bobsboots says:
A great package. The cover is an alternate photo from the Don Hunstien West 4th street photo shoot that produced the official LP cover. Inside is Dylan at CBS studio NY with famed producer John Hammond. The recordings are clear, crisp, and right off of the mix down board. This CD belongs in every collection. It was re-released in 1999 by an unknown Label, and again in 2001 by OMR.

Dave's notes: an essential collection of early outtakes. Great sound. even the casual fan needs this one! artwork included.

Notes by the taper:
Another three hour blowout from the Bruce Springsteen Traveling Revue. Tom Morello still there. Four great songs from Darkness. Great solo from Nils on Youngstown. Nice tribute to guitar tech Kevin Buell. His 1000th show! Recorded from the front of Loge 14. I have no idea where Josh Brolin was sitting. All songs complete. No issues. Another nice sounding show. Samples below.

LA night #2. A frustrating show to some degree. Had a hard time loving this one. Too. Much. Sameness. Kept hoping for big setlist surprises but they rarely came. Remember the two landmark LA shows from April 2009? Sorry, but these two shows aren't that. Am I alone in being completely tired of hearing The Rising and Lonesome Day in exactly the same spot in almost every show since 2007? And does TGOTJ with TM have to be played at at every SOCAL show?

Oh yeah, there was this. At about 7:20 Bruce came out on stage and played For You solo acoustic. Imagine that. Place 80% empty. I was just getting there and saw most of it, but no didn't get it on tape. Hopefully someone did.

Taped and mastered by JB. Please don't sell. Please DO NOT convert to lossy format and upload anywhere. If you upload this show on another site, include all the text info above, especially the NO LOSSY part, but please do not upload this to any site that has anything to do with Lossy formats.

REMASTERED EDITION

Some time ago, my good friend Don told me he had recorded a Santana show at the Fillmore East in 1970. I found a show in circulation from 4/12/70, and did not think of it much more until he found his tape gave me a copy of the transfer.
He also gave me a copy of the program, which indicated Santana played the Fillmore on three nights: April 10, 11, and 12.

I gave a copy to Herman LR and we both agreed this was a different show. Don said he was almost certain he was at the Saturday
show, which would make the date of this one 4/11/70, never in circulation. There may have been two shows per night, and if so, this was the early one.

I want to dedicate this show to Herman, in appreciation for the wealth of Santana recordings he has shared with us here.

Bombiggity deserves credit for the bulk of the work to enable this recording to see the light of day, and in remarkably good form, given the age and circumstances of the recording. He arranged for a fresh, technically proper transfer by Popskull, consulted with Goody on the pitch, arranged for a correction with Flambay, and did the remaining remastering of the recording.

The sound mix starts out bass-heavy, but improves with the second track, and for the most part, gets better as it goes along. It's rough, still has some glitches, but overall is very decent. Samples are provided in the comment section.

The show was opened by The American Dream and It's A Beautiful Day. Don recorded those, and hopefully we will have those to share as well.

runtime: 81:01 (minutes/seconds)

notes
it's most of a high energy show. there is some crowd obstruction and loud clapping in a few parts but most of it sounds pretty good. a section of walking on the moon is missing but spliced, so it's probably not even noticable. Sting mentions playing there a few months earlier and screws up the lyrics near the end of Roxanne. overall it was a good performance though. recording was said to be made on a boom box type recorder.

Nice average recording, with average hiss from a very old tape. There is some flanging effect on side B of the tape (disc 2), possibly due to the tape age. Stewart and Sting aren't too much synchronized at the start of Can't stand..

This is one of the best Police recordings, from a really low generation copy, transferred with all possible love. It's so good I rated it the maximum, even if it has a very slight hiss and really a few of that small "vintage" analog distortion. Actually is one of the best recordings of that era I've ever heard. You can even hear stereo effects (mainly the guitar going from a stack to the other), which tells us that the taper was greatly placed in the middle.

From this tape it was taken the vinyl bootleg "I'd like to thank the Beatles from lending us their Stadium", which is the grandpa of all the other Shea Stadium bootlegs. So we can say we have a pre-bootleg source here! ;)

The sound is greatly balanced and the performance is what you would expect from a show at the legendary Shea Stadium, where the Beatles performed, specially since Sting played with a freshly broken rib, a consequence of one of his famous playful wrestling match with Stewart Copeland they did after the soundchek.

There is a chapter dedicated to the Shea Stadium gig on "Wild Thing", a book by Stewart's brother Ian Copeland, who was the Police agent at the time.

This show sold out in kess than three hours, definitely a record for the time.

No eq, no noise reduction, no speed adjustment. There is a small dropout after "Message in a bottle", but it does not touch any music. I could have cut it, and you would'n have noticed (well, actually I cu a small silence after the dropout, but if I didn't told you...).

You can hear someone says "Bullshit" when Sting announces the Tea break after "One world".
