Notes:
The third GN'R concert in Israel (again at the same location).
This time the band made a triumphant return with 2 original members, Slash and Duff.
According to media reports, it was one of the largest ever stages built for a concert in the country.
The concert was sold-out and gathered a record audience of some 62000 people.
The band started to play at 8 PM sharp and took only short breaks, during their extensive set.
Despite the heat and rivers of sweat, they delivered a memorable performance.
Also, there were some cool fireworks and video-art from start to finish.
Despite the usual crowd noise, I was able to get a pretty good capture.
Nevertheless you'll hear a lot of noise, so be careful when you listen to this with headphones.

Comments:
This, along with the two nights in mid-July 1998 at the L.A. Forum, is somewhat of a "classic" in the Pearl Jam trading community -- an excellent matrix of two good audience recordings with the in-house ALD broadcast. The mix does a good job of maximizing the strengths of the ALD recording (high-end, immediacy of vocals) and covering its shortcomings with the fullness of the audience recording. Relative to those two recordings, I think it's similar if not a little better than the first night; certainly better than the second. The vocals and guitar sound as though they mostly come from the ALD, but the two audience recordings serve to fill out the overall mix. It's not quite on par with a commercial release, but honestly, it's not far from being worthy of being released as an "official boot."
I'm not sure how the hardcore fans feel, but I felt like the "Yield" tour was sort of a comeback for the band -- after the disappointing "No Code," "Yield" had a lot of great material that translated well in a live setting, and they were able to reach a broader audience again after setting their feud with Ticketmaster by returning to mainstream venues after a tour of playing makeshift sheds and county fairgrounds. These shows had a lot of energy and positive vibe. Understandably, this is a little heavy on "Yield" material but the setlist adequately covers their full catalog.

Notes:
- I have banged my head of this one for a while now to try to figure out a few points of conflict. I have exhausted all resources I could find to add some clarification so I am going to put this out in hopes that someone may have some information on this, I am certainly no Lou Reed expert. Points of conflict are listed below. Overall a great sounding source and from what I can tell is totally uncirculated up until now. No editing other than retracking and removing dead air and repeat material has been done on this since the professional transfer.
- When I received the raw waves, there were three different tracks for "Heroin". Two are definitely different and the last was a partial from 02. I have omitted the partial track.
The other two baffle me. 06 and 02 both seem to be complete. 06 is 9:31 seconds and 02 is 15:23? 02 is also preceded by a 30 second snippet of "how do you speak to an angel"
that seems to fade seamlessly into the second take of heroin. This would lead me to believe that there is some missing material.
- 03 and 04 also had duplicate tracks. These were omitted.
- I have seen two records of set lists for a show at this venue for this date. Neither of them match this source. I have talked with the one fellow from a Lou reed site and he noted
that there was an early show and a late show for this date. He only knows the late shows exists because he was informed by a band member that it was taped and has never seen or heard the set so he was unable to add much clarification.
- 05 this track is 9 minutes of crowd banter. I included it to preserve the integrity of the show.
Flaws:
- 01 There is a volume spike in the first 30 seconds of the track.
- 01 This is a 30 second partial of "how do you speak to an angel". The beginning is cut.
- 07 Cut at the end.

On the negative side most of the recordngs are mainly of poor quality, but on the positive side it is lovely to have such a collection; many of which I have not seen at this length anywhere else. Programmes such as Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's show 'Not Only, But Also' and the longish recording of John Lennon and Victor Spinetti that seems to have been filmed in 1968 (going by John's hair style!).

==========================================
Hello Lou fans,
This cassette of an incomplete Australia 1975 Tour concert first came to light sometime around 1986, not too long afterwards I received a copy of it thanks to WGL. Since it surfaced it has true or false been referred to as a dub from Doug Yule’s personal copy so here I’ll refer to it as the Doug Yule tape. Yule played guitar on the 1975 World tour, the last leg of this tour was Australia / New Zealand in July & August. The date of this tape from the get go has always been stated as 17/7/75 or in yank speak 7/17/75 which ends up down under as the 17th July 1975 & the city was always given as Adelaide. In trading circles it has always appeared as Adelaide 17th July 1975.
Last year audiowhore & myself undertook a lengthy period of trying to compile a complete record of Lou’s Australian 1975 concert dates (which to my knowledge had never been attempted before). There were always big gaps in-between known dates but we finally uncovered all the dates of this tour. We found previously undocumented gigs such as the two Perth shows on the same day plus a now 100% confirmed 2nd Melbourne show on the 29th July. Then we discovered multiple newspaper ads for a 17th July 1975 Brisbane concert making it the second show of the tour. Lastly we found a newspaper concert review plus ticket stub for an Adelaide concert held on the 28th July 1975.
So we had a real musical mystery, is this Doug Yule soundboard recording from Brisbane 17th July 1975 or Adelaide 28th July 1975? Well that mystery has now been solved, dead set I can hear some of you saying ;-) without going into much detail at this point in time it now has been 100% confirmed that this recording is indeed from the Festival Theatre, Adelaide on the 28th July 1975. It was the date that was always wrong.
The original tape is rather hissy at times, I’ve owned two versions, (both unknown generations) but the one used for this torrent I’m told was nearer the master. Both cassettes had cuts between songs, the 2nd version had minutes of just hiss between songs, where as the 1st didn’t - it just had short hissy gaps. audiowhore has cleaned these up and I believe that this recording is now in an improved sound quality.
Some years ago I was given a CD-R of 4 more soundboard songs from the 1975 Australian tour but it came with no info regarding city or date. The same 4 songs some time later appeared on the 1997 Lou silver bootleg entitled 'Banging On My Drums' where they are credited as being from Perth on the 7th Of July. Another incorrect date as Perth was on the 23rd of July, the tour didn’t start until the 15th of July! So a new mystery arises about this tape, where is this from & is it even in Perth let alone Australia? Looking at the available 1975 set lists I discovered that It’s Too Late Mama seemed to be only played in Japan / Australia but it looks like Charley’s Girl made it’s live debut in Australia. So that narrows it down to these 4 tracks being recorded somewhere in Australia. For years I’d automatically assumed that these 4 songs were the same versions as on the Doug Yule Adelaide tape, I’d never bothered to made a comparison, that is until earlier this month. Now I can safely says these 4 tracks are not the same versions appearing on the 1975 Doug Yule tape. Roughly similar renditions but they’re different performances, interesting that Charley's Girl has totally different lyrics to the version on the Doug Yule tape.

Here’s a review of the Adelaide 28th July concert.
Adelaide Advertiser
29th July 1975
Reed intense in rock-‘n-roll
It’s difficult to describe one of the best concerts you have ever seen, almost as difficult wondering how many better versions of his songs Lou Reed is going to do. At the Festival Theatre, “Sally Ride “and a peaceful night Reed introduced another of his infamous images – that of the leader of a powerhouse rock- ‘n-rock band who cared about the music. For a change, the only symbol he stood for was an exciting singer responsible for exciting songs played by enthusiastic ace musicians. There were no sinister connotations as Reed walked on stage and began “Sweet Jane” The music started was sustained and ceased without relief from the intense level of rock ‘n-roll. After two songs I didn’t recognise he hit us with “Satellite Of Love”, “Ride Sally Ride” and a peaceful hypnotic version of “Heroin”. When Reed handed his guitar to the roadie we thought we were in for an early night, but the band returned with “White Light, White Heat” which produced a stunning guitar solo from Yule while Reed looked on with quiet admiration. Eventually the singer was inspired into performing his crazy puppet dance as an accompaniment. Lucky strike! Another encore and none other than “Rock–‘n-Roll a fitting climax to a breathtaking concert.
Patrick Miles.

This is a recording done by The French Gentleman (TFG) to reel tapes. I converted it to 2-channel mono, then broke it up into tracks. There are spot where the broadcasters did edits / you can hear crowd clap levels shift. I put the track breaks in these spots, where they existed. And I brought down the volume during a 3-second buzzing anomaly in the lead in to Chelsea, so it's less irritating. That's all I needed to do - SBE-fixed the files, and you hold in your digital hand the results.

The is from the “Retrorock” Radio Broadcast which aired in the early '80's.
The Radio Show's tag was “putting the present into perspective” so it includes the songs included here plus host Meg Griffin informing us of a little of what TR was up to at the time. Not much actual information, but the songs are fantastic. Made from the transcript LP on a great turntable > DAT > CD (with digital editing by Sandra Winters to rid the CD of clicks and pops). This is sourced from a Bubnick CDR, one of the few where sticking a label on it didn't warp the disc enough to ruin it.
