Here is one I've been wanting to upload for a while, the complete show of another one mangled by the bootleggers.  This is the performance released as "Force Of Nature 2", however, "FON2" was missing the last 2 songs.  Most of the early Fitzgerald shows were taped by a guy that was a music reviewer for the paper in Pasadena, TX and friends with the folks at Fitzgerald's.  A close friend of mine who writes reviews for the paper in Victoria, TX befriended him years ago and got copies of a number of the Fitzgerald's shows he taped off his masters.  He supplied me a number of the tapes to transfer to CDR some time ago.

As I was transferring this show, which came to me on 3 x 90 minute tapes, I noticed at the end of the 2nd tape, after "Lenny" and with no break at all, Stevie Ray goes into "In The Open".  This made it clear that the "Force of Nature 2" bootleg was incomplete. On tape 2 "In The Open" cut off a few seconds into it so  I popped in the tape 3 and there was the rest of "In The Open" plus a closing instrumental improv that I think is loosly based around "Lenny".

Here is were there was a bit of a problem (or rather the challenge), where "In The Open" cut off on the 2nd tape, it started in progress on the 3rd tape but there was a bit of overlap.  In addition the start of the 3rd tape sounded like it was slightly crinkled at the start, I don't know if this came from the master or in the transfer.  This is just slightly noticeable right after the splice of putting the two together, I had to edit out about 10 seconds at the start to make the transition smooth so no music was missing and no music was overlapping, after about 30 tries at this edit I think I got the transition right.  I've put a sample of the splice below.

On the actual CD's I have left the recording exactly as it came to me, so the start of "In The Open" is actually at the end of Track 3 after "Lenny", again there is no breaks or edits between "Lenny" and "In The Open" and Track 4 is "In The Open" in progres and as stated above.

I have not done any eq'ing at all, this is a straight 1st generation to CDR transfer.

The bootleggers may have either not had the 3rd tape available or chose to leave off the 2 songs so the show would fit on 2CD's, with the added 2 songs it takes 3 CD's to capture the complete show without cutting any tracks.
