Notes: 
This show came to me several years ago on DAT labeled as a "DSBD" - while it is certainly "SBD quality", I am fairly certain that it actually is sourced from the in-house FM signal that typically was used at many GD shows during the mid-80's through early 90's (typically broadcast on 99.9 FM from the soundboard to provide a sound feed to repeater speakers). The wave pattern has the dynamic range typically found on FM recordings. It definitely appears to have been mastered on DAT due to the lack of breaks at typical tape flip locations and also due to the lack of any analog anomalies. The record levels were highly variable on my DAT clone and I used Sound Forge (v. 6.0) to normalize as needed to even things out, as well as to remove a small handful of pops and clicks, fade in/out as needed etc... 

48>44.1kHz resample done with SoundForge (v. 6.0) using high (4) interpolation accuracy and applying an anti-alias filter. 
Sector boundaries verified with shntool (v.1.01)

ALD (assisted listening device) soundboard recordings are usually knocked for their "thin" sound quality (high amount of treble, not enough bass), but I don't think that's a real issue here at all. As such, Jim's files have been unaltered for sound quality (i.e., no EQ performed)--if some of you prefer to have more bass in your ALD recordings, I'll let you do your own EQ work since it then becomes a matter of personal taste. As for me, I think the show sounds great, as-is.

Free concert and open air, part of the Samsung Best of Blues Festival. My biggest motivation to go in this show was to see Marco Minnemann and not Joe Satrini, who belongs to a musical segment of "Guitar Heroes" that I have several restrictions. It's a lot of solo for little and few melodic melodies. After four or five songs, for me everything seems very similar and boring. But this is my opinion and I know there are legions of fans for this type of music.

As much as I have tried to position myself well towards one of the PAs, the audio quality is just regular. Although in the first 15 minutes it was really bad and from there, it improves considerably. But my dissatisfaction has a reason: although it makes recordings since 2012 this is the first show open air that I record. I hope you like some, at least.

We had virtually the whole of Joe's new album "Unstoppable Momentum" with his amazing new band. I thought I was going to really miss Stu Hamm but Marco's incredible drumming more than made up for his absence. Mike Keneally really added some great touches to some of the older songs and of course, Joe was perfection personified.
