, horns and moog synthesizers. I wish there was more of this here, but as an opening act his time on stage was limited. I''m sure you will like it, and probably want more as well. As the tape begins abruptly, we think that Ken himself may have been sitting the set out, and upon hearing the unique sound that McKendree has, decided to turn on the deck mid song, possibly mid-set, and we are grateful that he did. Livingston Taylor, brother of the more famous James Taylor, presents the same kind of acoustic music as his brother and often his voice sounds more like James than James does. It also gave us a bit of a mystery as well, and we are still unsure of whether this set is early, or early and late. It has a tape flip in the middle, and would appear to be otherwise complete, but seems rather lenthy for a mid act. Hopefully the complete late show will surface and shed a little more light on this in the future and solve the riddle. Jethro Tull already a prominent figure in the British rock scene, combining elements of classical music and progressive art rock together, gives a solid performance. And as seems to be the Capitol Theater trademark, is more free-form than other sets from this period, expanding on themes, soloing not only on flute, but giving the guitarist and drummer their space as well. Very nice, early song list, a must have for any fan of his. Rumor has it that during this set Ken was offered a large sum of money for the masters, but true to his word he turned it down. Again, these sets have not seen the light of day for thirty-some odd years, and while time may have taken a toll on the master tape, the sound is absolutely astounding. And this is only the early show...

Ken & Judy Lee present the Port Chester Resurrection Project as a loving tribute to Mark Cohen. A brother and friend to many in the community, his spirit lives on through the music.

notes from the taper:
Recorded from terrace Block A - right next to stage.
I was directly next to PA and subsequently was able to get a pretty "clean" recording.
Recorded using ZOOM H2 - Memory Card - PC - Adobe - Audacity - TLH
Once on my PC I put the raw file through Adobe Audition.
I then tracked using Audacity before converting to FLAC using TLH.
With a running time of 2 hours 45 mins I could not fit this onto 2 CDs.
Set 2 exceeded 82 mins and couldn't fit on 1 CD.
The CD split for Set 2 and Encore I have used is a suggestion.
There are no fades but just before Doctor My Eyes there were a few seconds of "silence" so the flow is not interupted.

When this was posted by our moderator erwe back in 2006, the exact date was unknown, but now we can now the date is actually the July 11, 1994. The pianist Kiva, who toured with them, did a diary of most of their performances, and she did with this one.

Here's the following info:
The first two songs “Mmm, mmm’ and ‘Afternoons…’ were for TV, then we paused and played a 45 minute set which again included the hits. I don’t like repeating songs.

It was, hands down, the highest temperature yet. All had sweat pouring down, my make-up running down my face. There was no air conditioning, there were heavy-duty TV lights plus regular stage lights, and the place was stuffed with people.

After putting on dry clothes, we were taken to ‘Seehaus’, a Bavarian restaurant where a large room was reserved for us with sixty guests. They presented us with gold awards for the album (the single is No. 1). We decided not to tell them that they misspelled the name of the album- “God Shuffled His Feed.”
