Pat Metheny Unity Band - 2013-06-07 - Belo Horizonte, MG, BR (AUD/FLAC)

Lineage:

2nd Encore:

17 - Pat acoustic solo medley (including 6/8 Minuano, ?, This is not America)

Running time: 2h 16 min

This is a CD ready version from the gig capture. Along with the fade in and out in the very beginning and end, respectively, the applauses in between tracks have been normalized - 8db for a more comfortable listening experience.

It was an astounding gig, with a mostly respectful and enthusiastic audience full of Minas Gerais music luminaries such as Toninho Horta, Túlio Mourão and many others, I am sure. An exceptional combo, full of pure musical energy and feeling that I am glad I had the opportunity of watching/listening live, and which brings me great joy to have the chance for sharing it here.

The recording sound is very good to excellent (within my rig's capabilities and considering the not ideal spot it was recorded from) and audience intrusion is minimal, captured in a house with state of the art acoustics. Samples are available.

Notes:
This is one of my 400+ Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson concerts and Radio shows. I have not recorded it by myself. It's a rip from a 2 CD-R release "Summer of '74". The Boot includes the complete performance of Jethro Tull's first show of the 1974 Japan Tour. For such an old recording the sound quality is really very good. It sounds very clear and is very enjoyable (imho).
Jethro Tull were very loud and energetic in these old days. The Boot captures this very well.

Comments from oneverybootleg.nl:
This is the real San Antonio recording in contrary to all other bootlegs that are called "San Antonio" and are actually featuring the Houston 1985 recording.
Amazing soundboard recording! Taken from the bootleg "Secrets in the closet". When I bought this bootleg, I was almost sure that it would be just another copy of the famous Houston show from 17th August 1985. But to my big surprise, it sounded a bit different and I could not directly figure out from which recording date this recording was. The back cover of the CD said it was recorded in San Antonio, 16th August 1985. But since I never heard that recording before, I just could not believe it. And then, at the beginning of Walk of life, it is Mark Knopfler himself who is revealing the mystery: "This is where San Antonio is doing the walk, alright." And, at the end of Brothers in arms Mark says: "Thank you San Antonio, thank you!". Amazing! This is the real San Antonio recording in contrary to all other bootlegs that are called "San Antonio" and are actually featuring the Houston recording. For those who still have any doubt, I have attached a small MP3-sample here. Great sound, great versions and complete show!

***Neonknight's Notes***
An enjoyable early DSOTM concert from the usual recorder but using a new source to the general community. "Oh God" exclaims a member of the audience as CWTAE commences. As one who never tires of listening to that particular song I can entirely see what he means!

***Littlepieces' Mastering Notes***
This is a mono recording that was processed as two channel stereo. It has a phase shift that varies some but is generally about 2-5 samples. Both channels were retained and manually aligned to improve the phasing.

I improved the damaged segment near the beginning of Breathe by using the best part of each channel and repaired a dropout near the end of the song. Smoothed the fade out/fade in of The Mortality Sequence to Money and repaired a dropout in Money. Removed 13s repeated segment at beginning of U&T and spliced. Repaired noise at track change to BD and smoothed probable tape change and level drop during BD by using the best part of each channel.

I removed dead air from fade out/fade in near beginning of OoTD that is on all versions. Increased the gain of left channel on CWTAE 1.5db. Replaced the left channel with the right channel on Echoes as the left was 3.5-4db lower and of lower quality. About 5s into Echoes, you can hear the SQ change and signal drop after 6k - this seems to be on all versions. Removed dead air from fade out/fade in at ~15:22m into Echoes. I noted that before Echoes cuts that it has about 15s more content than the R&D source. I increased the gain of left channel 1.5-2.1db on SoS.

The speed of the first set was close enough most of the time and so I decided not to subject it to a SpC/resample. The second set was off a bit more and adjustments from 98.25 to 101.30 were made.

Heres another cool DVD collection, this time its The Go-Go's on TV in the 1980's. and the Prime Time retail video from 1984. This collection is made up of all the videos i have of the Go-Go's from the 80's, the quality is pretty good and where it needed it i cleaned up the audio. The Urgh! clip is from my SVHS copy i taped off Sky TV a couple of years ago and is excellent. This is yet another great addition to everyones Punk Rock DVD library...Fully authored as usual

This is a PAL DVD ISO Image File: You can use lots of burning software to burn it or use Winrar to extract the VIDEO_TS folder if you prefer.

On the 40th anniversary of the show, JEMS is pleased to present a fresh 2016 transfer of our master audience recording of East Lansing, April 4, 1976, the first time the show has been released direct from the master cassettes, in 16/44 and 24/96 editions.

There is but one audience recording of this show, made by our own Tapeboy, and released many times before on titles like Livin’ Rock ‘n’ Roll, Hidden Worlds That Shine and EV2’s Rise Like The Rain. The new transfer renders all previous versions obsolete, offering what to our ears is a material upgrade of fuller, richer and more natural sound, especially in the bass and vocals. It has a clarity and depth previous incarnations lack. Samples provided.

There are moments so clear in fact that you can hear the shutter on Tapeboy’s camera clicking as he shot rolls of color and black and white film. All his photos from the show are included here as well.

As for the show, it too is a gem. It’s well known as being one of the few period concerts to feature performances of all eight songs from Born To Run, including a full-band “Meeting Across The River.” If that wasn’t enough, it is also notable for including the second known recording of “Frankie,” performed here in a magical version that I’ve played hundreds of times since I first got a copy of this show on cassette.

It’s a long show, too, at 18 songs, among them fine versions of “Saint In The City,” “Growin’ Up” and a regional nod in the form of the “Detroit Medley.”

Tapeboy sent along his recollections:

“This was my third time seeing Bruce and my first time successfully getting my recorder into the show. It is arguably my best recording set up as well: the Sony 153SD cassette deck and Advent dynamic stereo mics. I also got my camera and a couple of lenses in...ahh...those were the days.

MSU Auditorium was (is?) a gymnasium-type place with a U-shaped, single-level balcony surrounding the seats set up on the floor, where we were in the 11th row. This show featured all of Born To Run in an era before full-album shows. It was also the first time I'd heard Bruce play 'It's My Life', 'Raise Your Hand' and the brand new 'Frankie,' which featured Bruce on cowbell and pointed in a songwriting direction away from the sound of Born To Run.

'It's My Life' was stunning, virtually unrecognizable until the chorus, and prompting a standing ovation midway through the song as the band completed the first chorus. Despite Bruce saying on the current River tour that 'Independence Day' was his first song about fathers and sons (and what about 'Adam Raised A Cain'?), clearly the spoken beginning of 'It's My Life' is where he first visited this theme.

We left the show knowing we'd seen a great one, and thinking that a new album must be just around the corner; it was unimaginable that Darkness was still over 2 years away!”

Applause goes to Tapeboy for his outstanding original recording and for pulling out the masters one last time to capture them at 24/96 and master this one for the ages. Thanks yet again to mjk5510 who continues to shore up the fulfillment end of the JEMS process. We couldn’t do it without him.

30 years exactly today, Marillion and supporter Peter Hammill played Edinburgh Playhouse in the middle of the UK tour supporting their debut album "Script For A Jester´s Tear". Now the band has 15+ studio records and probably a hundred live albums in the catalogue.

This gig saw the debut of Grendel in the 1983 tour. That track was played for a total of 5 times in 1983, then never again as a band effort. I heard bits and pieces of Grendel during soundchecks but never as full song. one track was officially released so it is omitted from this torrent. Peter Hammill set was very powerful. Reports said that he was often booed by Marillion fans during his set which is a kind of weird considering that Hammill and VDGG ave been the main influences on Fish...
