The incredible Finjan Club tape belongs in every collection. Period. This particular CD release is the one to own. Few if any other releases of Finjan can compare to this gem. Some of the other releases have edited out the in between song talking, mistakes, and false starts (which sometimes seem as long as the songs themselves). Nothing is edited here. The CD captures the moment the recorder was turned on and left to run. This has always been a nice quality soundboard recording, but Yellow Dog has brought it to pure perfection. The audience is pin drop quiet. So much so that this could be a studio recording. The tape is so clean that several times you can hear the guitar case snaps etc. when the stage hand opens it to retrieve harmonicas and a capo. Turn up the stereo, and suddenly Dylan is in the room with you. Quality - 9½ of 10 stars.

An Eddie Edwards production.
From Eddie: "The work I did on the recording was to balance the channels, speed-correct the portion from GTC to WLL and remove any obvious unwanted clicks, pops and other noises. I did not apply any EQ, noise reduction or anything like that."

Immigrant Song drop-out patched by jameskg.

This is higher quality and more complete than "Peter's PA".
This is the best quality, most complete version of this show available to date.

This is one of Robert Plant's best performances.

TMP notes that this may be the first recording of Celebration Day played live, maybe even the first time played live.

Black Dog is exceptionally good on this night (both Jimmy & Robert are on fire)

Robert doesn't quite yet know the order of the verses in Stairway.

Points of this release that are of note:
1) Much less hiss. Better transfer.
2) SIBLY is complete, for the first time.
3) Speed corrected & balanced out by Eddie Edwards

First off a big thanks to Roughcut for giving us this 3rd recorder from his 1st gen tapes. I took the liberty after listening to this to fix it up for myself and figured I'd share my little bit of work. For those of you that don't know, this tape ran a little slow and had tape flips and a few other anomolies. All I did to this was a minor speed/pitch correction which I think turned out very good and I re-indexed it. There were also a couple of tape flips that I was able to repair in a way where the music is seemless even though the sound quality changes a little bit due to the flip. Overall I am very happy with the outcome and it's much more fluent to listen to and hopefully you will think so as well. Absolutely no music is lost here. The fades between some tracks was a result of the taper doing this when he made Roughcut's 1st gens.

I did not want to get into a discussion about the validity of Echoes being from this date, the 12th, or from some completely other date. I will say that all of this recorder ran slow at the same amount but Echoes seemed to be perfect speed and pitch the way it was, I did nothing to it. Take that bit of info and do with it what you will.

Time: 95m (audio) / 76m (video)

Personal note:
A great show in near perfect quality (audio). This was at the benefit festival for Greenpeace: "Soundwaves for Greenpeace". Some of the best classic Cure songs are played and the show is very energetic. 'Pornography' sends shivers down your spine. Robert's hair was at its best these days ;)

AUDIO: Near perfect. One of the better audience recordings I have. Full show (besides the 'Relax'- intro)
VIDEO: Definitely a VHS rip. Quality is pretty good for an old VHS tape.
The audio is a bit distorted on the low notes, but good to listen to.
The vocals are very clear.
Sadly the last 2 songs (the best of the show) are missing.
Also 'Shake Dog Shake/Play for Today/A Strange Day/A Forest' are cut.
The perfect audio-version makes up for that. According to this was shot with a 'Ferguson' camera. All songs are chaptered.

"Filmed from the Pit 10 meters from stage. Extreme close-ups and good sound (OK, it's not a 3rd eye with DAT but very enjoyable).

A Review borrowed from the Telegraph by Helen Brown
"Sir Paul McCartney rocks the Electric proms"
Sir Paul McCartney bound onto the stage at the BBC's second "Electric proms" last night and was all bounce, wave, howl and banter. "Do you think he'll do any Beatles stuff?", the man in front of me asked his friend over the roar of welcome from the Camden crowd. We have only seconds to wait for an answer: McCartney burst into a technicolour blast of Magical mystery tour, beckoning the jubilant audience to enjoy the ride as he took us through some of the high points of his 40 year career in rock'n'roll. Bravely acknowledging that most of his finest and best loved songs were written in his Fab Four days, McCartney's set alternates energetic Beatles' songs (Eleanor Rigby, I saw her standing there, Blackbird and a rollicking Back in the USSR) with solo and wings numbers. Exchanging his old golden bass for a jaunty mandolin, the first solo-era tune of the night is Dance tonight - the first single from McCartney's latest album Memory almost full. Playlisted on drivetime radio, the chipper melody can grate, especially the whistled part, but strummed here it has the warmhearted feel of an old-time pub singalong. McCartney's voice has weathered incredibly well - the eyebrows shoot up in concentration and emotion as he hits the high notes, but they always did. And as the brows lift, the knees bend and the singer balances on his toes, drawing attention to the fact his cavern-club era suit is accessorised with a pair of trendy white-heeled trainers.
There's a matey amount of audience interaction between songs. "Two women from California love you", Sir Paul reads, squinting at a sign held up about five rows back. "Only two?" he quips. "Oh dear". Introducing "an old song" I'll follow the sun, he chides the instant cheers saying: "Don't cheer it just because its old!"
He clearly wants to be judged on merit and durability rather than for his nostalgia value.
But he's a sentimental old hippy himself. Singing a ballad addressed to John Lennon, he openly declares his love for his former bandmate, while acknowledging: "If you were here today, you'd probably laugh".
He doesn't openly declare anything about his current personal problems, although in one new song, That was me, he expresses the disconcerting speed at which his life has been travelling. "That was me at the altar, in those pictures".
Despite all the Beatles anthems with which he ends the show - Hey Jude, Let it be and Get back - it's McCartney's Bond theme Live and let die, which the punters are humming as they head back out into the rain.
Yowling and hammering the piano keys for all he was worth as fireworks banged and fizzed above the stage, the 80s drama of the song really seemed to fire something in McCartney, who left the stage clutching bunches of red roses and a stuffed, white Bond villain cat. Bouncing and waving.

From The PKP Vaults : Master Tape VHS PAL 85 minutes
In 1981 Siouxsie gave a great concert at the Paradiso. It was filmed for the Amsterdam Pirate TV Station PKP with a portable VHS. They went to the Paradiso in the afternoon during the soundcheck, and it was the guitar player John McGeoch who talked to them and gave permission to film the concert that evening. They filmed from he balcony, and even though it is of course VHS quality from the eighties, it is stil quite enjoyable to watch. The follow spot on Siouxsie shines a little too bright at times but her dancing is great. Plus the concert ends in my favourite song: Helter Skelter. After the concert they were allowed an interview, but the interviewer ( I forgot his name ) was a little intimidated by Siouxsie so could not really come up with any sensible questions, which resulted in Siouxsie getting slightly obnoxious, dipping our microphone in a glass of water and making fun of the interviewer and the cameraman. It's all a little uncomfortable, but I included it anyway, cause it is a rare oppotunity to see old footage of siouxsie talking. PKP broadcasted several songs of the show later that summer, and somehow a copy of this VHS tape came into circulation, and the audio has also been ripped as a bootleg. This however is the best possible copy I could make from the original Master tape, which never left my house since 1981. Do not expect BBC broadcast quality. It is grainy and noisy VHS, but the best we had back in '81.
