Prof sez:
A great recording, for the first time with complete line-age. Sadly, this is not complete, unlike other versions circulating. But as far as I know, this is the first digitally recorded FM version, so it should be an upgrade.

This was show was banned here before on dime, because of the track "Wake Up and Live": which has been officially released. That track was not included in this re-broadcast. To my best knowledge and reseach, nothing here has been officially release.

The Vara did a truly great job in recording and mixing this. Just love that big bass sound that only reggae bassists seem to have. The trackorder is probably not chronicle, as it is very different from the trackorder of the bootleg w/ the complete version. But I left everything as is. Just raised the volume a bit.

I recorded this at someone else's house from the FM cable, using my own tuner and digital recorder. I had the hardest time finding the right radio frequency, because the radio station I tried to find on the cable is on a different frequency in my own town. I started searching half an hour before the broadcast. But as time went by, I could not find what I was looking for. Then miracleously, I found the right frequency just 10 seconds before the concert started ! Pheeeew....

Willie Nelson - 1978-04-xx - Lake Tahoe, NV (FM/FLAC)

(FM Broadcast FLAC)

Harrah's Casino

This is an absolutely fabulous Willie Nelson & Family recording from April, 1978 at Lake Tahoe's Harrah's Casino. As you can see, this is a master FM broadcast recording by D&D, and transferred by JEMS. (This is D & D Archives Master Series Volume 23.) There are a few issues right at the beginning of the recording but it clears up quickly and does not recur. As you can see, this is the (or at least a) "classic" Family lineup playing an absolutely killer setlist, at least in my not particularly humble opinion.

I have a note here indicating that "…this was a multi-show stand, and some performances were used on the "Willie And Family Live 2-lp set, but none of these performances specific to the torrent are on it, I compared them having the LP…"

My wife lumps Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Tom Waits and others who can't really seem to sing on key/don't have "pretty" voices (whateverthehell that means! HA!). In any event, this definitely would not be one for her ears.

Source/lineage (in red):

"Over The Air FM Broadcast

"1st gen reel>Wav(96/24)>Wav(44.1/16)>flac
"Transfer: 1st gen reel>Revox A77>Wavelab 96/24"

MD5, ffp and the original text file included. I have not included this intro as I made only minor alterations to the original text file (which remains unchanged) to create this intro. All of the music and info files come to you exactly as they came to me.

One more thing: Please note that I am, as always, simply the messenger. All thanks go to wildbluesage, D&D, JEMS, and, of course, the musicians and technicians. A very humble "thank you!" from Luckymudster to one and all.

Notes by the taper:
- i would like to dedicate this release to a very special person in my life: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
- Also thank you BIG time to "rockphantom" for persistently encouraging me to make the trek to Las Vegas for a once in a lifetime REAL Guns N' Roses experience!
- first official GN'R Re-union show with "The Big 3": Slash, Axl, Duff [they did a little warm-up gig in the Troubadour on April 01, 2016 though]
- i could witness a ~50min very nice GN'R rehearsal during the VIP party right before the show: Wish You Were Here, Layla, November Rain, Knockin' On a Heaven's Door, Welcome to the Jungle and There was a time [with Axl being on stage in an normal wheelchair -sometimes on crunches- and he was singing!)
- Axl had injured his leg and was confined to David Grohl's 2015 live performance throne.
- During the band introduction Axl refers to Slash: "And i think you know this guy: I don't know what it is, but it's weird and it's pissed off and it calls it so SLASH!" - which are about the exact same introduction words from the famous Ritz'88 show!
- Before "Theme from The Godfather" Slash gets an extra introduction from Axl: "And a man who needs no introduction but gets one anyway....ladies and gentlemen: Slash!!!"
- first time Slash played on Axl's songs: 05) Chinese Democracy, 12) This I Love, 20) Intro/Better
- "Coma" = first time live since April 10, 1993
- "Better" has a dark new intro
- It was very nice meeting all the fans from all(!) around the world, I really enjoyed it!
- complete audience recording (no cuts)
- nice dynamics!
- no SBEs on here
- MD5 and FLAC fingerprints included
- FLAC fingerprints included

Frank Zappa - 1969-06-06 - London, UK (SBD/FLAC)

(Soundboard FLAC)

6-Jun 1969, Royal Albert Hall, London, England
50 min, SBD, B+/B

Uncle Meat, Drum Duet, Some Ballet Music, Improvisation, Big Leg Emma, The String Quartet Intro, A Pound For A Brown, Sleeping In A Jar, Interlude

Lineage: SBD reel (probably 2nd gen)->CDR->EAC->SoundForge (speed correction, re-tracking)->FLAC Frontend

From this legendary show, we have this 50 min board - unfortunately it's a rather bad board, even on this low-gen recording. SA/FA doesn't look very good, but as should be obvious from the amount of hiss, no NR has been applied.

01 Uncle Meat (3:23)
02 Drum Duet (1:37)
03 Some Ballet Music (4:57)
04 Improvisation (6:53)
05 Big Leg Emma (2:35)
06 String Quartet Intro (6:40)
07 A Pound For A Brown (6:10)
08 Sleeping In A Jar (14:18)
09 Interlude (3:43)

Eric Clapton - 2004-04-17 - Copenhagen, DK (AUD/FLAC) "God’s Favorite" by Tarantura

07 - Got My Mojo Working

God’s Favorite from Tarantura features the last show before a brief break during Clapton’s European tour where he would have almost a week off before some shows in Ireland, Scotland, and England. Tarantura claim on the front cover “This is amazing recording and the best show from 2004. It is Eric’s favourite performance!” While it is certainly debatable on whether or not it is Clapton’s favorite performance, it does feature one hell of an audience source. The recording is very clear with a nice dynamic sound and has a good solid low end. The crisp drum sound and clear bass give it an almost soundboard quality. The recording sounds a bit compressed, similar to what you would hear in a radio broadcast, but may be a characteristic of the recording gear and not from the mastering. That said this is a very minor issue considering the clarity of the recording.

Clapton had released Me And Mr. Johnson in March 2004 and for the first time since late 1991 Andy Fairweather-Low wasn’t on the tour. Doyle Bramhall II has filled Andy’s place in the live show although both do appear on the Robert Johnson tribute album. Clapton always surrounds himself with top notch players resulting in incredible consistency in his performances and this show is no exception. Doyle has a very unique style of playing. He’s a lefty playing a right handed guitar so the strings are upside down and he brings in a fresh new element to Eric’s sound. Nathan East and Steve Gadd make up the rhythm section with both Chris Stainton and Billy Preston on keys and Michelle John and Sharon White on backing vocals.

The opening of the show has an interesting mix of Eric’s past material before settling into a chunk of songs from the new album. The Robert Johnson tracks are no doubt the highlight of Clapton’s evening and the rest of the players seem to be enjoying themselves as well. “Got to Get Better In A Little While” is a pleasant surprise for this tour while “Have You Ever Loved A Woman” is another example of some great improv soloing from Eric, Doyle, Billy, and Chris. The compression issue seems to affect “Layla” more than the rest of the recording maybe due to the heavy energy of the performers. EC announces Robert Randolph during the outro of “Sunshine Of Your Love” and he joins Eric in the solos. The band immediately launch into “Got My Mojo Working” for another jam with Robert. There are two separate recordings from this show and I can’t imagine the other being any better than this. This latest offering from Tarantura is a very nice title to own and comes packaged in the gatefold paper sleeve common to recent Tarantura releases.

Pink Floyd - 1969-04-14 - London, UK (DVDfull pro-shot)

(DVDfull pro-shot)

Pink Floyd
Rehearsals, Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London, England
14 April 1969

Lineage: 16mm film > BetaCam > VHS(0) or VHS(1) > JVC S-VHS video recorder > Canopus ADVC-100 > Final Cut Pro X > Export to DVD
Additional lineage info: The audio for the rehearsal and concert was recorded on 5" reels at 7.5 ips on a Nagra

Total running time: 25 mins 09 secs

This well-circulated film was transferred for Anthony Stern by SK's friend. Most other copies that do the rounds on DVD appear to be a couple of generations higher than this version.

Although clearly rough around the edges, Stern created a memorable and intimate insight into the band's preparations for the hugely significant concert. Roger is clearly in charge, Nick likes to fool around, and David and Rick are at times earnestly trying to prepare but on other occasions seemingly easily distracted.

Some of the onstage discussions give the impression that the group has not played the whole suite through before the performance. Roger at one point, for example, seems to feel it's necessary to talk the others through exactly what's coming next. Alternatively, the commentary could just be for the benefit of the filmmakers. Everybody, with the possible exception of Roger, seems self-conscious at times but by turn they seem cool and in command.

The Royal Festival still looks the same now as it did then and it's worth pausing the film from time to time to catch fascinating shots of the band's equipment.

Note how the clapper board says "WILD TAKES" before "organ music part one"; Stern's name for Rick's organ solo for the closing organ theme from A Saucerful Of Secrets played that night on the Festival Hall's organ.

Music from the concert is dubbed onto the film from 15 minutes 49 seconds and continues for around eight minutes. At this point Stern and his colleague are asked to leave and you can hear the applause greeting the end of The Man. An usher's bell then signals the break and a debate starts about whether Stern and his colleague should depart.

It would be wonderful if the concert footage from The Man turned up one day. We estimate that just over 30 minutes exists and think it is probably now in the band's archives.

Notes
» t07: bit of feedback at about seven seconds into track
» Audiowhore on the remaster: "As everyone knows, it’s a great show but the recording is hampered by the hiss factor. I’ve put it on Cool Edit Pro and filtered out the hiss, given it a very slight re-EQ, and changed the track marks to make them more accurate as to where the songs actually start."» D1 fixed these problems, post-audiowhore:
t01: about 40 seconds of tuning and silence at start of track
t05: bit of feedback at 3:59; banter level is a bit low
t06: four bits of feedback after the tune
t07: bit of feedback at a half-second into track

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
“Military Night"– Original Master Series
U.S. Military Academy, Eisenhower Hall, West Point, NY
May 27, 1976

Cassette>CDR>Roxio>flac

Here is the latest in the ‘Original Master Series” made possible by Mr Anonymous. 2 master tape sources were used for this project, so Mr Anonymous had some help that night. Born To Run is not complete with an obvious edit toward the last minute or so using the second tape source as filler. Jungleland has a very slight cut in. Detroit Medley uses the second source to fill in the end. Overall, the show is very enjoyable and worth having. Thanks goes out to Lawrence Kirsch for his wonderful book FOR YOU, which came in handy for the artwork. Specifically Michael Butkus took the photos, so he gets a BIG THANK YOU!

Fanatic Records in association with Mr Anonymous is proud to share this original master recording with Bruce Springsteen worldwide!

Notes from BruceBase:
Audience tape. A fan remembers "Us commoners had to sit in the last five or six rows as the cadets, decked out in dress whites, had all of the rest of the theater. The sound was amazing. The big crescendos of Growin' Up seemed to move through us from left to right. I mentioned that to Bruce at the Stone Pony before Southside's 05/30/76 radio broadcast and he said that Eisenhower Hall was supposed to be one of the best acoustic theaters in the country. I believe it."
