Notes:
1983... The year when ex-Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan joined forces with the almighty Black Sabbath. The result was the outstanding "Born Again" album, well maybe not outstanding but a unique and desireable product.

Released in 1992 in Italy. These recordings are taken from mint condition pre-boradcast-LP's of the US Radio Program "Captured Live". The sound quality is stellar! No one should miss the chance to hear Sabbath layin' down the legendary "Smoke On The Water". Wow!! This is the definitive version of the famous show.

Comments:
Sometime in the early days of Dime, I converted my DAT recording (acquired in trade, so I don't know the lineage) of Jimmy Page & Robert Plant's Boston show from the "Walking Into Clarksdale" tour. Very little is known in terms of the origins of this recording -- rumors were that this is an in-house Assistive Listening Device (ALD) broadcast that was used at Great Woods around this time, and this is borne out by the fact that there are several other "soundboards" of similar fidelity floating around from this period by other bands. Apparently it made the rounds online and one industrious downloader ("caddy72") discovered that the sound quality could be dramatically improved by reversing the polarity of one of the channels. I personally don't have a clue what this means in technical terms, but apparently it's a common phenomenon with many ALD recordings that the polarity is somehow reversed in the process of broadcast.

Notes:
"Backdoor Angels" is just one title of various bootlegs of this show, which is also known as "Days Of Giving", "Bricks On The Road" or "Los Angeles 1976". There are some differences in the cutting of the tracks and most of the track listings on the covers are incorrect for many versions and none of them are cleaned up like this one. This version was taken from the "Backdoor Angels" version and I made some edits to the audio - 1) balanced the left/right channels; 2) boosted the overall sound levels about 2dbs; 3) fixed at least 15 drops/clicks/dead silence spots; and 4) properly tracked the tunes. There is no gap between CD1 and CD2 (ie. no fade). The track listing is correct now was well. This is a minor to moderate upgrade but an upgrade none the less. If you like shows properly tracked and all the annoyances gone, then get it, its worth it. I re-titled it only slightly to differentiate it. None of the other versions are on the DIME tracker right now. I included the artwork I got with it and it might be partially useful. I wish I had the talent to fix the art as well but alas, someone else might like to take a stab at that.

One of the few circulating S&M soundboard recordings and already available on quite a number of different bootleg versions. Here the set list is seamless apart from the fade in of SOTW.
The sound is optimized for Beyerdynamics headphones and represents my listening preference; so it individually may vary when listening with other sound devices.

Both Lohmann and Losin give this as an "audience recording," but that is clearly not the case. A frequency analysis suggests a soundboard source and not an FM broadcast. This has been issued as a bootleg titled "Social Music," however it is unclear whether this particular set, received on DAT, came from that bootleg release.

Enlight note:
Perfect soundboard recording, featuring the complete "Romeo & Juliet" version, and "The Long Highway" and "Going Home" from this date ,so NOT! added from Vaison-la-romaine Aug. 8 1996.

Very long performance of Sultans of Swing .
Nice versions of Darling Pretty, Golden Heart and Money For Nothing (POWERFULL DRUM).

The audience singing - Ole Ole Ole - and the band playing a accompaniament for this and Mark Plays a stunning solo over it.

When you compare this "Going Home" version with e.g. Vaison 96 , you can hear the echo-delay set in Mark's guitar sound before he starts playing the melody line. this is a very, very powerfull 1996 version.

This is an excellent-sounding soundboard audio from early 1989. There's a lot of reverb on Chris' voice and his guitar doesn't seemed to be mixed all that loudly, but Kim comes through loud (and I mean LOUD) and clear. This is a fantastic show with TONS of energy and Soundgarden at the top of their game. Highly recommended.

Comments:
I ran across this one tonight on an archive spindle and since the other '81 board postings I've shared today were well-received, I thought I'd put this up too. I downloaded this from Dime in October 2005 courtesy of Dime user "snapps".

This seems to be a pretty good performance, though honestly I have a hard time telling the 1981 shows apart. Most of these shows were relatively stagnant in terms of setlist, but the performances were generally high-energy though (in my opinion) kind of sloppy. I'm not a fan of Mick's vocals on this tour, but the setlists were great. This tour certainly helped to establish their reputation as one of the best live acts around, and one of the top acts of their generation. One item of note -- "Down the Road Apiece" replaces "Twenty Flight Rock" in the setlist, and is great.

Sound quality is very good overall, with very lively high end and excellent presence on the vocals. I have no idea how this one may compare with other releases, but hopefully this will fill a gap for some collectors.

If you are a Stones fan, chances are you already know what you'll find here -- a mix of newer songs and deep tracks in the first hour, followed by Keith's mini-set (on this tour, only one song) and a greatest-hits selection to close the show. I haven't listened to this one in depth, so perhaps others can comment on how this performance compares to other nearby dates on the tour. It recently dropped off the tracker after its most recent (2011) posting, so I thought I'd toss this up during the free-leech period for the voracious Stones collectors who don't have it.

I received this show on a vhs tape back in 2003. This was recorded directly from the live feed broadcasted on the big screens inside the venue and is directed by swiss tv. The audio was extracted from that videotape, it is soundboard recording which is not the case for the torrent you mentioned.

Notes:
This version is from the re-broadcast of the show. This version of the show is directly from my master VHS. It shows some small wear, but nothing really disturbing. A trader friend who downloaded my 2 disc PAL version of this, asked if he could do a NTSC rip of the original PAL tape, so he borrowed my tape to do it. This is the result of that. The rip as it is here is absolutely the best that can be done with the source available.
