Kevin Ayers - 1995-10-24 - Solingen, DE (SBD/FLAC)

(Soundboard FLAC)

KEVIN AYERS (1944-2013 R.I.P.) & the WIZARDS OF TWIDDLY
- October 24, 1995 -
Cobra, Solingen, Germany
-- digital SOUNDBOARD master (!!), MWM 0305/6 --
THE COMPLETE NIGHT: 140 STUNNING MINUTES!
-> FIRST TIME out of the "deafmusic" ARCHIVE! w/ samples & covers

"The question
'why isn't Kevin Ayers an almighty star?'
is up there with
'how did the universe begin?"

- Record Collector

"Kevin Ayers' talent is so acute you
could perform major eye surgery with it."

- John Peel

FAREWELL, KEVIN AYERS....

Kevin Ayers possessed a voice like no other, intrinsically British and full of whimsy and mischief. This latter quality animated much of his life as well as his music. ... A man often beset by his own insecurities, Kevin passed away on
February 18, seemingly in his sleep, at the age of 68 at his home in France, a country with which he had developed a deep association. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, and those who lost themselves in his wondrous music.

- Mojo Magazine

-> as we are definitely not able to answer the introductory questions,
we're offering you another masterful 'deafmusic' concert mix & recording,
as first publication - AND HE INSCRIBES IT AGAIN TO HIS LONGTIME FRIEND:

"In fond memory of Rolf Ossenberg, who sadly passed away much too early on Monday December 17th, 2012. He was a big fan of Kevin Ayers person and music, and just his donation or sponsorship made this concert here possible.  This recording has been shared never before... If you download it, and like it, turn off your stereo for a minute or two and think of those that left too early.

"One further significant and hugely enjoyable release would be 'Turn The Lights Down' – 2000 issue of Kevin’s gig with the Wizards of Twiddly in Brentford in 1995. In addition to being a showcase of Ayers 'greatest hits', the set is the only recorded evidence of an (almost) unadulterated live set from an artist whose charisma as a continuing live performer is rarely given the credence it merits. Moreover, the twelve month liaison with Liverpool's Wizards illustrates the respect that a whole generation of younger musicians owe to Kevin Ayers – his music has been a catalyst that bridges time and culture...."

there's nothing to add except:

-> two more - shorter audience recordings - showed
up from their collaboration, so far...check them out:

-> this is the FIRST TIME that the complete & fully unadulterated
recording of A COMPLETE NIGHT OF KEVIN AYERS & the WIZARDS OF TWIDDLY
is open to public viewing & listening....ENJOY YOUR AURAL PLEASURES !!

I had this cd stored somwhere in my closets and I actually never listened to it. I received this a few years ago from a new yorker friend. The title on the cd looked intriguing: " Ayers holland 1971 with Wyatt & Oldfield". A few listens and a few googles later I could track the exact date & venue as well as the tracklist. Sound quality is perfect, probably a pristine 9/10. And Ayers is in great shape as well as the whole band. Wyatt joined the band for a mere 6 months period only. Enjoy this lost gem!

Kevin Ayers, John Cale, Eno & Nico - 1974-06-01 - The Outtakes (STU/FLAC)

(Studio FLAC)

Kevin Ayers, John Cale, Eno, Nico
June 1, 1974 - The Outtakes

Remastered version

What I did : remove an awful lot of hiss / equalization / transition between tracks to make it a seamless show / design the cover art

This is by far the best version available (if you except the extracts that were officially released and that I have removed here).

"Baby's on fire" was played twice during this show : in the beginning and as the last encore. The encore has been officially released, but without its extra percussive introduction. Here I have kept the introduction and made it followed by the song as it was played in the beginning of the show.

Kevin Ayers: vocals, guitar
John Cale: vocals, piano, viola
Brian Eno: vocals, synthesizer
Nico: vocals, harmonium
