The 'Mix 1' Acetate From 1973
21. Rebel Rebel

A kind of "tribute" to Ronson CD. The first seven songs are from 04.10.71, and are in excellent sound quality. QUEEN BITCH appears twice because the first try is interrupted (excellent sound quality). WHITE LIGHT, WHITE HEAT is said to be an alternative mix of Ronsons version, but I can't tell the difference from the offically released version? BOMBERS to KOOKS are stripped demo versions, and the sound quality is so-so. REBEL REBEL is said to be an alternative mix, but to me it sounds like someone has just increased the volume of the "cow bell"? Anyway, this is a very nice compilation.

A very nice Japanese issue from the former DANCING HORSE label, now called SWITCH ON!.
The sound quality is excellent, and the songs are probably recorded from the original BBC tapes.
These tracks should have been on the never released BBC series Volume 2 & 3.

Notes (©1999 www.u2-flom.de): A (mostly) acoustic collection, but with some outstanding tracks that aren't easy to find. Personally, "Dancing Queen", "Springhill Mining Disaster", "Lucille", and "Lost Highway" are the highlights. Track 8 is listed as "Whiskey In The Jar". I'd strongly recommend picking this up, should you happen upon it. Even if you don't like it, it is strong trading material.

The music files are as I downloaded them, and they came without any actual info on how this was remastered. It does sound slightly nicer, though, with less tape hiss.

infos
These have been going around since January or February. I assumed someone would put them up here, but it hasn't happened so here you go. The full text that came with this is copied below (I've also included the original file), but I have some comments on that. First, "D Is For Dirty" is not an "Apple Of Sodom" demo - it's an unreleased song (like "Piss In The Wound" near the end of the tape) that was picked apart by Manson for several other songs, including "Apple Of Sodom." But don't expect anything close to a demo of that song. Second, the mp3s, for obvious reasons, are not included here. They've been online much longer and should be easy to find.

I also have the remastered version, which I can put up if there's interest.

Sound's pretty good, probably what you'd expect from mid-90s studio demos off an old tape. Samples are below.

Here's the original text file's info:
The music contained in this release is sourced from a TDK SA-90 cassette tape given to Scott Putesky (aka Daisy Berkowitz) by Marilyn Manson. In early 2013, Scott sold the tape to adamsribs, who passed it on to fellow Provider Module forum member Cringeon, who went on to rip and remaster the audio.

Several songs have different or additional lyrics when compared to the official album equivalents: Angel with the Scabbed Wings, Antichrist Superstar, Minute of Decay, Mister Superstar and The Beautiful People. Astonishing Panorama is very different from the official version. Piss in the Wound (originally Crippled Groom) is an unreleased song - not to be confused with the Dungeon Master/Teen Dabbler song. Irresponsible Hate Anthem is a full demo, as opposed to the 'development version' that was previously leaked. Likewise, the version of Antichrist Superstar here is previously unreleased, and is different from the version leaked to the internet recently. Tourniquet cuts off at 2:51. Little Horn is not on the cassette, despite being listed on the back. Scott plays guitar and wrote Wormboy Gets His Wings, Irresponsible Hate Anthem, Antichrist Superstar, Mr. Superstar, Man That You Fear, Tourniquet, Piss In The Wound, and Suicide Snowman. The unreleased tracks are part of what is known as the Spooky Kids catalog.

In addition to the tape, we have included some additional demos. One of the demos is Heaven on the Brain. Heaven on the Brain is musically related to the song Antichrist Superstar, this track was intended to be the intro for the eponymous album. Inspired by the Jesus Christ Superstar tune "Heaven On Their Minds" (original album recording features Stevie Ray Vaughn).

Notes
- tr. A1 : A 'test mix' by Visconti from late 1967 is totally acoustic / orchestral - and not at all 'rock' and a great seductive album opener;
- tr. A2 : '68 rewrite of 1967's Summer Kind Of Girl - Demos exist for both versions;
- tr. A3 : The song was originally registered with this title;
- tr. A4 : Performed by DB in his cabaret act and by Feathers in 1968;
- tr. A5 : Written in 1968, performed by DB as late as 1969;
- tr. A6 : DB Original that he demoed many times - the last demo probably from 1968;
- tr. A7 : Decca 1968 version;
- tr. B1 : The hand written title on the tape box for 'An Occasional Dream' demo;
- tr. B2 : Decca 1968 version;
- tr. B3 : Written and performed by DB / Feathers in late 1968;
- tr. B4 : Roger Bunn - Life Is A Circus (Bunn);
- tr. B5 : Scott Walker - Next (Brel); performed by Feathers in 1968;
- tr. B6 : Jess Conrad - Pussy Cat (Blackwell);
- tr. B7 : Pinky And The Fellas - Manchester And Liverpool (Popp, Marnay, Fishman); European theatre / Lindsay Kemp type number - English lyrics to 'Manchester Et Liverpool';

tr. B4 - B7 : These originals by other artists were the inspiration for Bowie to include them on a scheduled second album. Bowie's own versions of the last 3 songs plus the songs 'Angel Angel Grubby Face' and 'Going Down' intended for this album remain unreleased.

David Bowie - The Leon Suites (1. Outside Outtakes) (BOWSTAT018)

Suite 1: I Am With Name (22:09)
Suite 2: Leon Takes Us Outside (21:29)
Suite 3: Enemy Is Fragile (27:37)

Total time: 71:14

These demos were recorded and rejected by the record company in 1994.
The Leon Suites eventually turned into the 1. Outside album released in 1995.

Parts of the 3 suites have been available on earlier bootleg releases,
but all of them have been sourced from low bit rate MP3s.

This is the first release of the complete Leon Suit in a lossless version.

The source of this recording is a CDR provided by Adam Bedstroke (patdrome). A lot of thanks goes out to him for letting these demos be shared amongst fans.

Ok folks, this is a studio of collection of Jimi's work that you cannot be without!! 5CDs, all sourced from masters, 1st gen or 2nd gen. Most of it is 1st gen.

It truly is an unbelieveable collection of 1969 and 1970 studio sessions and the content, performance and sound will blow you away I know!! There is a lot of talk between Jimi, bandmates and the control room and all you have to do is listen to the Power of Soul Sessions on CD4 and the sound quality when the engineer speaks makes you feel like you are in the booth with him!

The title of the set is very apt as these really are Unsurpassed Masters of the man with the guitar!! trust me, you will enjoy this download no doubt about it. I have more great Hendrix goodies that I will upload over the near future. All sourced from low gen recordings!!

This particular set was put together by a Hendrix preservation group about 5 or 6 years ago.

"The first and last shows are excellent sound and picture. The middle two, the sound quality is excellent. The picture quality isn't as good but it is still really good."

Notes
Don Kirshner's was not "performed" in Australia. Rather it was shown on TV there and is the source for most, if not all copies, of that video. It was aired on a show called Nightmoves, I believe.

YCAWASM - ie Kirshner's - was recorded around June/July '76 as Joe's "farewell" to his solo career. Felder plays throughout and the guitar interplay between Walsh and Felder is amazing. The whole band is on fire - Willie Weeks and Andy Newmark, for example, had played on a ton of stuff together and were really at the top of their game at this time.
