Not quite a perfect sbd - levels fade in and out a little in places, but a damn fine show. If you like your Van mean, moody and magnificent, this aint the one for that, this is Van at his funky soulful in your face best. He declares to the band at the end of burning ground 'Keep the level low my voice has gone' but you wont notice as he nails every song. The band is spot on, you will love this boot. Its not the complete show - you make me feel so free and sweet thing were played at the start but not included here

Review by Jon Strand:
Soundboard recording with great separation between voices and the various instruments.

Van and everyone are in great voice (I have never heard Brian Kennedy stronger and more soulful. Actually, I've never connected Brian Kennedy with "soulful" before, but it's certainly true here.)

The horns play wonderfully throughout, both on solos and ensemble work. The whole band is very tight (and loose.) Very "on:" Van calling out the song titles to the band. Dedicating "That's Life" to Frank Sinatra ("lest we forget.") "Whenever God Shines His Light" becomes "Whenever (Sir) Cliff Shines His Light." Great intro to "Man's World."

This is one of the live CDs that make you keep looking for others out there. A great performance, well captured.

If you have Nights Of The Living Icons, you can hear the same performance of "Fire In The Belly," but from the audience point of view.

"From the taper himself we have the following description of the recording:

'Mostly Selling England material, it was recorded on a Sony TC-150 reel to reel with Shure mics. I am pretty sure I was seen by Hackett at least as I was sitting on the floor stage center about 30 feet back, the mics were on a small gooseneck. However, the Sony had a switch to turn off its internal speaker and I had forgotten to turn it off, this means you get some annoying feedback, not loud, but audible in very quite passages, most notably when Gabriel talks (as he does at length) between tracks.”

“A 50 minute section of my tape was released as the bootleg album 'Awed Man Out' where it claims to be 'live in Canada'. I have absolutely no idea who did this, certainly wasn't me, I gave a dub to a couple of people.....However I have now placed the original onto CDR some time ago, just raw as is.'

It was this raw CD material that we used for this project. As described, this show has a recurrent feedback that was most audible during the dialogue and quiet sections. Using a subtraction technique, this feedback was reduced -though not completely removed- as well as possible. Actually, there were two distinct feedback profiles found and reduced where found. Hiss and other noises were also present and required multiple techniques to be brought under control. A few gaps were present and needed patching. One patch came from this recording as a recurrent section of music was used to patch another. The bass components were out of line and required some re-working. Sub-bass was boosted while high bass was attenuated. This compensated for the room acoustics and produced a more natural sound. A slight midrange adjustment was also implemented. Some peak crackle was present that needed smoothing after which dynamics of the show were adjusted. Finally, a consistent but gradually changing speed error was identified and corrected for each disc. The result is a fine example of early 1974 Genesis."

A nice 1996 show. A bit to much WMS songs for me, but hey, it was the WMS tour  They play a lot of great oldies. 'Forever' builds up very slow to a very wild climax. Intense version of 'Drowning man' with some lyric improvisations. Sadly no songs from the 'Pornography' album. but a great version of 'Want' and 'The Kiss' make up for that.

Notes from Remasters Workshop:
This show was rescued from a failing hard drive full of recordings I hadn't got around to for several years. And what a find it was! If you like Steve Miller, you are going to like these performances. I found this on Usenet, apparently not long after its initial appearance via other venues. It's been in storage ever since.

The recording was pitch, phase and level corrected in Audition 3, and retracked in CD Wave. EQ brightening was added to one track that was spliced in from a different source, to match the sound of the rest of the music.

Many thanks to the people who liberated the show - and to twofthrs at Dime - your efforts are appreciated! This is my humble attempt to keep your work accessible, because you don't find stuff like this every day, and it needs to be heard.

2012 Notes: Used judiciously, sound enhancement software can be used to great benefit. In this case, the BBE Sonic Maximizer was applied to the original cassette sound, which was quite dull. While not every type of sound benefits from BBE, it seems to be very effective on cassette sound. The result is like taking the blanket off the speakers, in a way that does not sound processed or artificial. This recording gained a whole new level of listenability. To illustrate the difference, an mp3 demo has been included, which switches back and forth between no effect and BBE, to show why the whole show redone this way was preferable to the existing recording. (Please do not add this to your disc!)

"A rip from the 'Alive Out There Tonight' boot album. It sounds like it's from a board tape versus FM. Seems like someone is dialing up Hamilton's bass during 'Seasons Of Wither' as you might hear on a board tape, but who knows. The band was broadcasting many of its shows around this time, though I have never seen an FM of this.

This tape is a fun listen, nice quality (though not pristine). A lot of people complain about 1978 Aero, saying they played poor and were drugged out. While the latter may be true, to me the band is at its best here...rocking and funky...listen to Brad and Joe's twin guitars as the end of 'Sweet Emotion.'"

notes by whotrader:
Finally, my first KW show and the boys did not disappoint. Performing at one of the finest venues in Denver, I thought the sound was superb. And the crowd was about as quiet and polite as you could possible expect a Denver crowd to be. The recording came out nice, I was in the second row in the balcony - almost center. Unfortunately, I did pick up a little cell phone static near the end of the show, but I was able to clean it up quite a bit. When you record a nice, clean show like this, it really highlights the limitations of your personal recording equipment. Sample included.

Oh and here's a review and pictures. Not the most glowing review, but not written by a fan either.

To put it simply, the sound quality of the sound check party is great but the one of the concert is not that great.
Surrounded by a group of sea-lion whose brains must have been permanently damaged by the Beatles music could not help barking at the site of their life-long idol, it was extremely difficult to make an even decent recording at the show. Recording right next to this big guy who constantly made a series of unpleasant barking or moaning sounds, this recoding is not suitable to listen with headphones….We decided to let the uploader share this one because too many people asked him to do so….

Source Notes:
Let It Be was originally conceived as a TV documentary and was thus shot in 4:3 on 16mm stock. Later the decision was made to format it into a feature film, necessitating a pan-and-scan transfer of the 16mm film to a widescreen 35mm frame. The original 4:3 version was then left largely unseen by the public, with most broadcasters opting for the widescreen version or the shrunken 4:3 version released on laserdisc. Previously we presented the widescreen theatrical version of the film with a new stereo soundtrack. Here we offer the original uncropped 16mm version from a very high quality German print. The extra picture at the top and bottom gives the film a different feel - more like a documentary and less like a theatrical feature. This version is totally different to the grainy, heavily cropped print released on vhs and laserdisc in 1981, and includes the same remastered stereo soundtrack as the widescreen version. An additional feature has been added in the form of optional captions which provide the exact date for each scene

A scant few subtitles in German originally marred this print. Here they have been seamlessly removed, providing fans with the first ever opportunity to watch this unique movie in uninterrupted high quality vision and sound. Audio and video restoration by Hobnail. This DVD was produced and released for free, so don’t sell it! Should The Beatles ever release the LET IT BE film in any official capacity, please support the artists and filmmakers and buy the official product. Produced in 2011. NTSC Region free. Thanks to Roger & Hob

Added Notes (from Hob)
There have been some slight extra changes made to this version, mainly the fixing of dodgy synch from the original film. A couple of bits come to mind, such as Mal Evan's anvil banging in Maxwell's Silver Hammer and parts of John's vocal on Dig It, but there were also out-of-synch moments in a lot of other songs. It should be pointed out that many (or even most) of the cutaways and closeups come from different takes or, worse still, completely different songs. So you can't really expect these sorts of shots will ever look right. In such cases I just left them as they are. I also fixed the ending of Two Of Us which previously switched to mono. I'd overlooked the fact that the stereo ending can be found on one of the Naked promo videos. The resynched audio is based partly upon work I originally did for Unsurpassed Promos disc 4. I was then pointed in the direction of a cd compiled by HenryTheHorse which uses the Nagras to reconstruct the movie soundtrack. This saved me all the trouble of identifying and locating all the scores of different fragments used in the first half of the film which, in all honesty, I would not have had the knowledge to do. Unfortunately his cd was not synched to the film images, so that meant a hellish night spent aligning it to the optical soundtrack. A couple of bits (= One After 909 and I Me Mine) sounded better on the optical soundtrack to me so I didn't use those. In doing so I innadvertantly cut out a four letter word from George at the start of I Me Mine... here expletive in question has been restored to its rightful place in the proceedings... The optical soundtrack used here is actually from the BBC broadcast, which sounded noticeably better than the German one.

A few notes: the content of this DVD is made up of 3 MPEG files that were NOT captured by me, but I had them on my PC. I can't remember where I got them, probably in a trade and/or downloaded. The Sonding Out show has a couple of 1-second freezes and/or pixelation. These artifacts were on the MPEGs as I got them. I opted not to cut those frames out, but in retrospect maybe I should have. They really don't detract from this otherwise excellent cmplete version (the best I've seen of this show). It appears that this was a rebroadcast maybe from late 2006 or early 2007.
